Post what you consider to be a good meal, healthy or tasty, in one pic. Drink is optional. I am curious as to your answers, /ck/.

Do pickles belong on a chicken salad sandwich?
I thought relish was put in chicken salad.
Pickles go with any sandwich but must be eaten on the side.
If you put pickles in your sandwich you're a filthy degenerate.
>>8458688
NO. I am sick of retards ruining delicious chicken salad sandwiches with these DISGUSTING things. Pickles are BLEH and only belong in a trash bin. People who like pickles are fascists. Fuck pickles. GROSS food I will never eat.
Anyone else adore egg salad as deeply as I do?
egg salad is good
potato salad and mac salad are better
but for me, it's the chicken salad, with grapes in it, the best lunch
Egg salad sandwiches, some tabasco and a 40 of shit malt liquor is nearly as satisfying as sex to me.

>but for me
For me
Hey guys!
So as lots of you will know, we have a yearly cooking competition here on /ck/, where people cook and present dishes according to themes which are then rated by other people taking part or just observing.
I've been in contact with a few of the competition regulars and we thought it'd be cool to up the anti a bit. Because some trolls decided to try their best to ruin the last one, we were thinking of maybe adding in a panel of 'official' judges (no spoilers but we know of someone pretty well known in the cooking industry who'd be willing to take part!), who will verify their scores with timestamps. We could keep the public vote too, but the winner of the judges votes will win the prizes.
And the other thing we were looking at changing were the prizes themselves. As a thanks to the people spending money and putting time in to this, I was thinking of pushing out the boat a bit. And if they encouraged more people to take part, that would be all the better.
Anyway, feedback would be appreciated. As well as new ideas you guys have.
:(
this is stupid
try reddit? im not even kidding. this seems like something they would like to do, and keeping track of votes/votes/ winners/judges would be much easier there
What's the BEST $1 or less fast food item, regional chains included.
>Pic related, godsend
>>8458468
Right now that's the best unless you go to a del taco.
Carls Jr spicy chicken sandwich is the best non promotional item though
For me it is the McChicken, the best fast food sandwich.

Seems unnecessarily risky for meat, a somewhat expensive ingredient. Why not just freeze it and leave the canning for cheap af in-season fruits and veggies?

retard

it was free and it's a perfect lean meat for stewing
it willl just slowly rot in the freezer, which is tiny and can break down

>Candy store I used to go to is running low on business but has a job opening
>Pretty much the only candy store for miles, used to have high quality shit back then, but fell when people stopped traveling and workers were leaving
>Shit pay as expected
>Hired on the spot because fuck this store is doing poorly
>They have shitty ways of making candies
>One candy they make is called "Carolina Gems" and as hard as fucking diamonds and barely ever dissolves in your mouth, taste is barely there
>Turns out it's made with shitty artificial lemon/line juices dried into powder, and only a few ml of trace amounts of tropical fruits all crystallized in a potassium and water mixture tub for at least 4-6 weeks
>I was given the task to harvest the sharp fuckers from the mesh they had suspended in the tub
>The whole mesh was completely covered in crystals that were impossible to take off by hand
>Had to use a hammer and nail to chisel off the meshes
>The smell was meh so I decide to try a piece
>Nearly cut my cheek and chipped my tooth
>No sweetness what so ever
>Asked if the previous makers ever put sugar in it
>Says crystals don't form correctly if they throw sugar in it
>So I thought of a better way; put sugar in the crystals half way through their formations, maybe even break off a few pieces to fit the sugars and maybe even food dyes to give the candy personality
>This also softens the candies up a little bit, so they dissolve better in your mouth
>More people began coming back once this stores signature candy started tasting better
>Recognized by North Carolina as one of the few best candy stores in the entire state
>mfw sweeting Carolina by nailing diamonds
But where does the ammonia and bleach come into the mix?

You happened to be there at the tail end of the recession. You didn't do shit kid.

>muh special cheesesteak bread
Doesn't matter despite what some scumbag Philadelphians tell you
Want to get a Frosty or McFlurry. Those are the only things that are close to me.
Which should I get?
Get an M&M McFlurry for me, OP. It was my favorite as a kid and whenever I get one I become 6 years old again.
Who are you kidding, OP? We all know you're getting both, probly some fries and mcchickens too
>>8458322
What this anon says. I prefer the oreo one, but a mcflurry trumps a frosty any day of the week.
I have $5 right now. What can I buy that tastes good and will satisfy me and make me full? Thinking about the $5 meal box from Taco Bell or the whopper jr. meal for $3.99 but thats a small and wont fill me up. Any suggestions /ck/?

Go to the market and buy some pork chops.
How do you learn to cook? This is gross and it's only mac and cheese.
I added too much milk and the cheese & noodles didn't melt together. But it's dinner, I can't throw it out, is it possible to salvage it?
I feel sick
>>8458273
>it's only mac and cheese
how much harder is it to cook over a fireplace?
>>8458229
I only have a one story home, and it's cold on the roof.
It depends how tall you are.
>>8458229
shouldnt be any harder than cooking over an actual camp fire.
just dont use those weird chemical logs that most people use in their fireplace.
Cheap food.
Chicken tacos. 1 pound of chicken breasts, packet of seasoning (I'm a slug), some corn tortillas... like $4.
Salad mix for $5 at the farmer's market lasts nearly all week long. Add $4 of cherry tomatoes from the tomato guy
Bean and cheese burritos... eggs... steamed veggies...
What's your go-to poverty chow?
dirt cookies
dumpster diving
beans and rice
canned pork anus
lobster
>>8458179
Yo, dont cut your chicken before cooking. Cook the breast and cut it afterwards.
>>8458184
If you are cooking in sauce you should cut first
Hey /ck/. I may be American, but I'm not Amerifat. That being said, right now I have the strong urge to eat even though I'm not hungry. What do you guys do when you're craving but not needing food?

Gum.
So I've always used the same recipe for banana bread, but this time I wanted it to be fluffier and lighter, so I added some milk, one more banana, and whisked it quite a bit to add some air to the batter. And it did raise a lot, well over the mould rim, however after I took it out to cool, it "deinflated" and ended up flat. What can I do to avoid this?
Take however many eggs the recipe calls for. Separate them, and add the yolks to the batter.
With the whites, whisk them vigorously for several minutes until peaks form. Then, gently fold the whipped whites into the rest of the ingredients at the end.
>>8458159
This and be careful the eggwhites and yolks are at least room temperature
You had too much liquid in comparison to the starch, so the bread didn't hold up to its own weight. The egg separation is a good idea, but if you want a cakier texture, do what you did and add a few tablespoons of corn starch. This will also lend crispiness to the crust.
And for god's sake don't whisk the batter. You'll develop the gluten in the flour and get a tough, peaked, and tunneled loaf. Gross.
