I've recently been getting this stinging/soreness pricking feeling in my elbow and it's gotten to the point where it's become distracting from work. Pic related is how my elbows rest on my armrest. I've been playing PC games for 7-8 years now and the height of my armrest to my desk has stayed the same so it's come as surprise to me. Is something catching up to me? I don't rest my weight on my elbow either. It just sits there. THe most pressure I put on it is drawing from the elbow for long strokes (which takes a second at the most). Anyone got a fix for this?

Your forearms are supposed to be parallel to the floor and at a 90 degree angle to your upper arm.

guys i'm so fucking sick of exercises and rotting in front of youtube videos, stressi g myself out to git gud. i just wanna have fun. That's the reason i started drawing. But if i dont get good i can never live off it. What do? i just want to have fun with art again

Not gonna make it.
>>
Look bro, cut the time you use on exercises a lil bit and use the extra time to fuck around/ do something you like. Or better yet, grab a bunch of finished studies and get creative with them. Like, dunno, add wings on someone's head or combine an animal study with a plant study to create a weird-ass hybrid thing. Who said you can't play around while you practice stuff?
>>
then draw for fucking fun

i swear to god the mentality that people have on this board is self-destructive

you generally shouldn't aim to make art your sole income - get a job and do this as a hobby to retain the pleasure you get from it

I have recently rediscovered drawing with pen & ink, using dip pens and india ink. I used to like it as a kid but mostly forgot about it. I'm not a comics or manga guy (no more than a passing interest anyway), but I've been reading/watching up on comics inking as part of my overall research.
Anyway, it seems the Zebra G nib is an industry standard in the manga world. Ive seen the odd demo or blurb, but nothing in depth as to what makes it such a characteristic tool in manga.
I ordered some and tried them out and I find them finicky and a bit scratchy and inelegant for traditional Western style drawing use.

Can anyone tell me why these are so special and know of a good reasonably in depth tutorial?

>Can anyone tell me why these are so special and know of a good reasonably in depth tutorial?
Versatility. You can produce an extremely wide variety of lines with a G-Pen, from very thin to very thick, and it's not as hard as a crow quill so it's very easy to do so. Once you get used to it there's very little you can't do with it, outside of extremely thick lines.

The Zebra is the least scratchy of the Japanese brands, IMO. Use it for a while and it'll become noticeably smoother. If you want something that draws smoothly right away, Leonardt's General Handwriting Pen is the same nib with a slightly less sharp point, but draws extremely smoothly.

It's really just a very good medium flex workhorse. What problems are you having, exactly?
>>
Yes, thanks, Alphonso is skilled and very generous with his info.
He works mostly with Sakura fine liners.

A couple of weebs have made vids about manga pens but there is surprisingly little. And none that I have found that speak to these nibs' peculiarities and helpful techniques.
Anyhow. I thought there would be a huge number of trad-mangakas on here. (I mostly hang out on /pol/)

How the FUCK does he do it, /ic/?

I'm rewatching the head structure series for the 5th fucking time and I still have no idea what I am supposed to do.

It's fine when I'm drawing alongside the video, but I'm lost when I'm on my own.

I understand Hampton's Loomis 2.0 and Borenstein's Riley-lite, but I can't wrap my head around this shit.
He makes it look so natural and effortless.
When he does it, it just looks like it's the logical way to draw the head and I want to learn, but I'm hitting a wall.

I adore this; it is the supplemental non-materialistic painterly execution that ripostes against this webpage's most haggard customs perpetually torched with legions of faculties exuding forth from their tired aged tomes.

Such effervescence removes the sense from emotion and delivers our experience to an intermediate place that is paramount to the restatement of bi-lateral shapes in the glades of draftsmen.

Previous Thread >>2785835

Post your current drawing here and be an asshole to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then kill yourself.

Hello, I've been reading about a lot of books about drawing, the one that looks complete is the THE PRACTICE & SCIENCE OF DRAWING BY HAROLD SPEED, but there is a catch, it is really a old book, so there a a lot of old concepts and stuff.

Is there an updated version or similar book like this?

Books that you make me evolve and stuff? I'm a begginer, but the other books seems like a tutorial or something, it is not like I'm really learning to draw.

Thank you very much.
