We used to make "jail house burritos" in jail.
Take your unopened ramen, and smash it up.
Open up the ramen package, remove the flavoring packet.
Insert whatever you want, such as smashed dorritos, cut up sausage, smashed hot fries, it's kind of hard to fuck up.
Throw in the right amount of water. You don't want too much, just enough so that the ramen noodles will soak it up and become soft, but you're not making soup here.
Empty seasoning packet into ramen bag and mix.
Push all the contents to the lower part of the bag and fold it over itself. Then take a small towel and wrap it up very firmly so it takes a cylindrical shape and wedge it in underneath something. Let it sit for...I can't remember it's been so long....10, 15, 20 mins and let it "cook".
Afterwards you'll have a burrito-like ramen noodle....thing. It's pretty good.

Nice.
Good thread.

what did you go to jail for
So I've been wanting to make some of my own pho at home. I've been looking up recipes and they all parboil their bones before hand.... Doesn't this get rid of so much possible flavor? I've never really considered pho to be "flavorful" and I believe this is why. Would it be better if i don't parboil my bones?
Question: Do you consider pho to be flavorful?
>>8329792
Do whatever you want, it's a fucking soup
Commercial Grade Pho is supposed to have a clear broth; that is why recipe tells you to parboil bones.
if your eating it at home just make beef stock add the sugar+spices
put broth in refrigerator...
get veggys / sliced beef + boiled beef / garnishes ready (i eat the combo, but I dont cook that stuff at home)
combine broth + veggys (not garnishes)
boil noodles, heat up broth.
Put noodles in broth, put meat on noodles,
serve with garnishes

Whatever you do, procure beef tendon.

>spaghetti sandwich
do americans really eat this?
So is taste all in the mind or what? How can you accuse someone of being a pleb if they taste food differently to you? We all know foods like cilantro are genetically activated and some people just taste soap. How do we know this isn't true for all other aspects of flavors?
Exactly, if I want well done steak with mayo and ketchup then I shouldn't be judged for that

Why do you ask a question and then ask another based on an assumed answer? What if someone says no?
>>8329364
Huh?
Why are these nasty motherfuckers so popular all over the world?
>barely any calories
>barely any nutrients
>barely any fiber
>taste is too strong to eat a bunch of it fresh
>smell actually burns your eyes fresh
>cook it and most of the flavor is gone
>difficult for most people to chop and cut it evenly
>fruit flies fucking love it
>third most popular vegetable in the world
>>8329212
It's a flavour enhancer, if anything.

So /ck/, what are you baking this holiday season?
Starting a traditional English Christmas pudding this Sunday. First time (American).
Question to anyone with experience: will it be alright to have it sit in an airtight container until Christmas day? All the examples I see show it being left to rest in open-air, but I've been having a bit of an ant problem lately and would hate if they got to it.

Gingerbread
Shortbread
Peanut Brittle
Cookie Dough Truffles
Butter Tarts
my mom already made Christmas cake and Nanaimo bars, I told her to save the rest for me when I get back from college in a week

What is the best cheese and why is it vermont white extra sharp cheddar?
>>8328331
Honestly m8, in the list of 100 best cheeses, there are no entries from the US. Fact.
reminder that whether cheddar is sold as white or yellow is entirely unrelated to quality
>>8328331
if you are going for sharp cheddar Wisconsin is way better than Vermont
I've got about five of these Arby's Beef N Cheddar sandwiches in the fridge since last night, how many days will they still be good? I certainly can't eat all five today
Furthermore, some thoughts on this sandwich...I'm not liking their signature Arby's sauce much, it comes default on these and I don't like it, they would be better off if they had BBQ sauce shipped to them from some other company
I'd give them 5 days tops. By day 3 the bread gets dry tho.
>>8328187
5 days? That seems a bit sketch
>i bought shitty food and i can't use my nose or my fucking brain to know when to eat them like a fucking 5 year old child
goddamn I hope you get so sick you die
Real talk, niggas. When was the last time you have a good sit-down meal with family and/or friends?

What does /ck/ think of Chef John from Food Wishes? His videos are comfy and he's a funny guy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJzA4Zj8x9k
Pretty based and he doesn't take shit from faggot commenters
I love to watch chef John, very relaxing anti stress videos. Also has a pro aproach to cooking (except using american measures for stuff) so he is pretty good in demonstrating technique.
Chef John is one of main reasons I started to find cooking enjoyable, instead of just a chore.
Do people seriously buy certain foods for nostalgia no matter how bad the food is?
Is eating low quality food really worth the "happy childhood nostalgia trip"?
What are they putting in our food that people get high from eating crappy food?
Sugar and salt.
Moron.

Just had one about 2 hours ago and it was delicious. No guilt to be had here.

Is there a secret to cooking these?
They turn out terrible every time I cook them
Can we have a thread about cupcakes? Baking these treats is such a cinch.

Couldn't you just have a small slice? Otherwise I agree
