What is your New Years Resolution going to be?
Get talented.

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj
>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
OLD THREAD: >>2789616
Hey /ic/. I've been considering doing a short story comic just for entertainment purposes. Do you think my art style would appeal? Also are their any small comics that you know of that have a similar art style? I'll leave a few additional images in the thread.

Thanks again guys.

First Proko and now Ruan. Was imagination a meme all along?
Jokes aside though, thought it was an interesting little video on Ruan and wanted to share with you guys.

She wants the D badly.
Also, do the chinks not have a word for "idea", or what?
>>2791762
>i just drew it in a disordered and casual way. because very likely i would not show them to anyone
there ya go
>>2791766
he draws something new from imagination at the end
i don't know if this should go here, but are good social skills necessary for moving up in the art field?
like, hypothetically speaking, if my portfolio is fucking incredible, but i myself literally have the charm and people skills of a diseased goat, will i still get hired? will creative teams still want to work with me?
>>2795480
Yes, but we know you don't have that portfolio. And that you'll always say you're working on it to be the greatest ever.
Does drawing sculptures (particularly HIgh Renaissance stuff) help or is it just a meme?
After a few studies I feel like I learned some things about shadows, but is there anything else you can use them for?
>>2795204
if you're studying the work of a skilled master (like mike) you learn anatomy too. but shading/form are probably the main thing.
draw from life though, otherwise you might as well be drawing from photos of real people
>>2795204
>memes lmao
>After a few studies
>"few studies"
>asking stupid questions
You're already never gonna make it. Don't bother. Art is not for you
>>2795220
Oh look someone who thinks he is superior to everyone else because someone is asking a genuine (although stupid) question. You could at least give advice if you're so much better than everyone.
ITT: Things that have changed your way of thinking- thus helping you improve!
Sometimes improving in art comes from changing the way you see things! Tell everyone about a realization/quote/change of understanding helped you improve. Even the smallest, dumbest thoughts can help you out.
I'll start:
Had a hard time rendering materials, teacher said.
"The difference in materials is how light sensitive it is, especially as it recedes into the distance."
Had a hard time putting several people into a scene. Friend (way better than me) said;
"Make them act."
>>2791944
ah, good thread
some friends of mine always drew feminine fingers curved upwards. helped me out with drawing hands through gestures.
also, this was way early, but I kept hearing that legs can be a little longer than most of the proportions, and it helped out with the measurements for a while, when I was learning how to construct.
>>2791944
awkward painting, that's an uncomfortable and fly-swatted pose, particular for the arm on the viewer's left.
>before you erase a bad line, use it as a reference to draw the fixed line.
seems simple and obvious but blew me away.
>real color has a mix of warm and cool tones in everything.
>value is more important than hue.
>making accurate mid-tones before rendering is extremely important.

This is what liberals call "art".
Fuck this let it slide to the bottom
critique, rip me apart artfags tell me how to improve also critique thread on most recent paintings youve done, pointers on what to work on would be appreciated.
>>2793760
I'd practice drawing portraits and hands and so on with pencils/charcoal before attempting to do such portraits. Also, buy a smaller brush and focus on details, shadows, space. But you seem to have a natural feeling for composition and color, it just looks like you never put any practice into your art. It looks more on the "naive" side, which isn't bad, but people on /ic/ will criticize you like mad.
>>2793760
It'll take you at least another 5 years for you to be anywhere decent
>>2793769
That's the most stupid reply in the world.
Does anyone else here want to learn art just to impress normies? I want girls to think I'm cool and interesting and sensitive. I also enjoy being complimented on the stuff in my sketchbook. I don't care about money or getting on some famous artist's level. I can draw portraits of people and still life easily. I can also easily copy other people's art.
> I can draw portraits of people and still life easily. I can also easily copy other people's art.
Post your work.
>>2775760
i think shes kinda cute
>>2775760
well i've gotta tell ya, thats shallow as fuck and completly inefficient. As far as getting chicks that is. Every1 likes the compliments on their art, we all whores here
also post something of yours that impresses 'normies'
So do I draw shit upside down to get rid of my symbol drawing
Or do I turn everything I see into basic shapes to be able to reconstruct it again?
Which one is it you icfags
you get the ligameme surgically implanted and then stick your hand in an electrical socket to get some extra sparks and then you fuck off
Drawing from an upside down image is not a valid technique for learning, it is only used to demonstrate how symbol drawing negatively affects our work. It won't make you drop symbol drawing. What will make you drop it is recognizing real 3d shapes and forms and getting used to drawing them.
Illusion of life or animators survival kit and anything else like that.

I dream of a time where I am not afraid to look at my art after a break.

I dream of a time where I am not pleased with everything I do
>>2793262
I'm so glad that I'm past that phase. It took years of therapy and antidepressants but I finally don't want to kill myself every time I see my work.
>>2793262
I love looking at my art though. Even if it sucks, I made it with these hands.
