Do pickles belong on a chicken salad sandwich?

I thought relish was put in chicken salad.

Pickles go with any sandwich but must be eaten on the side.

If you put pickles in your sandwich you're a filthy degenerate.

You are correct. Traditional chicken salad has relish. That picture shows a sandwich with ambrosia chicken salad which contains zero relish. I don't really think pickles go with ambrosia chicken salad.

You are free to make sandwiches however you want to though. If you are putting on that kind of chicken salad, you might prefer a bread and butter pickle over a dill pickle. I personally like a dill pickle on the side.
