Is it possible to build a PC this small with similar amounts of power? A gaming laptop or mini-PC would be vastly more convenient for me than a regular desktop since I move around constantly, but those are pretty expensive.

Silverstone sg13b. 40 dollar Mini itx case that fits atx power supplies. It's what my current build is in. It's about the size of a shoebox, and doesn't cost a ridiculous amount of money for just a case, like anon posted before me. It's a good case, i have a cx 600 psu, r9 380 which is a full length gpu, corsair h60 liquid cooler, and a few 2.5 inch drives (which are necessary with full sized parts like this)
>>
I dont see a point to it unless you literally have no space.
A ATX form factor pc in a small case would be better for compatibility.

They're not the same thing, stop comparing them. It's like comparing windows to solaris, it's a pretty bad comparison to make. Linux is worlds different from BSD.

Welcome to /fglt/ - Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Users of all levels are welcome to ask questions about GNU/Linux and share their experiences.

*** Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread. ***

Before asking for help, please check our list of resources[*].

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Just installed debian w/o desktop environment.

Feels hard man. How the fuck does stallman get anything meaningful done w/o a desktop environment? Isn't this mode only meant for headless servers?

>How the fuck does stallman get anything meaningful done w/o a desktop environment?
>[Citation Needed
It depends on what you need to do. Maybe Stallman doesn't need a graphical interface to manage his shit, because that's not something he needs another program to worry about. Some people use WMs over a full blown DE because they are more productive on a WM.

It's all a matter of taste and doing what you like, the way you like it.

I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out with a Windows 7 64 bit reinstall. Recently my computer has started running slowly. I was getting higher than usual cpu usage (getting up to 70-100 percent on webpages), and massive slow down in games. I used avast and malwarebytes, windows defender and found nothing. Ran Ccleaner as well.

After that I used Prime95, HDtuner, and furmark, all the hardware seemed to check out. At this point I'm assuming that its a problem with windows, so I tried to scan for errors and it wouldnt allow it, which seems to mean there is in fact a problem with windows. Now apparently I can do a nondestructive reinstall, which is effectively an upgrade from the desktop using the original disc. Problem is- you cant have Service pack 1 or later if youre using an older disc, which I am.

Problem is, its not letting me delete service pack 2 from windows update, and I cant find the command prompt to do it anywhere. Should I just do a complete reinstall? Or is there some angle here I'm missing?

there is no sp2 for windows 7
>>
the nuclear option of a clean install is always guranteed saftey but have you tried hitman pro? It's a pretty good tool for catching what you already tried doesn't sometimes

if there really is something claiming to be SP2 on your PC you need to kill it with fire

I'm in the same boat, also bump.

Right now I'm working on Linux Essentials cert, after that I'm going to setup a web server to host a blog I plan on making. After that I'm maybe going for AWS certs, or RHCSA. But I'm wondering how to get in just working with Linux on a daily basis?

Any tips on making Nautilus more usable? Are there any plugins or something.. When searching in a folder, it searches my entire computer and list them for me like it's a retarded child.. Before I install something else I would love if I just could make the program act proper.

I've heard that Debian is complicated, so I really shouldn't touch that.

I like KDE better anyway, and that Mint Debian thing only comes with Cinnamon or MATE.

There's nothing complicated about Debian, don't believe in this shit. If you want to try it then just dive in, I'm pretty sure you won't encounter anything a normal google search couldn't solve.

So today my phone got a virii and sent my best friend a pic of a naked man sitting on the edge of a bed. later in the day it sent another pic of a man bare ass naked running on a gravel road. No big deal, kinda thought it was funny and i'd fix it when i got home from work. The part that bothers me is that part of the second picture included a pic of my freinds son riding a gokart at my house a few months back. I never took that picture, my phone was inside that day, but he did and its racking my brain as to how my phone got a picture of his son and then in turn send it to him. He does not have a facebook account, so no link there. help me anon, you're my only hope.
