This is my first time posting here, so pardon my faggotry; but I need to ask a question. Are bodyweight exercises a viable alternative to lifting? I'm not trying to go to the olympics or anything, but can I get stronger and healthier from them?

yes and no. progressing on BW exercises is a pain compared to simply adding more weight at lifting. you are going to get stronger much much faster lifting than doing BW exercises.

absolutely. you will even get more flexible.

if you are serious about BW training read overcoming gravity book, buy a pair of gymnastic rings and a weighted vest. that's all you need and shouldn't cost much.

Yes, but getting big with bw exercise is extremely hard.

Yes, they are actually healthier in the long run than lifting weights.

You should at least try one or two dumbbell exercises into your routine.

So, time for eveyone favorite questions, health questions.
Over the last year or so, I have been vomiting up nearly everything I eat. But, this vomiting isn't your normal vomiting, it comes in mouthfulls at a time. It happens reguardless of what I eat, whether it's an apple, a steak dinner, or water and rice cracker though it does happen more with wetter foods. The vomit also contains no stomach acid, as if it did my teeth would be rotten at the rate I vomit. I'm going to see a doctor soon, but in the mean time, i was wondering if any of you had something to help?

I don't know where to ask this so here you go.

I have hemorrhoids and have been bleeding from my ass while shitting since a year or so. Since yesterday I have had it for like 4-5 times. Yesterday, however, I bled a lot, like a huge lot; the toilet paper turned red.

The shit itself is not red, but rather has red stains on it. It is a bright, rich red. The sort of stuff you see on the napkin after your nose bleeds.

I thought it could be beeturia because I ate pickled beets 2 days ago, but this really doesn't seem like it.

I had a sigmoidoscopy and blood tests after this happened for the first time, and a few months later a CT scan; because my father had ulcerative colitis. Came out clean.

Is bleeding this much due to hemorrhoids really normal? Can I develop anemia or something from it? It lose as much blood as I do during a nosebleed. So what do I do if I actually can? Go to a doctor and ask them to patch my asshole up? I have finals this week for fuck's sake.

So after reading the sticky I'm confused about how many calories I need to consume to lose weight.

I'm weighing 290 lbs so
>10-12*(current bodyweight in pounds)
>10-12*(290)
>2900-3480

So to lose fat I need to eat between 2900 to 3480 calories a day.

That's a shit ton of calories just to lose fat. Am I missing something? Is the sticky seriously telling me to eat way more calories than I already to lose fat. Something doesn't seem right here.

And that calculation already includes the 500 calorie deficit.

at 290lbs you will have a very high metabolism unless youre extremely sedentary.
People fail to realise that obese people actually burn a lot more kcals than normal people. Especially when they move.

And those eqations are only a guideline. YOu have to test it yourself through some weeks of dieting to tell if its right. And adjust it depending on your results.
