Ok so my uncle wants to buy one of these gimmicks. For 1k I told him there's a bunch of better options for home defense.
He also said he's going to keep 2 shells inside because he has kids so he won't even use its 3 shell capacity...
On top of all this he said he wants to use birdshot because it has more pellets and spreads faster which means "I don't have to aim none" in his words.
What's the best way of talking him out of wasting 1k?
And yes he believes that racking a shotgun will scare off a home intruder.

How would "the old twirly whirlies" even work?
In the table top game they are said to have chains. But chains would not spin like that in flight.
I could see light weight fixed blades with a slight bend to catch air like a propeller set on a smooth rotation point in the back of the bolt with a stop to keep them from going all the way back working but would that slow them down too much?
From a laws of physics standpoint i cant really see them working. But they are still cool.

I respect the company, but the products are hit-or-miss. They come up with some amazing designs, but don't really have the manufacturing expertise to put said designs to good use.
