leave ISIS to me!
In all seriousness, will these ever see deployment?
>>31856564
In all seriousness, what is this thing?
>>31856627
>>31856564
it's a PHASR rifle can't you read?
What is the deal with Massachusetts and ARs?
Everywhere I read it was 'ARs are BANNED in MA none at all!'
I recently moved here, and went to my closest FLGS. Tons of ARs. I asked the owner about the ban and he just laughs and goes 'Yeah, well, you know its fine.'
Okay maybe its a hardcore 2nd Amendment gun store. I can respect that.
A few weeks later I check out my local outdoor gun club/shooting range. They give me a tour on a Saturday, tons of shooters from all around the area.
ARs. Left and right.
Again, I mention the ban and ask "Aren't ARs specifically banned in MA?"
Range guy kinda laughs and goes "Yeah.... not really."
What am I missing here?
>>31856507
Are you actually autistic?
>>31856507
How else do you get people to buy a certain gun? You scare them with ban. How many people bought Catcher in the Rye because it 'was' a banned book? If you scare people with the idea that it will be taken away later they will buy Now. Welcome to America my friend, enjoy capitalism
>>31856569
I hope not. What are you implying?
Alright let's get some /k/reatives I'm here.
I've had an idea for a stupid weapon system that's basically a T-shirt cannon rigged up to fire soup cans at lethal velocities.
What PSI would it need?
Is it being powered by air completely stupid?
Would propane or acetylene combustion be the only option?
What stupid shit have you thought up?
>>31856023
Don't they already have the can cannon?
>>31856832
>>>31856023 (OP) (You)
Well I guess with a little innovation this could comically fire regular chicken and noodle soup at your attacker.
And just like that I can die happy.
>>31856023
You'd have a hell of a time getting the terminal ballistics worked out. To start with, you're going to have a hard time getting any accuracy with the lack of a barrel seal, so you'd need to use something like an old black powder miniball system with wadding to get you a good seal, but considering the diameter, you're basically talking about a napoleonic-era field cannon.
Then you have the shape of the can being un-aerodynamic for one, making it prone to tumbling. You could overcome this with some sort of rifling setup, but that's going to require a lot of custom machining and potentially custom cans, making the whole thing a lot less appealing.....maybe some sort APFSDS-style discarding sabot and stabilizing fins?
something that has me weirded out:
>be me, recent college grad working at an office in finance
>get randomly talking with coworkers about sports and stuff, guy brings up that he shoot clay and skeet, i do IDPA and talk about it.
>supervisor (my immediate boss) overhears and says she mostly did skeet but was thinking about trying IPSC or IDPA because it looked pretty fun, asks me if i wanted to talk about it over lunch
>say sure, day passes, we hit up the cafeteria and talk about shooting sports mostly and hockey. this is in MN btw, in case anyone is wondering
>says she's been thinking of getting a PTC for her pistol. takes a drink from her latte with cream when i ask what it is and says it's a nickel Beretta Cougar, in 9mm. she likes the overall size, but it fits the hand well and can take a pounding from heavy +P ammo (or "heavy loads" as she put it)
>at this point i think she's hitting on me. before i can figure it out, she asks what i shoot for pistols and i generally use a newer glock 35 for the standard division.
>we clean up the table and says she'd like to try it out, she's never fired a striker before, just revolvers and DA/SA. she'd love to puts hands on my glock and squeeze a few out (jesus christ, she's like 8 years older than i am).
>after work is done for the day, she asks if i had a PTC and i said no but was thinking about it. since i brought up the lack of external safeties and simple design, she said it sounded like a smaller one would be a solid carry choice like a 42 or something.
so long story short i think i have a range date with an older coworker next week and while i've taken a couple girls out to the range once or twice, i've never been talked into it before. should i just bring a variety like i usually do, or just stick with what we talked about? also realistically what are my chances with this woman? she's pretty hot for an older girl - definitely the "stacy's mom" vibe with a dose of sultry curves.
>>31855927
>>31855927
Up to you bruv. But know this; you'd show off to your boys, are you willing to show off to her?
>Glock 35
She's probably just joking with you because she thinks your gay for competing with a .40
do y'all co-witness? if so how does one zero? separately or together? help a noob out!
Separate, lower 1/3 cowitness is my preference
>>31855497
>Separate
they'll line up that way? I read on some gun blog to do them together in order to make sure they're aligned with each other
Whichever you like. It really doesn't matter
I know we've been over this 1000 times but every time someone convinces me not to buy a gas piston, someone else convinces me to buy one. I'm gonna buy a high end AR soon and was just gonna spring for a Daniel Defense but now the LWRC piston rifles are starting to look really nice to me. Both arguments have essentially boiled down to:
>Gas piston is more reliable
>No DI is more reliable
I'm just not convinced either way. Money is not an issue btw I work two jobs.
>>31855365
Just buy the DD and stop bitchin
No one outside of 'spergs on /k/ cares. No one will ever come up and ask to see your gas system. If they do, they're a fucking weirdo and they want to collect your teeth and toe nails to make jewelry, so don't let them near you.
Piston adds unwarranted complexity, points of failure, and weight, without a corresponding improvement to reliability. If you want a piston, buy a gun designed to use one, and not some AR retrofit. They are designed to use the stoner gas system and only that.
Odd question but on the off chance...
I just arrived in the Orlando area and I'm looking for a roommate. Any local /k/ommandos looking to make some money and/or want (non sexual) human companionship? Looking for regular roommates on Craigslist too but I figured trying here wouldn't hurt either cuz then I wouldn't have to worry about roommates complaining about the fact I own guns. This does of course include the risk that one of you might eat me or jizz in my brownies as this is 4chin but whatever. Please feel free to sage and abuse my useless thread.
Fuck off with this shit, ATF
>>31855831
What?
>>31855831
What?
I promise I'm not ATF - just curious. Who here just straight up DOESN'T follow local gun laws? I mean, they are unconstitutional aren't they?
also, 'nam was a cool time for operating (stealth 'nam thread)
Alphabet soup belongs in my bowl not on my chan agents get out REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Alright /k/ I know nothing about firearms but I seemed to have stumbled on a gun piece of some sorts. I'd appreciate if anybody could share some knowledge
Can you take a picture from the other side?
Where did you find it? and you need to take a pic of the whole thing
How do you use one of these?
You hit the other guy with it
>>31855089
Before he hits you
You grasp the ricasso and use it like a short spear, or swing it it a "∞" shape, build momentum, and then walk into the opposing pike formation.
Will I get kicked out of the shooting range for practicing my tactical gun plus knife combo wielding?
>>31855042
I'd kick you out if I was the RO. So probably.
We can only hope.
>>31855042
Yes, just be an idiot in your own dwelling.
>like the rest of us.
Building my first AR and I've chosen it too be .308. I'm not sure on forking over 280$ for a stripped lower but is that really the mean price?
>>31855002
depends on the lower. last time i bought a stripped AR-10 lower (DPMS rather than Armalite spec) it was $150.
>>31855002
120 for tm stripped lower when I built mine.
>>31855002
>going for a 7.62 NATO/308 AR
>already complaining about price on a stripped lower
boy are you gonna have quite a journey ahead of you
I'm seeing a horror movie with this girl but she is scared to go out tonight cause of the killed clowns. She then agreed. I offered to carry if she wants. But she didn't say yes or no. But after she agreed she said you'll protect me.
Does /k/ usually carry on dates? Does it weird the girl out? I'm in Texas btw
don't advertise it, that's cringey
use it if you need - then you are hero
otherwise, she should only know about it when she is pulling down your pants - then might be a turn on for her
>>31854972
>Not carrying every day
>Texas
If you're out of the house your gun should be on you
>>31854988
Well it's a Glock 19 so there is a noticeable bulge often
What does /k/ think of the new Australian service rifle?
>>31854847
It's an Australian AUG
/thread
>>31854847
I am saving my shekels as we speak.
I love the aug, and this one is improved and will hopefully have better priduct support than styer.
>>31854847
Looks like what would happen if a F2000 and AUG fucked
>never shot a gun before
>go to range, bullshit my way into rental
>fire, reload, and handle gun all based on Hickok45 and call of duty
>shoot 9mm CZ p-09 no problem
>place target 7 meters out
>look at target, would probably pass CHL test based on scoring
what is the reason for starting .22, and why does anyone act like this is difficult?
why do you guys recommend a wussy caliber (.22) in the sticky when 9mm can be handled by a complete neophyte?
>>31854734
I don't actually suggest .22LR as a first gun, but when I teach people I usually start them on one. It's a good way to ease them into shooting without intimidating them. I've seen plenty of macho tough guys run off with their tail between their legs after they shoot something like an AK or Mauser for the first time.
most new shooters are pussies, so .22 is good for light recoil, little noise and such.
i dont think anyone other than noobs act like its difficult, maybe to make new shooters feel better
.22 is good for practicing fundamentals cheaply and as I said before with little recoil
Because its cheaper to shoot.
Its good to start children on as well, but theres no problem starting with something bigger if you dont mind the cost.
Its just nice to be able to take a .22 and a shitload of ammo somewhere and dick around all day. If you are only going to ranges then maybe thats no big deal. I grew up hiking around the foothills with my dad, he carried a lever gun for mountain lion defense, i lugged around the .22, carrying several boxes of .22lr is less hassle than something bigger.
