My grandfather served with the Coast Guard during the Second world war. Saw some combat in the Pacific but very little.

According to my father they were bored out of their minds the entire time then scared shitless when the Japs showed up. Made feeling bored not so bad.

Given the ATF's recent going after smokeless powder, what modern guns would still be able to run well on black powder in a world where smokeless powder is incredibly expensive/unavailable? I've seen some people demonstrate firing modern guns with ammunition loaded with black powder, but would they be able to handle enough rounds for decent practice or whatever else you may want to use them for without having to clean the gun while you're out? Picture not really related.

You could run BP loads in some cowboy manually cycled guns.

originally leveraction .45 LC and 45-70 guns were all BP. I'd go with those.
>>
Any manual repeating weapon would do, but I guess you are talking about semi-auto weapons, that you want to use as semi-auto and not straight pull single shot. Then you'd probably need to decrease the bolt carrier weight and install a looser recoil spring to adapt to the lower pressure of black powder.
Nonethless, it's going to make it rust from the inside out and will quickly fuck up everything.
Your best bet would be to create a gun specifically for that purpose, with a mechanism that is simple as possible and easy to clean. Gas powered guns are out of the question, you'd need lever or roller delayed blow back.
>>
The ATF is not going to "go after" smokeless powder to any degree that would be cause more than just a logistical nuisance for ammo and powder manufacturers, this has already been discussed, so save your energy for writing and calling your congressmen/women about the issue rather than figuring out how to run black powder like a bunch of cavemen

Once you get set up its defiantly cheaper to reload. Especially if with uncommon rounds like 8mm mauser.
>>
>>31170453
>How much has it saved you in money?
None. I just shoot more. Help.

Seriously though, it's pretty much essential if you want to shoot rarer calibers. I mainly got into it because one day I want to own a Webley, which is nearly impossible to find ammo for since I live in MA.
>>
My press and everything paid for itself after maybe
750 rounds of subsonic 300 memeout based on the cheapest being $1/round for a long time. Now they are down to about .60/rnd. I load for like .23 or something like that.
I save about $50-$100 per 1,000 5.56 vs current high prices. That take a LONG time on a single stage press, though.

Ik its not likely they would, but if it came down to it could they.

How does this scenario play out in your head, OP? The Chinese build a human bridge that goes from China to the West Coast of America? Well they certainly have enough people.

The FBI were using .38 Winchester silver-tip hollow points. A pretty anemic loading. They tried to fix this with 10mm but women couldn't get a grip on it so then came .40 S&W.

Can we talk about the K31 and other Swiss rifle that consume the 7.5x55?

I may need one of these in my life, should I do it fgt?

Also general Swiss milsurp cultural thread

(ps most of the Swiss I have worked with are somewhat snobbish but I am willing to overlook that for the sake of some good milsurp)

Can this meme die already? If I have the safety on, there is nothing wrong with loading my gun with hollowpoints, aiming it at my brother's face, and pulling the trigger repeatedly. What's the worst that could happen?

So, recently been evaluating life, been exploring, going to different states working different jobs, finding myself. I know I sound like a hippy faggot but i'm not. Originally grew up in Texas, completed highschool with high GPA, and was a AP scholar. Knew college was not for me, spent some time as a contractor, doing different jobs construction wise. Now i'm here, thinking about what I need to do with my life, and something that has always been in the back of my mind is being a Private mil contractor, they make good money (so i've heard), get to go different places, shoot stuff the fuck up, and make good connections. Now there's really only one way to accomplish this goal, and that is going into the military. Have a uncle in the marines, he's pretty high up in the ranks, and can get me any MOS I want for the most part, not to mention I took my PICAT and got a 75, which also means I qualify for just about any job I want. I've considered Recon, because obviously that is the Marines version of Special Forces, and being in with them will put the security clearance and training on my resume if I did decide to goto Triple Canopy or Blackwater or some other contracting company. Is this the route to go /k/? Please no shitposters, hoping to get some legitamate knowledge and advice from a former or current mil. Thanks in advance.

We all know that battleships aren't all that useful anymore. But I think they could have a second life as an area denial asset. Those guns and all the missile tubes that can be added could be used effectively to park in a port and control the area. The thick armor would protect it against land threats.

>>
We have other assets just for that, with the bonus of not being built in the 1940s.

They're museum ships now, regardless. It would be prohibitively expensive to put them back into service.

Or you could just use MLRs, mortars and ordinary artillery instead. You know, stuff you can move around and hide, something that's not going to get an entire rocket battery fired at it.

Hi, /k/,

What do you guys think of CO2 pistols/rifles? Do you own them? I'm a still-nogunz, but while I'm learning for my gun exams, I'd like to get some more experience with TD, drills etc. Do you guys practise with these CO2 pistols?

The pros of a CO2 IMHO:
>good price
>no local regulations where I live
>cheap to fire
>fun to plink all day

The cons:
>less recoil so less training value than a .22
>worse ballistics at long range

What do you guys think?

lol, you got to try harder than that for a bait thread.

Obviously, the "knife" posted is pointless meme shit for niggers and autistic armchair commandos.

Something like a Kabar is good. Can use it as a tool and also for murder.

For pure murder - the Fabian Sykes is a good example. Powerword: Two sided, smooth and straight cutting edges.

Don't buy knives with "teeth" or similar autistic shit. The human body is much better adapted for "ripping" injuries and can contain the bleeding from them faster than from a straight, clean cut, which is optimal for murder.
