I'll start.

Printer : Da Vinci 1.0 w/ Ramps 1.4

bed : standard reprap bed

Problem : My board will not heat up past 70 degrees, which it will then stop heating, triggering the thermal runaway freeze of marlin.

The board is burnt by the d8 mosfet, should i buy a new board? Maybe i could solder other mosfets onto the board. (the current mosfet for d8 pins, get real hot). Or is the reason software?

There is usually a thread dedicated to 3d printing, you would probably have more luck there. You probably want to replace the component that's been overheating and then modify it with a cooling device (just point a fan at it or something if you're not creative). It's also advised to research the bed, and the firmware you're trying to use to heat it, to make sure they actually play nice, and also make sure that the controller board is configured correctly for the bed.
>>
>>1055975
Thanks for the reply m8, the /3dpg/ thread is dead, already replied there to no response. yea the bed is reprap 12v bed, standard. I'm thinking maybe they cheaped out on my ramps board. It was a sainsmart from microcenter.

I donno sheet about 3D printing, but I doubt it.

I do have machine tools--and the kinds of poly-whatever thermoplastic that I have sawed, drilled or machined always come out real stringy.
They don't cut smoothly at all. Only Delrin or acetal does that.

Acetal vaper good works with 3D printed parts.

It works on ABS, thats it

My crank arm/set makes a noise whenever I apply my weight to it. Not sure if my bearings are bad or if the bracket holding the bearings needs to be tightened.

In any case I'm having trouble removing it. What tool can I use to remove it? I've used one of those cheap tools that come with the bottom bracket but it's just tearing up the groves.

Pic related.

if the spanner is tearing shit up you can use a hammer + chisel and tap each notch in the nut

you'll need a different spanner to get into the dimples.

do you have a tool to get the crank arms off, you'll need that to replace the bottom bracket
>>
>>1055863
Also, keep in mind some parts are reversed threaded. You could be turning the wrong way.

creepy crank arms are normal, I wouldn't start fucking with bottom brackets as well if you dint know what your doing.

I used to BMX for 7 years and the cranks get bent and creaky after so much. not really sure why the creak but I'd leave it alone if I were you.

I always liked the creaking noise it makes to be honest.

$5 angle grinder. Probably goes without saying it's cheap. But if you dont abuse it i got one from there over 5 years ago and it still works like new. This is in store and u have to spend $50. But lets be real. Every one of us could use $50 worth of shit from there and a $5 grinder. http://images.harborfreight.com/cpi/emails/3716/b/images/AngleGrinder.jpg

AvE just did a teardown on these. They're not professional grade, but for occasional home use they seem to be a pretty good deal even at regular price. And shit, for five bucks? Why not?
>>
just use the normal coupon and get it for $12

That was the higher end model. This one is even crappier.

Well worth $5 though. I have one with a diamond wheel for sharpening tungsten.

i need ideas for colors to paint a room. im thinking navy blue, but i dont know what to color the baseboards, windowsills, and door, or the roof for that matter. ding it all one color feels too plain.

i also dont know if this is the right board for this kind of thing. sorry.

you have to post your actual room, not a fucking paint can
>>
Always do the ceiling and baseboards and trim in white. Anything else is going to look ridiculous.
>>
Also, make sure you use a similar paint to what you posted. A good latex gloss is going to look perfect in dark blue.

Guys, what can I do with this space? I'm tired of the God damn sun heating up my living room. The sun isn't paying my mortgage, so it needs to be kept out. I feel like having curtains on either side of the door would look weird.

This is my first time trying to set up stereo speakers. I grabbed 2 cheap speakers from goodwill, each of them have 1 little input on the back and on either side of that is a positive/negative part with screws in it. Now I've read how to simply connect these speakers online to a reciever, but I don't have one yet and was wondering if there was some way I could hook these up with this thing my old band friends left in my garage. It's a sunn graphic equalizer/amplifier and the pic I posted has the inputs on the back. Is there any way I can connect these two and make it work? This might sound dumb but I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to this. Im not sure if I can use that middle jack on the speakers and somehow connect it here or if it will even get power... I just don't know. Anyways any help would be appreciated

not too tricky,, ever make a compressed water rocket?

So /diy/ my room is only seperated from my roommates room by a thin 4-6inch brick wall (the cheap shit). Literally all the sound goes through the wall and he complains a lot. Is there anyway of "soundproofing" (I use this term loosely) the wall behind my desk so the noise from my keyboard is quieter in his room?? Side note I'm a DIY noob and first time using the board :/

I like these things but after a while of using it my arm feels very weak and I can't even grasp a cup. This apparently happens to a lot of people and the cause is the vibrations of the tool being sent to your arm making it weak. Is there a way to cut down on this?
15 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>1055143

Get an electric one? It's the cylinders putting out the vibration for the most part.
>>
>>1055145
I have one as well as a gas one. They are OK but the string is goddamn expensive but you can spool your own. It also has a limited range and still has vibration after a while. I use them for maybe 3 hours when I need to whip.
>>
>>1055143
The best material for attenuating mechanical vibrations is a urethane named Sorbothane. A US company makes and sells it; it can be difficult to source elsewhere in the world.

Most other soft rubber-like materials (rubber, urethane, silicone) hardly reduce vibrations at all.

A thin sheet of Sorbothane glued between two pieces of thin sheet metal also makes a great sound-deadening panel--but its way more expensive than acoustical foam is, and the nature of sound propagation is that you can't ever really absorb, block or reflect it all.

Hi /diy/
I am currently recovering from the eating disorder known as anorexia nervosa that I am sure many of you are familiar with. I do not have any hobbies and believe that committing to do it yourself projects will help me with my mental stability as I attempt to eat my way to health.

Here are the currently planned projects. I would like any feedback or ideas.

>Anorexia Spice Rack
Basic spice rack project HOWEVER with one anorexia friendly exception. The spice rack will have a built in electronic scale. I merely have to open the spices that will hang upside down and they will fall onto the scale so I know exactly what I am consuming. This will aid my recovery

>Anorexia Shed
A standard shed. However, it will be built with mirrors embedded into the structure and will have wallpaper that has pictures of cake on. This will allow me to reflect on the fact i NEED to eat more cake.

>Anorexia Belt Holder
A belt holding device. It will hold all of my belts. I usually need 2 belts due to the severity of my anorexia. (100lbs, 6'5). So, if I ever have 2 belts off the rack I will know I am failing to gain weight. I will install an LED counter which counts the missing belts

>Anorexia keychain
For my lockbox of forbidden foods

I am trying to get better, so please be respectful .

I think that by taking on these projects, you will take away valuable time and energy that could be otherwise put towards gaining weight.

Hot dog eating competitions, I suggest watching the relevant king of the hill episode and start training at once.

I am having trouble opening (or more like pulling off) the head of this 6130 Milwaukee Grinder to repair it.

It's having issues where it turns off when held in certain angles, along with a sound of metal clanking.

I removed the 4 screws from the face along with the screws that hold it to the plastic frame. I tried pulling it as most grinder heads come off to show the armature assembly, but it doesnt work. It can rotate around after the screws are off, but I need it completely off.

Anyone have any tips?

>>
open up the plastic halves where the motor is since there might be a metal lip to hold it together
>>
Can you post a few more pictures?
I'm only familiar with ripping open B&D and Dewalt tools.

If I'm understanding correctly you're probably thinking of just pulling off the front metal part.

Depending on the model specifics you're not going to get that part off without pulling out the Rotor, so I'd suggest you start by opening up the rear end and taking out the brushes.

After that remove the 4 screws from the head and you should be able to pull it off along with the rotor.
