Arsenal's SAM series.
Hey guys. I don't know if anybody remembers my other threads but I'm in the mood to tell a story or two. My last part 3 I asked for your stories and got some good ones. I'm doing another to tell a few more of mine, but as always you are all encouraged to tell me your own tales of lonely nights and desperation. Side note, does anybody have the screencaps? I had them saved on my other computer but the motherboard is kaputz.
So, to catch everyone up, for about two years I was homeless in the back country of northeast Tennessee. I lost everything, and was jailed, because my roommate at the time purchased a bag of weed (I do not, and did not smoke it) in the presence of an undercover police officer, and I was taken up on the charge of "Inhabiting a dwelling in which drugs are kept or sold" and spent 3 months in the county lockup. When I got out, my landlord had understandably evicted me, but was kind enough to store all my things in a storage unit until I could get them. I sold everything, since I had nowhere to put it all, save for my grandmother's Winchester 37a break action 20 gauge and my poorfag Taurus 1911. My grandparents are long dead, my mother moved away when I was young and ditched me on them, so I had no family. No friends, either. All the friends I had were mutual friends of my roommate, and now I was a 'snitch' because I let him take the fall for his own illegal activities. No fucks given. I'd do it all again the same way if I had the chance.
So, to start our tale tonight, at this point I've been homeless over a year. I survived my first winter in the mountains and now it was summer again. I was changed from the cold, I felt like a zombie wandering the woods. I had already, in the past year, been shot at twice, robbed by meth heads and made friends with a black bear I call Sir Bearington. Don't know if he's actually a male, but whatever. Continued in next post.

I would prefer not to but reading yours reminded me of a few of those times and it helped me quit drinking. Been wondering if you were going to start another thread kind of been looking forward to it.
Just saying to bump.

I had a pretty decent semi-permanent shelter made from a lean-to put over an approximately 4 foot dug out on the hillside, insulated with mud and pine branches. I had grown accustomed to this life, as strange as it sounds. By this time, it seemed quite 'normal' to me. I had a routine. Wake up, retrieve my socks from the stick I suspend above the fire for drying. Make breakfast, if I have food, and then try to rustle up some small game. Squirrels, turkey, etc. Mostly squirrels. Almost entirely squirrels. I was supplementing this diet with foodstamps I had finally received. Not much, $140 a month. I'll tell you, $140 a month goes a lot quicker when you have to buy only non-canned, non-perishable food. I didn't buy cans because they were too bulky to take on the mountain with me, so ramen noodles, powdered soups, beef jerky, things like this. I got good at making stews and soups combining these things. Squirrel ramen stew is surprisingly good. I would boil squirrel bones for broth, then add wild onions which are abundant in this area, once they were soft I'd add crushed ramen and the flavor packet, and fried squirrel chunks to complete the mix. Sometimes I would cheat and bring a can or two of potatoes to add along with it, which made it much better.
But I digress. I just wanted to give you all an idea of how I had been surviving this long so far. There are no homeless shelters in my town, not even a salvation army. It's all in the nearby city, but the city isn't so nearby when you don't have a car or any way to get inside a vehicle. No bus service out here. Nothing.
So I made my home near a natural spring I knew about because I grew up a few miles down the mountain from it on a farm owned by my grandparents. It served as a good home base, clean water all the time can't be beat. There is a nice little 'waterfall' (It was probably about 7 feet) and a small pool I used to bathe myself outside of the winter months. I had it easy, as far as living in the woods go. (cont)
Can we get an optics thread going? I've been reading hundreds of articles and old forum threads about the pros and cons of various options but still can't figure out what I should get for my new AR.
What range, budget(important), and intended use? Do you definitely want magnification?
>>31497727
Budget: $1200
Range: 0-250yds, emphasis on 0-10
Intended use: Home defense, range plinking, SHTFantasy peace of mind, maybe some classes since I just did an Appleseed found it a lot of fun (got Rifleman patched too)
Weight: going on a 6lb AR build so I would like to not add more than 16oz if possible
Magnification is not a MUST but is appreciated so long as it isn't hindering up-close use.
Always-on or motion-sensor illumination is more appreciated yet for home defense.
Special: I have astigmatism, all red dots and holographics are fuzzy/starbursting
Currently list, very open to other ideas:
- Leupold VXR Patrol (1.25-4x)
- ACOG TA-44SG (1.5x green circle-dot)
- ACOG TA-33HG (3x green horseshoe)
- Vortex Spitfire (1x prismatic)
- Trijicon Accupoint (1-4x fiber/tritium)

Not that anon but at least you're being honest with yourself.
Approval given for fighter sales to Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Qatar is requesting 36 Strike Eagles with options for up to 36 more.
Kuwait is requesting 28 Super Hornets with options for up to 12 more.
Bahrain is requesting up to 18 Falcons.
http://www.defensenews.com/articles/white-house-approves-jet-sales-to-qatar-bahrain-and-kuwait-corker
All them oil dollars, do note that Qatar and Kuwait have ordered 36 Rafales and 12 Typhoons in recent times respectively.
Boeing and Lockheed Martin must be fucking stoked.
My mistake, looks like Bahrain is asking for 16.
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-airshow-britain-usa-mideast-idUSKCN0ZQ0B2
So if all options are exercised. The F-15 deal will bring four billion USD, F-18s would birng in three billion and the F-16s one billion.
Glad to see the Super Hornet deal, will keep the assembly line open for a while longer

No F35s of PAKFAs? lol
Are there any militaries where soldiers can still choose and buy their own sidearms? This used to be common, but I don't think it has been allowed in the US military for many years.
>>31497213
No.
Because those armies don't want to have to stock meme ammo like 10mm or Dardick Trounds
>>31497213
Armies belonging to african warlords who just use whatever they can steal, maybe.
Logistically, its incredibly dumb not to standardise. Not just for stocking ammo but also replacement parts, having people qualified to repair stuff, etc.
US Rangers were offered group buys on double stack Para. 45 blackops 1911, which they were able to carry if enough people purchased them to fulfil a full order. After deployment they were able to keep the pistol

LADS, THE LOCAL SWARM OF WASPS HAS ATTEMPTED TO ANNEX MY ROOM. I WOKE UP THE THE SOUND OF ABOUT 8-10 YELLOW JACKETS. I'VE MADE A HASTY RETREAT, BUT ITS TIME TO GO OM THE OFFENSIVE, HOW DO I BEGIN?
Currently running on reserve power, only 3%. I may have to go on a smash and grab retrieval mission to reclaim a phone charger.
I ran, took my phone, turned off the light, and left. Now there is no longer a source of light, and they're riled up, they should slowly start to look at building their empire elsewhere, right?

Alright /k/, from what I can tell for something with such a low price point these things work pretty damn well, for someone on a tight budget will they get the job done?
It'll shoot the bullet and work well enough if they're maintained. Don't expect amazing grouping or a lightweight package, you're getting what you paid for.

>Has any weapons program ever cost so much and had so many failures?
>Is this plane really worth all the issues when the Chinese and Russians are beefing up their air defense networks and testing Stealth fighters that will be fielded in the 2020's that will probably be near F-22 capable?
>Even the air force is looking toward a replacement with its Air Superiority 2030 Flight Plan.
>Should we just produce a Unmanned Upgraded F22 style Fighter?
> Was the JSF just a hiccup or do we need to start planning now to figure out how to prevent the various issues of the JSF and put more resources toward 6th and 7th Gen Fighters?
>INB4 Lasers.
Still talking about shit tier US fighters
Embrace the glorious master race of Russian Interceptors, of which the MiG-31 could reach mach 3.2 and deterred the SR-71. Modern stealth technology is expensive and not practical for every plane in the whole fleet, and instead ends up causing production to be limited. Also, the whole rest of the plane suffers as the exterior is designed before the interior, and the IWI Tavor showed us why that's wrong.
>>31497016
F-35 procurement issues aside,
>russian
>interceptor
>master race
these three things do not go together.
>>31497016
The MIG 35 won't be on par with F22s in any way, and the J-20 will probably fall short of any upgrades the F22 has, if any, in the next 3 to 5 years. The PAK-FA is on its way, and even that won't compete with F22s by 2020. The F35 isn't meant to compete with other air superiority jets, but given the idea that it'll be used for escort missions to some degree, I can't fathom why a better platform isn't being used. We're throwing money at a program that probably should have been scrapped as soon as the numbers started to show.
I-is he gonna make it?

Get fucked, cheapskate.
How do you guys feel about 45ACP as a SHTF gun? I have four handguns in 9mm, as well as a SBRd mpx. Got offered a Ruger Precision Rifle for my Springfield Operator, so I'm up in the air about trading and not too attached to the gun as I don't shot 45acp often at all. One less caliber I'd have to own ammo for when I could just keep it simple with one round.
How do you guys feel about 45acp, and would you guys make the trade in my case?
>>31496359
it's the next best thing to have a SHTF handgun chambered in, and I say this because of availability
>>31496391
What about this as opposed to 9mm?
>>31496359
buy the Ruger PR and gouge for it.
First though think about how much you have sunk into your Operator. If you've got more than 1200 dollars in it, I would decline that trade (as that is the approximate value of the RPR)
