does anyone else do this on a daily basis
>find girl on okcupid you think is wife-tier, fantasize they're your wife
>find piece of multi-million dollar property on landwatch, fantasize you own it and you, her, and your children live there
>look at jobs on BLS, pretend you're an expert in the field and own companies related to it and are a multi-millionaire at a young age
it motivates me a fucking whole lot, actually.
>>1589336
Really? I actually stopped going on that site because it made me just despise women everytime I checked a profile.
>>1589336
If it motivates you then fine but don't make it a crutch I guess. This is a weirdarse thread.
>>1589366
i really barely read the profile. i just find a girl that is really cute in a wife-tier way.
Well, I failed out of Engineering and didn't want to bother with CS since it's impacted at cal poly pomona. I decided to just slowly kill myself and I heard accounting is good at that. Does CPP have a good accounting program? Here's the curriculum: https://www.cpp.edu/~cba/accounting/curriculum/course-descriptions.shtml
I was thinking of CIS, but I heard that the jobs that CIS offers are either taken by engineers, CS majors, or just outsourced. How's the accounting job market? I don't care about working with the "big 4" or whatever the number is. I just want a job that pays 50~k a year so that I can at least live comfy by myself.
>>1589330
I'm an ex accounting and finance recruiter and would recommend it if you like being depressed and having no meaning in life. Its a shit career path to be honest and doesn't pay amazing but around average have you thought about digital marketing
>>1589330
>Well, I failed out of Engineering
Literally happened to me this week as well.
I contemplate seppuku when I see my engineering friends that are doing well.
I feel your pain.
>>1589330
acct is basically as boring as finance. I'm doing both and long for death. Hopefully I get a job. If you like it there is definitely money to be made.
The biggest problem is everyone I talked to so far seems to want further accreditation while you work for them, CPA and other shit. Grad programs that go for 18 months.
Im a useless cunt with moderate intelligence, If you can read and understand and apply boring shit you can do accounting.
The trick is to not long for death lol.
Business is all about having adequate social skills. How do you improve on your social skills outside of the usual "socialize more"? I work as a server at a country club restaurant so I have to socialize with customers a lot. How can you make conversation flow more natural, especially with the more uptight people that come in?
Only reason I'm keeping this job is I'm hoping to improve on my social skills since I was sheltered for a large portion of my life.
Anyone on?
>>1589340
Confidence and a disarming personality. In your case I hope your job doesn't make you appear flustered. Personal appearance/fitness. Finally, goal oriented conversation, like sales
>>1589341
I'll try to work on my personality more, and no I don't usually get flustered. It's just I have to put a ton of effort into talking with people, and if I'm just slightly tired then it gets awkward
>If you can't get your friends jobs, what's the purpose of attaining success?
Does /biz/ agree with this?
if you have friends, what's the purpose?
>>1589256
no, your friends should get jobs on their own or else they are losers in my book.
>>1589256

How do you not quit when you lose $400?
>>1589183
I'm down 1.5k this week.
Weak hands don't get you anywhere senpai.
>>1589184
Im trying to /business/ and I lost $400 on a bad deal.
Fuck you, get back to me when you lose 10k in a day.
So, i have an opportunity to buy a business (part owner) and from what i can tell the people selling the business have it valued at a good price i just wanted to get some other opinions from anons since there is no bias. information the business is a Janitorial/carpet cleaning business since i know risk factor factors into value, in 2015 the business did 567,685$ in sales of that the business made (with owners pay taken out) 240,322$ with an estimated 35,000 in assets now since most of the business sales is contract based and the next contract expires in two years we can assume that the profit will stay close to the same if not go up since the owners have cars and what not in the business name, it has been in operation for 15 years and been profitable every year. if you can given these rough parameters what would you guys value the business at if you were going to make a realistic offer.
I'm guessing they want $2million to $4million for it.
I'd pay a million, MAYBE 2 million. I would not go over 2 million for it.
If what they are saying is true, this is a fucking killer business. great margins and cash flow, low risk, and mostly recession proof.
I say if you can get it for a million, then go for it. Maybe ask them to allow a forensic accountant to review all their books prior to buying the company.
they actually want to sell for around 850k-1mill and yes there margins are 42%
>>1589174
Dude buy it. Unless here are some hidden risks or scams they are playing on you then this is a killer deal.
They are actually fucking dumb for selling at this price.
I have a business that earns about $50k a year and I would not sell it for a dollar less than $150k.
You'll earn your entire investment back in like 3 or 4 years. And maybe less if you grow the business.
If you really wanna be hardcore, just pay a buddy to go work for them for a few weeks and do a little detective work for you, find out if everything is legit.

I'm 22, I've never owned a credit card because I've never trusted myself with one. I now feel like I need one to help extend my purchasing power in the event of an emergency. Could anybody recommend a good first credit card? Not sure if this board pertains to the topic or not.
Bumping as well, because I'm 22, and have zero credit. In fact, I know I owe a couple hundred dollars for an unpaid ER visit when I didn't have health insurance.
...AND I need to get 10k in loans from wells fargo within the year for education.
>>1589110
Hey props to you for having the courage to take out loans, those terrify me as well.
>>1589111
No fee card would be good. Get one from your bank
More importantly, I suggest paying it off weekly. Wayyyy too easy to rack up a balance you can't pay off on time and then you get nailed with interest for months

Was talking to friend's gf about college
I asked her why she chose liberal arts
>"uhhh... I still don't know what i want to do"
Ask who's paying her tuition
>"i think either my grandma or one of my aunts"
Do people seriously think like this?
>>1589092
...you spoke to her, not us
When our entire economy has been built on affordable credit it is unreasonable to expect the next generation to value their money
Yes. My friend's little sister is 19, turning 20 soon. She went to a "technical academy" for high school, but choose not to apply to a university when she graduated.
Now she's a wageslave who hates her job and wants to apply to school. I encouraged her to do so and try to get an education in a field where jobs are plentiful and in demand.
So she went to an art academy and signed up for a photography "certification".
I asked how she plans to pay, and she said out of pocket and go to school part time.
I don't have to heart to tell her how stupid and fucked she is.

aside from prostitution or anything sexual, what should she do?

> How is it free?
They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic shit.
> When is it coming to my country?
Never. They only have "plans" on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
NO! This is 4chan, a place of etiquette and professinalism!!
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform. -- (also learn difference between LIMIT and MARKET orders!!!)
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

>>1588996
I bought at 4 so it's okay, but now best case I lost 10% profit. I'm still holding CLF since their dilution. Do you think I should just sell them too? I would prefer a more succinct answer to you view of the steel market if you have the time.
What's the fucking point lads? If you miss out on investment banking / management consulting / big law jobs straight after graduation then you are literally fucked. I have had interviews for lots of great jobs but failed them all due to ugliness and bad social skills and now i work a shitty part time job while living at home and feeling like a giant loser.
Everything else is a meme desu. If you're not on "the track" then you dun goofed hard.
>inb4 entrepreneurship
You need shitloads of luck for that.
>>1588897
Oh relax. You're young, you'll figure it our. Learn to pivot. At least you've got a place to live and you're saving some money.
I graduated in May 2014 and I'm on my 6th job. I worked as a financial analyst, and my firm underwent a restructuring so I left to trade full time. I did that for a year and lost all of my money, so left. I then worked as a waiter for a few months, then worked a temp data entry job. I landed a gig with an IT contractor who turned out to be a total flake and never paid me, so I left. I'm now starting a new job doing tech support at a great company. Things don't always work out the way you think they will, but keep trying and you'll get there eventually.
Most people I know in our age group are struggling to find their place. I have friends who have been working the same job since graduation, good for them. But I also know a lot more people who have held 2 or 3 jobs, or are still working at Starbucks part time. Again, you're young, you'll figure it out.
