Kek'd. Almost as funny as Debian being sued by Pixar for their logo being Buzz's chin swirl.

wtf i hate linux now
Windows 10 doesn't make that shit
Anyone still use a Windows Phone?
I used a Lumia 750 for a few weeks recently, I hated it so much. Most web pages won't load and there aren't good cloud storage clients. I guess for calling and texting it was okay, but the screen was a little too small for me. Not to mention the UI was absolutely ugly. Most apps from the store did a poor job at properly emulating the style. Would not try again.
I now have a hand-me-down nexus 5.
>>56293913
I have one... I'm using it... It's OK...
I use a 950xl. Its pretty great. Only thing missing is snapchat but other than that it does what i need it to.
>he uses linux because he's afraid that the anonymous data collected by Microsoft somehow puts his privacy at risk
>however he sees no problem in taking his mobile phone everywhere so that his carrier and government can always know about his whereabouts and every single place he has been too

Lets get some things straight, /g/, CPUs are pure math barring disastrous implementations, and that's final.
The math here shows AMD's Zen core being weaker than a Skylake core in pretty much every metric, integer and AGU output, FPU, load/store/entry/register/retire size.
The only thing that might show promise is the much larger much more complex (4vs8 way) L2 cache, that might make up for the lack of hardware resources, but as said, it's more of a complex option, I can assure you if AMD had more time and money they'd go for larger resources instead of a more complex cache like in this case.
The L3 victim cache might be alarming, they're known to be much higher latencies than inclusive caches but this was obviously known in the beginning of the design phase so there might be a surprise here, AMD mentioned 5x the b/w of BD L3.
On the other hand Zen seems pretty much equal to Broadwell in execution resources, so it's no wonder its IPC is pretty much equal.
Anyone feel like adding in their thoughts?
It's a smaller core, no way around it.
If AMD claims 15% IPC for Zen+ then the core should be quite a lot bigger in 2018.
Guess if I want some technical discussion I need to start a thread shitting on Intel or AMD
>>56293901
15% over 40% is 46% just for information, not 55%.

A time ago I bought a GPU on a garage sale to just get my build in WIP in that time, but I have never known which GPU is. Can you help me /g?
zotac or gigabyte nvidia gt XXX series ?
dunno
>>56293617
Stick it in, Windows/Speccy will tell you
Ello' /g/
Going to be building my first pc soon, but before that, I'd like to get my actual desk squared away for layout purposes.
So my question is open to any helpful input in this decision making process. What are the main things you look for in a gaming desk? Any specific models?

fuck off

Ur mom also sage
Ok thanks guys.
I'm done with Chrome. I just downloaded Torch. I really haven't kept up with browsers.
>Torch
How bad did I fuck up /g/?
Never heard of it. Is this new hipster garbage?
why tho

some of the features are memes like the torrent client built in lol. but i'm gonna give it a go
Sup /g/?
I'm looking for a tiny pc which I will use to make my own NAS + audio streamer (using a USB DAC) - which pc/board should I get?
>>56293441
RasPi

Rasp is ARM based, it has shit support of drivers for attachable hardware.
>>56293441
intel nuc

This. Whenever I see a xor swap I know the code is shit.
Elaborate please
What?
You mean doing a+b where a and b are integers is bad?
Any computer hardware engineers in here?
Also,Computer Engineering thread, includes software and hardware.
Also Pt.2Anything I should teach myself before the class?
Also Pt.3I'm planning on becoming a computer hardware engineer.
>>56293275
Not an engineer but I'm an engineering student.
I just changed my major from mechanical engineering to computer engineering.
>>56293275
/g/ is a consumer product review board. There used to be lots of EEs, but they fucked off to other boards like >>>/diy/ and >>>/sci/ or other imageboards.
/g/, I'm in the market for a new laptop for general software development. Budget is something around 2k-3k, I've been juggling around X1 carbon, XPS 13/15 and MBP. What should I get?
>>56293189
Ten Thinkpad T420s
>>56293258
I need a bit more power for external screens, virtual machines etc., and a laptop cluster is a bit too hard to carry around.
Get some high end Lenovo or something. XPS is decent too.
I genuinely don't understand why people are so fucking disgusting to people who like game compatibility (Windows) and literally anything Apple ever
>Why does /g/ hate gays and the botnet?
>>56293112
At first I thought it was Steve but they seem to be more disgusted with Apple now and that guy is dead.
I find Apple more disgusting now but that's primarily because of how much they are fucking up the music industry by treating it like the video game one with their exclusives bullshit but most of /g/'s hatred goes beyond that.
At any rate, any reason to hate apple is probably valid.
>>56293112
>why does /g/ hate dirty back-room deals trying to force vendor lock-in
Hey /g/. I noticed that the install Gentoo Android guide is quite outdated, so I started working on an up to date version with more relevant and newer app selections.
Pic related is what I've got so far. First I'd just like to do is the app lists for each category (if I missed an important category or important app please let me know).
After that I can start making it look nice, add app icons, and add descriptions for each app as well.
Let me know what you guys think and I'll try to update the image.
It looks good. I would add opera to browsers tho.
>>56294354
Plain old opera or is there a specific version you would recommend?
>Keyboards
Add Keepass2android, integrated keyboard. It's also a GOAT password manager
>Internet Browsers
Opera is probably a Chinese botnet but great for browsing 4chan. Has arrows to quickly go to the top and bottom of a thread, and it allows you to use the search function before a page loads - great for looking up a recent thread in the archive without waiting 5000 seconds.
Samsung's native Internet browser with Adblock Fast is great, has a shortcut for 'Request PC version' but it might be a Samsung botnet.
Orbot + Orfox (Android Tor)
>Root Essentials
Total Commander
Titanium Backup
SecDroid
AFWall+
>E-mail clients
Don't know if K9 still exists
Protonmail is great at the moment
Tutanota is meant to be similar to Protonmail, but Germany based, has no integrated search function and takes 30 sec to load, so maybe not
>Utilities
OpenVPN for Android for VPN users.
You must put F-droid somewhere there
ZArchiver (like 7zip)
OsmAnd instead of Google Maps
Flud for torrents
Syncthing (instead of Dropbox - decentralized and simple)
>Messaging
Signal for data messages (voice sucks though)
Silence (fork of signal for SMS)
CSipPhone (VOIP)
Antox
>Media Players
NewPipe instead of Youtube
That's what I can think of
First question: why the hell do 30" dell cost so fucking much, while their 27" counterparts is only half that much?
Second: Do you recommend TN 30" monitors? IPS is a luxury I can do without. I just want more screen space for programming and multitasking, and dual monitoring isn't cutting it.
I also have a 21" IPS screen already, so if I need some graphic related task, it'll do it.
Get a 40" 4k MVA panel or TN panel if you dont care about colors and just want more screen space.
>>56293119
got some suggested brands?
