Hey /g/, I tried asking this on stupid q general and the linux general with no answers.

I have the ubuntu OS ready on a flash drive using rufus.
I can't boot into it, it doesn't show up at the grub bootloader.
What should I do to make it show up? I'm just trying to switch from manjaro to ubuntu and nothing works
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
You'd need to select the drive in your UEFI/BIOS. If it makes it to GRUB then it's booting off your hard disk instead of your USB THUMB/JUMP STICK
>>
>>56296972
And how do I open bios on manjaro? does it work the same as windows?
>>
>>56297002
The BIOS loads before Manjaro ever starts. You need to press a certain key on your keyboard usually to access the boot device selector.

On Dells it's usually F12 - just spam it as the computer is rebooting until you see the menu.

F2 is a common key to get the BIOS settings where you can change the boot order as well.

You'll need to look up how to get into it for your specific motherboard (sometimes it's the DEL key I think)

>start of classes
>professor says in order to properly organize student count per class among other professors, he needs our campus login info to switch our classes
>hands out sheets prompting login info
>I leave mine blank and say I forgot it
>After class I talk to him about confidentiality and he just tells me he needs it or he may have to drop me.

What the fuck. I've been taught my entire life never give out login info to anyone. I can't submit a complaint because they arent anonymous and I cant afford to drop this class.

Even though the guy has been teaching for probably 30+years he could singe handedly fuck everyone over as each account holds everything that has to do with your identity. (even banking if you use online payment)

What am I supposed to do? I seemingly don't have enough power to change anything and having a shitty $11.25/hr job + donations doesn't give me much option for classes.

>So you have some valid criticism on this software project and some of its moves which seem political in nature? Why don't you just fork a project that has been made over 10 years by 100 paid developers and a 1000 contributors then, I mean, it's free software and forking a project takes no time and money whatsoever, right?

Not op but I really don't get this tap water meme. I probably drank from tap water less than 10 times in my life. I've never been to a place where people drank from tap water. Everybody either use filters or buy 5galon containers of mineral water.

>>
>>56296622
Iirc, around 6M euro's (been a while since I talked to ASML people). But it gets you only the waferstepper. You'll need some extra machinery to cut the wafer into CPUs, add lids and wire them.
For the entire process you'll need about a factory complex, research facility and microscope people to check the result.

>it's an Nvidia skimps on VRAM episode

They really never stop, do they? All those 600 and 700 series cards with 2GB weren't remotely future proof. The 970, which pretended 3.5GB was enough. And now the GTX 1060* 3GB, which is not only a 1050 Ti, but it also has too little VRAM.

Nvidia love to skimp on GPU memory, forcing you to buy a new card in a year.

>>56296251
The 1060 6GB should have been the 1060ti, and the 3GB should have just been the 1060.
>>

It should be 1050ti
