As a new shooter should I be proud of this?

Last week I could barely get more than 16 rounds in a 12 inch target at 10 yards with my Hi Power. This week I started off at 7 yds, shot about 5 rounds (When I go to the range I load 10 in the mag, shoot, write down notes, then change targets and start again) then moved up to 10 yds

I know I'm still pulling to the left a bit, but I've got it much more under control than last time I went to the range. I need to do more dry-fire practice.

How much better can I expect to get with a handgun

Improvement is all that matters.. Persistence not perfection
>>
>>31842227
Not terrible. Frankly if you're new you should be proud that you're actually on paper for most/all of your shots.

You could get stupidly good with a handgun but that depends on physical ability, mental ability, and determination. IE Jerry will always be better than you, but you could very well become better than me (which honestly isn't that hard, I suck with handguns).

A guy brought this beauty to the range. Colt Army Special in .38. Serial number dates it to 1916. He was shooting without issue for the first 50 shots. He hand loaded brass, pistol powder, cast bullets. Then, this happened. I was struck in the face by the shrapnel 10 yards to his left.

He claims that he did not overload them. The barrel was clear, so it wasn't a squib. Any thoughts on what happened?

Anyone have experience with pic related (Spectre 80)? I've been doing some research but can't find much info on the quality of the finished product, just build videos. Is it comparable to a Glawk-brand Glawk?

Also 80% lower / home build general I guess.

Id avoid it.
No metal reinforcements on the frame rails for the slide too ride on.
>>
>>31842080

I was under the impression there was some metal reinforcement (albeit screw-in), but is that really that much of an issue though? How much force is even acting on the rails in a locked-breech pistol?

Sure steel is stronger than plastic, but is the added strength even necessary?
>>
>>31842080
>>31842493

Seems the forward rails are metal but the rear are plastic. This is in line with a number of other handguns, so it may be fine. I did find one reference to someone's rear rails cracking after 2000 rounds, but that's it. These have been out for a while - I figure many have probably put 5000+ rounds through, and if they had serious issues they aren't complaining very loudly...

Smallpox blankets.

How does the propulsion on this thing even work? It has 8 boilers, 11 turbines and a collection of diesel generators.

All I can make out is that it probably has 8 giant flame thrower type things with boilers surrounding it, the steam then is fed into 2 large turbines that probably drive the propellers via gearboxes. Then there's 9 small turbines that turn electrical generators presumably powering electrical things while the conventional diesel generators appear to be for when the steam system fails.

Why didn't they just build large gas turbines?
43 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
Exactly that
Because they wanted to support the boilermaker industry in Mykolaiv
>>
essentially they use nuclear reactors to turn water into steam which they then use to run the turbines, nuclear reactors because that way they can go years without refueling (almost certain they get the water for the boilers from the sea)

Why does it seem like only Britain was able to figure out a way to fit 10 rounds in a bolt-action rifle during WW2?

>>
>>31841972
Rimmed cases you faggot.
>>
>>31841972
they figured out how to do it like 50 years before WWII. It was nice but not a huge deal to have in a bolt action, especially when you still reloaded with 5 round clips.
>>
>>31841972
The Lebel also held 10 rounds

Can someone please explain to me the feasibility of the Ballistic fist as an actual weapon?

For the uninitiated, it's a wrist-mounted, pressure plate activated double barreled shotgun, from Fallout 3 New Vegas. You punch something, it goes bye-bye.

Thoughts?

So stupid it might just work.
>>
>>31841991

Is the recoil really all that much? You don't dislocate your shoulder every time you fire a shotgun normally. You could even add a vent to feed the gases forward and limit the recoil.

Typical Mauser bayonet for an M91-style fore-end. It might have come from many different countries, but I'll bet money it's a Turkish M35; does it say "ASFA" on it anywhere?

Hey infantry guys. I wanted to get a feel for how infantry life is. I'm joining the army after college and would like to go to Airborne school (my dad didn't go when he was in and regrets it) and possibly Rangers. I hear how infantry is treated like shit by pogs, but every pog I've spoken to seems to respect grunts. Any stories/advice?

You aren't treated like shit by anyone apart from uppity corporals and lance jacks

Hey dudes,

I've been thinking of getting into long range marksmanship, and now I've decided to go for it. Precision rifles are almost non existent where I'm from, and the ones we do have come at a price that is at least 300% marked up.

So, I've decided to build my own. I know I'll be using mauser action (because it's most prolific in these parts), found a decent MG barrel chambered in my caliber, but I need to figure out the stock. I've decided to make it myself.

Laminated wood is going to be the material of choice, but I can't figure out which type of wood is best for this application. Anyone have any ideas? I'm really open to suggestions.

If you can afford to pay a little more for ammo, go with 6.5 Creedmoor. it's a better long range performer

Mine wasn't what I expected.

2015 - fighting has pretty much finished, only footprint was within HKIA and some other camps in the Kabul area.

Very few road moves (was summer, helicopter safer).

Had a couple of rocket attacks, and an attack on camp integrity (All I heard was the gunfire, I think the camp was about a mile from HKIA) and some VBIED's that you could hear / see the smoke from.

It kind of felt like I went to 'war' but didn't.

I have a lot of respect for the guys that got into the shit there, but I wasn't one of them.

How was your trip?

Just 1 deployment? Are you still in?

Mine were more eventful than that, especially Afghanistan. Mine were 2007 and 2009. What did you expect, 2015 is pretty late to the party.
>>
>>31841549

Still in, and I would have liked an earlier trip, I will probably get another trip next year.

You're right with the late to the party comment, pretty much when last drinks was called and the bar is shut.

How were your trips?
>>
>>31841531
> deployment
when i joined up i was delusional enough to think id get a trip or two

but my country isnt sending nearly as many people as it has in the past, chances of a trip is ridiculously low unless you're high rank or just blessed as fuck

i suppose thats both a good and a bad thing.
good thing because its selfish to want a war just so I can go deploy.
bad thing because i am selfish.

Long story short
