I recently aquired an MAS 49, but there is a problem. I took it to the range the other day and started firing. After expending 3 rounds I pulled the trigger once and it fired 3 times.
Was this gun originally made to be automatic? It scared the living daylights out of me so I don't want to fire it again if not. I've taken it apart and it doesn't look out of the ordinary.
What gives /k/?
>>31488295
Take it apart and clean it good.
The mas 49 is about as simple a design as guns get. You should be able to find out why it's slam firing.
>>31488295
Isn't this rare as fuck? How much did you pay for it?
>>31488295
nice syrian contract MAS
what causes slam firing is the trigger group being too low, so the bolt isn't cocking it. the rear stock probably isn't screwed in tight enough
you can experiment if it slam fires by holding the trigger and racking the bolt with no mag in
if tightening the stock screw doesnt work you might have to sand off some material to make the trigger group seat higher
Hi Point offers you a thousand dollars a month to shill their guns on YouTube ads. Do you take it?
They're cheap and just fuckin werk. It makes holes in paper and people with no frills.
Why not
>>31488300
>fpbp
Hell yes I would too. Even that Vickers guy gets paid to shill for Crisco gun oil.
>>31488300
This, I'd definitely do it
We all know why the M16 got a bad rep. during its early service time in Vietnam and as a result the forward assist got implemented. But is it necessary in a modern variant that gets maintained propperly with modern parts?
>Have you experienced situations where you needed it?
>Have you shot thousands of rounds and never needed it?
>Is it too bulky and for your needs?
>Is the forward assist a weak point for other malfunctions?
I'd rather have it and not use it often than need it and not have it at all.
>>31488250
>Have you experienced situations where you needed it?
Yes
>Have you shot thousands of rounds and never needed it?
Yes
>>Is it too bulky and for your needs?
No
>>Is the forward assist a weak point for other malfunctions?
No

Were you using old milsurp or a new high quality manufactured AR?
Because I don't think its needed on a new made AR thats not completely trash. If a round donesn't feed its usually some sort of restistance that would require you to clean the gun/ammo anyway.
Hearing damage after a range trip?
Yesterday I went shooting and was at the range for a couple hours. I put 20 rounds through a m44 and tokarev, and about 80 rounds through my vz58. I was using sonic defender ear plugs which are highly rated and supposed to work well for the first time. They were new out of the box. I had them seated in my ear properly with the extra filter in place.
Immediately after leaving the range, hearing loss was noticible, especially in my right ear. There was ringing and it felt like someone had stuffed cotton in my right ear. Its been 18 hours and my hearing has still not returned to normal.
Is my hearing fucked? Also, what should I do about hearing protection for future trips? These plugs were supposed to be excellent and I've never had negative results like this before. The cheap orange disposable plugs I used before protected me better.
Thanks

That's not hearing damage, it's PTSD. Better contact your psychiatrist.

Thanks for your valuable insight. I'll be sure to move to NYC, lube up, and allow the "doctor" to perform a thorough exam
Well the LSAT program is dead now. Battlerifle fags got a hold of it and there's no way it's going to be adopted:
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/09/28/back-future-textron-displays-newest-polymer-cased-telescoped-firing-rifle/
>rifle weighs 8.7 lbs bare and unloaded
>for comparison a loaded M4 + PEQ + optic weighs 8.74 lbs
>loaded 20 round magazines weigh 1 lb while a loaded 30 round STANAG magazine weighs 1 lb
>"lightweight ammo" reduces the ammo soldiers can carry by 1/3 due to weighing more than existing ammo
>fires a 6.5mm round comparable to .260 Remington
Fucking battlerifle fags, they took a lightweight design that was supposed to reduce the weight of the ammo soldiers carry and ruined it. At this point we could have just gone with a fucking modernized AR-10 in .260 Remington and saved all the fucking money they dumped into this program.
>>31488076
I'm okay with it. One more cool gun to collect.
>>31488076
KEK! fucking called it months ago when the 6.5mm meme was lauded as the frontrunner despite weighing more than 5.56. Dumb googles, Thee WILL NEVER BE AONE ROUND OLUTION! Oh well, see you in 30 years based CTA.
Well, americans innovation as usual.
I have lost hopes in this country.
Nowadays, russia does far more with their tacticool AKs.
Oh no! An ayyylien invasion is happening! Wat do, /k/?

Legit question here
Why the fuck is there 3 version of the F-35.
Okay i get why there is an F-35B.
But couldn't the airforce just use the F-35C? I mean look at the picture, the F-35A and F-35C have almost nothing in common.
The C variant needed an arresting hook and a sturdier landing gear but why did the whole airframe had to be different. navy f-18 and CF-18 are, as far as I know the same plane, they even have foldable wings and arresing hook. Same goes for the rafale, carrier and land version are almost the same.
The F-35C is going to be more expensive to maintain, is more expensive to buy and can carry two tons LESS than the F-35A.
>>31488040
so there is no way the cost of developing another version upsets the cost fielding a slightly more expensive plane?
>>31488025
The F-35C is much heavier and therefore it has reduced kinematic performance compared to the F-35A.
Of all the versions, the F-35C has the most titanium reinforcements, which makes it the best suited for dealing with the shock involved of landing on a carrier. The F-35A has titanium, but not as much, which makes it lighter and thus more maneuverable. The F-35B has no titanium whatsoever, because it has the softest landing and so it doesn't need it.
So, how would you guys kills a T-800 terminator? Would you shoot it in the dick?
>>31487938
Use one of these, because I know 50 cal won't do shit for some reason.
>Me: Hey! I know where John Conor is! Go kill him, he owes me money!
>Terminator: Where is he
>Me: *address to DNC*
>Terminator: Hand me your clothes and car
>Me: My pleasure
>>31487938
If these became a legitimate problem, probably an armored vehicle of some sorts with a .50 or larger mounted hmg. Perhaps a dshk or m2. Might even go as large as a kpv if needed.
Reloading thread?! Currently set up for .308 only. Looking to expand to 5.56 for blasting ammo. I can get 55gr bulk bullets and have brass. Any reccomendations on an easy metering powder?
Current .308 load:
168gr SMK
39.9gr H4895
MKE stamped brass (ZQ1)
CCI #200
COAL 2.790"
>pic related
My freshly built bench

Bench looks good thumbsup.jpg
I just have a pretty basic Lee setup. I use Varget powder for pic related and a SCAR 17S
Hornady 168gr BTHP
44.0gr Varget
Hornady brass
CCI Large Rifle Primers
COAL 2.795
Last trip out I got .58" group at 100y which was the best in that load range (42 up to 44 grains in small increments)
-9mm dies
-dies for .303 Brit
-dies for 7.62x54
-dies for .308
-lee pacesetter dies 6.5x55
-lee 4 hole classic turret press
-4 hole turret(s) [lees website]
-Lyman electronic calipers
-Hornady m2 case tumbler
-walnut lizard bedding (petsmart)
-neck die set -group A-popular rifle cartridges (6.5x55) , rcbs website

-get more reloading manuals
-case lube
Would this make for a decent reloading setup ?
>>31488522
Just don't get the regular Lee 4 hole turret press, I had one for years and it was shit. I didn't lose anything from switching to a basic single stage either, but apparently the Classic Turret is pretty good. If it's anything like their Classic Cast I'm sure it will be fine.
I don't really know about the Cam Lock trimmer; I've had really bad results with a Forster so I gave up on trimmers that hold the case at the head. I have a hardon for the Wilson though, if you can find one for a price you'd like to pay I'd say give it consideration. It's such a nice operation and the results are about as good as you can.
It's a good idea to get some check weights for your scales.
Are any of you a big enough fan of NAA pistols to be able to answer a question for me?
Pic is their black powder pistol, which I have. There is a conversion cylinder available that will allow you to fire .22lr, but you can buy a regular .22lr cylinder and a regular .22lr hammer for half the price of the conversion cylinder and without having to deal with the damned little plugs that allow it to be fired.
Will the .22lr cylinder and hammer fit in the BP model? Or were they designed to not be compatible?
Email the OEM.
>>31487751
Why would you buy a black powder mini revolver in the first place? Where through fuck do you even get black powder .22s? Are you high?
>>31487751
Supposidly the cylinders need to be fitted to each of them. Looking at my friend's NAA Wasp, it looks like the cylinder stop had some final fitting to ensure the correct lockup position.
is this a famas?
Looks like a VHS-2
Famas is just a general term, meaning that the clip is behind the assaultpistolgrip. So yeah that's a famas.
>>31487670
definitely looks like a famas
Does china make good weapons in general? not talking about vehicles here only the weapons themself
They look cool, but that's as far as my limited knowledge can take me
They make copies better than Americans do by a mile.
>>31487605
their AK generics are pretty gud.
Are submersible aircraft carriers practical in this day and age?
Unfortunately not
but they'll always sail in the sea of my dreams
>>31487576
We already own the seas so not really
The closest we'll get is the SSGN. It fulfills more or less the same role.
"The Siege of Jadotville took place in September 1961, during the United Nations intervention in the Katanga conflict in Congo-LĂ©opoldville in Central Africa when a company of Irish UN troops were attacked by troops loyal to the Katangese Prime Minister Moise Tshombe. The lightly-armed Irish soldiers resisted Katangese assaults for six days as a relief force of Irish and Swedish troops unsuccessfully attempted to reach the Irish force besieged in Jadotville"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHNtzyXvyLc
Upcoming movie release about 150 odd underarmed Irish troops stranded in the arsehole of nowhere taking on 5000 opponents consisting of kangalese, belgian and german mercenaries who had air support and arty.
Definitively illustrating the UN have always been arseholes.
Any interest kommandoes?
FALs
Vicars
Scoped Lee Enfields
Brens
No interest?
Sweet, I see some Carl Gustavs
Literally can't wait.
/k/, I think it's time I get a surplus C&R bolt action.
While I would love to have the money and reloading equipment to supplement the cash I'll have to dish out for the less common ammo, which C&R bolt guns and more importantly, what caliber ammo will be more easy on the wallet to shoot? What has the more available surplus ammo?
SURE, I know most people will chime in with the nugget, but other than the nugget? I've been looking at the Swiss straight pulls or the mauser rifles.
Any input?
just get an AR-15
>>31487247
A large-ring Mauser has a wealth of cheap aftermarket parts, everything from triggers to barrels in all sorts of calibers. And it'll last forever. I'd go with that, unless you're enamored of a particular rifle because you dig the army that used it or the historical period it was fielded in.
>>31487262
I have an AR-15
I also have a pump 12ga
a couple handgats
just got an SKS
have garand on the way
Outside of maybe a modern bolt action, a revolver, and a battle rifle in .308
I think I'm set for being well-rounded.
