Looking to get my first shotgun for $300 or less, is the maverick 88 my best option?
>>31494831
What? The Mossman 88 is like under $200. Just save up a few more bucks and get a Mossy 500 for like $350 or some shit.
>>31494831
Walmart sells mossberg 500s for like $280

We tried /k/
There's no overturning Prop 63. Democrat voter turnout will swamp the polls.
Don't let this happen to your state.

>We tried /k/
no we fucking didn't.
The signature drive was done in an inefficient manner, requiring people to sign like 10 different petitions in full. Driving people who aren't passionate, but might have signed if it was just one entry and not 10.
There was no advertising outside of the gun community, and only then, it was only the people who gave a shit about gun rights in the first place who would have known about it. You typical gun owner couldn't give two shits becuase they aren't even part of the gun culture.
Then there are the retards that sign, but don't list complete information, like signs with initials or leave out address, becuase of tin foil bullshit. Bitch, you live in CA, the state already knows you own a gun if you ever bought a gun through a dealer. If you're afraid that the signature gathers are the ones who will steal your info, then go sign at your local LGS that you trust.
I always thought that CA gun owners were better than this, but after this, and recently having talked to people who cliam they are pro 2a but are ok with registration and wait periods, I'm certain that most CA gun owners don't actually care about freedom.
Fuck this, I'm moving out next month anyway.
>>31494734
This was just a temporary effort to try and delay the shit incoming.
Biggest battle will be the presidential AND Senate race nationally. If Demoshits lose the federal government, californian gun owners will gain a super powerful ally that could not only stack the judges for the next few years with more progun ones but also even pass federal gun rights bills that would overrule or at the least aid our shitload of lawsuits on every level. And in fact all this draconian shit could backfire tremendously in the liberals as they all get shot down by a conservative supreme court.
Best case would be if Californian gun owners managed to network with the host of other liberal infested states in such a situation and made a good enough case to the NRA dominated Congress to pass sweeping progun legislation that nullifies all state level assault weapons bans, mag caps, owners licensing restrictions, permit taxes etc that would be a cataclysmic victory and common sense since the progun lobby in general wouldn't have to fight thousands of legal lawsuits and such a bill would literally drive gun culture right in the heartland of the liberal elite and crushing their safe spaces via flooding their enclave with new gun owners. I doubt Trump would veto that since he could espouse winning the war on guns to the NRA and any gun owner period would vote for him the next 4 years, including millions of new shooters.
Announcement from the organizer:
Patriots,
"It is with disappointment that I must now report to you it appears we will not obtain the minimum signatures required to get these referenda on the ballot. We had six short weeks to get so many signatures and we all know what an improbable job it was. We still need to finish this job and get the signatures we collected filed so that the state can do their work and count all of them for an official record. Many citizens stepped up and signed our petitions so their voice can be heard. We need to follow through on our commitment and make sure their voice is heard by filing the petitions to be counted. I am proud that I at least tried to get the referenda through and I hope you feel the same way. I am honored and privileged to have worked with each and every one of you in this effort.
This game we just played was THEIR game. And by “their”, I mean the politicians in Sacramento. They know how insanely short the window is to collect so many signatures on a referendum. And the way they were passed and then of course signed just before the Independence Day holiday were clearly intended to give them a further advantage and secure what amounts to an illegal gun grab from law abiding citizens. I find it absurd because only law abiding citizens will respect these laws, which of course will result in only criminals retaining these soon to be illegal firearms and their magazines. Don’t get me started about the black market ammo dealers coming to a neighborhood near you!
As many have made crystal clear over these past few weeks, the only reason Sacramento can pass these ridiculous laws is because California is one of a few states that does not have the right to bear arms in its constitution. Even if we had succeeded in this game playing defense, the politicians would likely have passed the same bills all over again and required us to do it all over again."

Why don't we have vtols like this and advance technology? The future looked so bright if you ignore the alien invasion.
Talk about a terrible fucking aircraft design.
Because of physics
Jets are terrible for this sort of thing.

SHTF happens, BLM riots start blocking streets and highways, burning cars, buildings, etc. You need to cut through the bullshit somehow and get home, away from the riots around you. All you have is what you usually conceal carry. How fucked are you if you're caught in the middle of the riots? Also assume traffic is backed up ahead of you too, so you can't simply bulldoze through the riots.
I keep a rifle in my truck with 90rds in magazines.

In west Kentucky?
I deploy Bourbon and wait for the Klan.
I work from home, and there's a carrier in port so the Navy won't be putting up with that shit near the base. I suppose I just keep my home defense scattergat ready with a bunch of magazines.
>lightweight, even for the light machine gun class weapons

Hey /k/, got a question I need answered.
So my local gun shop has one of these Baikal Makarovs in 380 for 299, and I'm really interested since 9x18 is sadly soon to be fairly expensive in the US.
My main question was if I bought the gun, would the colored hammers, safeties, and Bakelite grips of the Soviet and Bulgarian military pistols be interchangeable with the Baikal 380?
If so, I'm buying it tomorrow, but I'd like to know before I purchase it.
Shameless self bump
>>31493783
Why would it be fairly expensive? Yea we have an election coming in but who the fuck is gonna stockpile 9x18?
>>31493783
I would buy it. $300 is a "good" price since makarovs have been going up a lot lately. I'm pretty sure those parts are interchangeable as well. The grip for sure is.
Where to get some? I've got a new Mil Spec Carbine length Ruger AR-556 on the way (pic related) and I need a decent furniture set.
probably going to pick this one up:
http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-parts/furniture-sets/ar-15-m16-mil-spec-moe-furniture-sets-prod79065.aspx
but I don't think it comes with a rail and I hear it covers up the sling.
What are some other decent alternatives that I can pick up?
Coming from the PTR-91 world all of this stuff is cheaper than hell compared to the HK accessories I had to get for my Peeter.
Looking for other must have reccomendations too for slings, handstops, optis etc.
>>31493588
If you didnt have the a2 sight you would have more parts and accessorries available to you.
>>31493722
Ahh shit. looks like removing it will be a PITA too. I'd need to buy a new gas block.
This is all very scary and strange to me coming from my experience with a roller delayed blowback gun .
If I did remove it what could I put on instead?

hey, /k/.
I'm going on a hunting trip later this year in the Arizonian desert. What's a good camo pattern for hunting in this environment? a buddy of mine suggested that I go with a different pattern for the top than the bottom. but I don't really know what pattern would be good. I'll be hunting predator(fox, bobcat, coyote, maybe mountain lion) and camo is kind of important. It doesn't have to be milsurp either.
Tropentarn
>>31493501
Back home (west texas) we used light green camo up top and light brownish red on bottom. Dont knock the dust off them, helps keep the colors muted.
Has anyone here ever milled their own gun?
I just inherited a house with a huge, well-equipped machine shop. I've been looking at PDFs from those extremist IRA and white resistance types, and most of those guns look easy to make; even relatively safe.
From my understanding Sten guns were made to be easily produced and fixed for resistance fighters in Europe.
Any tips? Besides hand insurance?
Quadruple check welds and tolerances, they arent meant to be sub moa but i have seen some homemades blow apart from recoil
>>31493387
Find a simple and sturdy plateform to get started and see how good of a job you've done;
Shoot it repeatedly without holding it to see how it reacts. If a thousand bullets don't make it fall apart then you're g2g;
An open bolt recoil operated smg would be the must imo, the blueprints are fuckeasy to find, not to mention the do/k/ument

I want something cheap and easy to maintain

This. /thread
I want to build an AR-15.
I'm obviously going to start by buying a lower receiver, and I have three questions:
1. Does brand choice matter for such a simple part?
2. What brands should I avoid at any cost?
3. How much should I expect to pay?
pic related is the end goal
>>31493136
NoDak spud. They sell retro lowers. Or Gunbroker for a Colt SP1 one. Be warned retro builds are hip so be prepared to be gouged every step of the way.
Go buy an Anderson for $40 and be done with it.
As long as the holes are in the right place there is nothing else that really matters for the lower.
So build project, are in the works.
I just ordered a AeroPrecision AR 10 lower to have in the drawer and just used my summer tips from my work to also order a parts kit (458 socom) for an ar15 lower I have which is kind of not in too good shape from a engraving mishap that happened at a jewlery store. (Pic related)
When this lower comes in, should I get a shotgun 12 gauge upper? Or put my money into building a decent DMR build?

in for ~$115 so far on an LPK, FCG, and 2 lancer mags
waiting on my flgs to get a stripped anderson lower in stock so I can buy without paying their stupid $50 FFL fee
planning on adding an ace ultralight stock with rifle buffer/spring
Haven't decided on upper yet. Probably going to get a cheapo 16" mid length.
Does a mid length gas system work ok with rifle buffer/spring? I get conflicting answers, and this is going to be my first build.
Another 15-20 years and most of the Ticonderogas will be nearing the end of their service life.
Are there any plans in the work of what to replace them with? Or is it likely that the guided missile cruiser class will be done away with entirely like our frigates and replaced with more DDGs?
>>31493017
They'll either be overhauled or replaced with Burkes/whatever-replaces-the-Burkes

Apparently the Ticonderogas aren't going to be modernized. They'll slowly be phased out and replaced with Flight 3 Burkes that will be able to handle the larger radar. The Navy is throwing a fit about it but Congress doesn't appear to be budging.
So long, cruisers. Another ship class lost to the waves of time :(
