how do i go about finding a motor for a power hammer?
what kind of motors would work? they would have to be high torque, have multiple speeds and not break if they miss a cycle
how would i find one? what do they look like/have written on them?
i made one using a bosh grinder as motor.

did you have to break it? because those cost an arm and a leg

Just use a harbor freight grinder

if by broke it you mean i can't reuse it for it's normal usage then yes, i soldered the shaft of it.
it was a grinder i used since 15 years and started to be in it's end life so i recycled it for my diy power hammer (blacksmithing amateur usage), i put tape on the trigger so it's always 'on' when i plug it. and i have a pedal footswitch with a belt to start hammering and to be also hand free.
it's gettho but that work.

the one pictured looks to be a cap start ~1HP motor, maybe compressor duty, 3450 rpm probably.
what you need will depend on your gear reduction/pulley ratio

and for the leaf spring i bought it at my local car breaker.
