Here's the deal: I'm in school, and I can't afford any other gym around me than planet fitness right now. I want to ditch the plan the PT gave me and start something else like Starting Strength or 5x5, but Planet Fitness only has Smith machines, no power racks. I read that I can't do any kind of strength training with that.
What exercise program can I do until I can afford something better? I've looked, and every other gym around me is too expensive even with their student "discounts"

PF is a pussy shit gym. That being said, it isn't that bad for someone who isn't incredibly serious. You can definitely run SS5x5 in that hole for a long time until you can move. PF's price is pretty good honestly so unless you're looking to be a powerlifter, don't worry about it for a while. Start at PF, save some $, and move on when youre more advanced.

I am stunting my chest growth by fully concentrating on DB bench press?
Currently I am at 36 kg, aiming at 40 which is the biggest db in my gym.
I am only doing barbell bench press at the very end of my workout and I usually just do around 3x8 with 1 plate as I am far too exhausted to do more. Is this fucking up my chest growth?

My rule of thumb is the weight of the dbs +10kg is the bb equivalent, so your bench seems to lack hardcore. If you do 2 bench variations on one day to Extreme rep differences, like 3x5 bb and 3x12 db. Bench doesnt matter that much for chest gains but db is probably better

I'm at 178 lbs, 6'1" and I need to go down to less than 2000 cals a day to lose weight, 1800ish is the golden number for me in addition to cardio.
Also, if you're lifting, you may (though it's kind of unlikely) be losing fat and gaining muscle? Cut more calories and do more cardio.
