Hey /k/. This is my first time here and I was wondering what you would reccomend for shotgun for when SHTF. I was thinking 12g since it's widely available and that availabilty should carry on even after society collapses.

Get a pump action 12 gauge like one of the ones on this list. I'd reccomend one with a steel reciever. For HD (home defense) I have a Remington 870, and for dicking around and skeet I have an Ithaca 37. I would also reccomend a Mossberg 500, a Benelli Nova, and a Winchester Model 12 if those sound good to you. You basically can't go wrong with them.

Was thinking of getting a 92S as my first handgun. I was just wondering how compatible it is with later models? I know that the mag release is not the same along with the safety is only on the left side and the sights are fixed. However I wanted to know if I needed to down the road I could buy fresh parts for mine if need be (like the extractor and barrel)? I was potentially thinking of getting a new set of 92fs grips and cutting out the slot needed for the mag release to still be accessible and if there would be any issues with doing this? Any insight would be helpful /k/.

Owned both the 92s and fs. The 92s slide and guide rod are not compatible with fs frame. You can if you are not careful get the slide to lock onto the frame, and get the slide to function as if normal but taking it apart is another story. Had my slide release get stuck and couldn't fix it myself and had to take my pistol into a gunsmith.
Mag compatibility is another thing.
