In HEMA, how easy is it to sneak in a chest kick?
>>31852894
id say its pretty hard not to so obviously telegraph it, i think its easier to stick with your weapon because of how much faster it is

Extremely difficult. Juncture between hand and weapon acts as a second joint. Weapon changes direction too quick.

You should try /wsg/ for threads like this. They last longer, and you have sound too.

/wsg/ seems to be dry on this kind of content, i normally wouldnt bother but id really like to build my folder a bit

I've had 150 image reply firearm threads on there. I can't imagine how swords would be different.

because they're swords and not firearms?

Lets say 19 out of 20 times you will get a nasty hit with a 4-5 foot long and 3lbs heavy well balanced steel bar by somebody that trains for years to swing it hard and fast. Your foot is only protected by thin sneaker and consists of dozens of little bones and tendons. For that reason actually fencing is strongly preferred to karate kicks.

im not sure if you are trying to disprove me? i know its better

Kicks are rare in hema, because
a) it's easy to get it (with all its huge blood vessels) chopped
b) grappling is better/more important priority in tight binds
Interesting thing I saw in competition though with messer/dussack is when both fencers have grabbed each other's weapons, and one guy push kicks the other in the hand/forearm to make him let go.
