The iToilet.
Is 18mb low ram usage for a server? Can Windows even get this low?
>inb4 tinycoreOS
>using 0.003% of your total ram
I'd be impressed if you weren't wasting massive amounts of energy by not even bothering to make use of all that RAM op
>>56298786
I only use it to host a single low traffic website. Don't know what else to do. The servers already running a few containers for dicking around.
>>56298866
Whats the website?
Use it to host a file or media server.
Why aren't laptop heatsinks soldered on? I can't think of anything that would conduct the heat better than metal itself, so why isn't it used in laptops?
>inb4 can't be done
Lots of CPUs have the heatspreader soldered on.
rip harambe
>>56298700
It wouldn't help that much, maybe lower it by one degree. Thermal paste works pretty good that's why they use it.
The heat required to melt the surface between the heatsink and the CPU would be hot enough to fry the CPU in the first place.
Can someone please explain to me why average monitors that you buy at stores today are only 1080p? For $200, you get a monitor that you can barely see a third of an average article on. You have to scroll and scroll to see the rest.
A fucking ipad has 2732x2048 resolution yet my monitor is 1920x1080. My phone also has a higher resolution and pixel density than my monitor as well!
What the fuck is going on??? How the fuck do these manufacturers get away with this shit? This is a fucking scam.
At a certain point all you're doing is making text and images sharper, not fitting more shit on the screen.
buy a higher res monitor dummy

Went to Best Buy today and saw a 4K IPS monitor going for $399 while the micro center down the street was selling a 1440p monitor for the same price. Both were 27".
Looking for a performant laptop/workstation with a graphic card that isn't aimed at gaymers. Is it possible in 2016?
The real question is do you have the money to afford one?
http://shop.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/
I came to this thread to post a link to Lenovo's workstations.

Eurocom.
Are desktops dead?
yes
See iPad Pro
Probably will become more of a novelty than it already is over the next few years.
>>56298551
Not even close. Maybe for the average person.
I've been using i3 on Ubuntu for over a year now. What are the merits of Gentoo over Ubuntu?
Faster boot times.
Your penis grows in size.
Is it possible to migrate a Gentoo install to a new drive?
Who /proxmox/ here?

What server did Hillary use?
>>56298587
She ran an exchange server on windows server 2008.

I'm thinking of making my personal computer a virtual server, so it would be simpler to reboot, save snapshot, duplicate, multiboot, have clean installs, sandbox, etc.
Is this a good idea ? Why do we still use desktop computer with OS directly installed instead of a virtualisation server, cause it seems really convenient to me.
rms
No u
fuck nanomachines

Is that physics girl?
Finally did it. Bit the dust and got a new graphics card. Still have my 7950 and don't really play any new games, looking forward to bf1 and that's about it. What have you bought recently?
Chinese food
Literally why that upgrade
How much better is a 470 than a 7950?
Does anyone else work on theoretical computer upgrades that'll probably never actually happen?

Hey /g/ I was bored yesterday and decided to set something new up. I followed the advice that you guys gave me and ordered a VESA mount for my TV (Should get here tomorrow)
Well I was wondering where you guys put your computers. Is it better to put it on the floor or desk? I put my PC on the floor and I noticed that temps might have increased a few C, another issue that I have is that it could possibly be an issue for leg space.
Anyways what should I do for my current situation?
anon, please put the computer back on the desk

Why?

dust and other filth
I just acquired Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver... with a bunch of other software. I am, however, stuck with only a Magic Mouse. Are Wacom Pen Tablets the absolute paranormal experience for making gif, png, and jpg's? I have never used one before (dont laugh).
How did you "acquire" them?
>>56298063
>implying dreamweaver is related to photoshop and illustrator
>magic mouse
>making gif, png, and jpgs
>implying most people have even used a drawing tablet
>>56298201
Trying it for month for 10 bucks. 7 day trials for dreamweaver. I dont torrent cuz i have enough money to spend.
Donald Trump's long-time doctor who revealed that the presidential candidate is in 'excellent health' could be in violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
Dr Harold Bornstein, a gastroenterologist based in the Manhattan's Upper East Side, described Trump as the picture of health on Friday.
As Bornstein sat at his desk inside his office during an interview with NBC News about Trump, his computer screen was on full display.
It appears as though Bornstein uses Windows XP software on the computer inside his office, as first pointed out by Deadspin's Tim Burke.
Back in 2014, Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP. Information that is stored on a computer operating under Windows XP is potentially at risk.
Due to Bornstein reportedly using an outdated operating system, he could possibly be in violation of HIPAA.
HIPAA requires that medical doctors protect the private information that they collect on their patients by making continued security updates to their computer systems.

>They are trying this hard to find something fishy about trump.
>Best thing they manage is his gastroenterologist had windows xp on his computer.
You can't make this shit up, I'm not even american but this is funny as hell.
