Okay famalam, here's the deal. I'm looking to move out of the USA. I'm 21, have roughly $15,000 saved, and that's it.

Some university experience, but not much, can't find my drive here and I'm looking to find somewhere else to settle down. Ideally either New Zealand, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Thailand or Sweden ((yes))

The only problem is, I feel that immigrating to any of these countries is nearly impossible without some sort of skilled trade or degree. The only exception being that I have ancestral history from the CR and could immigrate on that basis.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as how to look towards getting a work permit (permanent) for any of the above countries? Particularly interested in Ireland/NZ/Sweden

For Thailand, enroll in TEFL school wiht good placement, then get a job as an English Teacher.

Could this course of action be taken with the other countries as well? I know it's practical within the CR as well, but I'll specifically look into it more in regards to Thailand. Thanks.
>>
You live in the country where most of the world want to immigrate to. If you cannot make it there, you cannot make it anywhere.
Sorry but it's true.

Hey /b/, I currently live in France, but it never felt like home, and so I want to move to another country. I'm planning on buying a house with a bit of land, and want to become autonomous, food (and maybe energy)-wise. My heart always told me that Japan would feel like home, but from a survivalists point of view, it doesn't seem like the safest place to live (earthquakes , tsunami and the like). So where would be the safest, most pleasant place to live in Japan? Akita prefecture seems beautiful.

Clairement si tu prévois de vivre en autonomie je prendrais pas l'endroit le plus jolie mais le plus fertile et agricole, ça sera plus facile pour trouver de l'aide et des bons conseils de la part des locaux !

OP here. Sorry for the /b/ thing, I tried posting it on there then realised /trv/ would be the better place for it.

Hi guys, i will be flying from Munich to Australia next week and i want to take my fishing rod with me. The rod will be inside a tube and attached to my backpack. Problem is that the tube is slightly bigger than my backpack. (Tube=1meter)
My question is, will i have any problems at the airport because of the extra length? Is it allowed or do i have to pay more?

Hey guys.
So lately i've been thinking about backpacking in australia for a year or two.
Has anyone on here done that or do you know anyone who did so?
What was it like? Would you recommend it?

Is Vegas a meme, overpriced rooms, overpriced alcohol, and pinky activities that take money?
16 posts and 1 images submitted.

>Is Vegas a meme,
Yes, absolutely, and not at all.
>overpriced rooms,
Rooms in Vegas are among the cheapest in the United States; they're absolutely the cheapest for a major destination city. Both the cheap rooms (the town has literally thousands at well under $100) and the higher-end ones pack more bang for your buck than they would elsewhere. (Yes, you can pay $14,000 for a crazy suite, but you'll be getting $30,000 worth of suite for that price.)
>overpriced alcohol,
There is both cheap and expensive alcohol all over Vegas. No law against open containers, so you'll often see people walking around between the casinos drinking on the street. At most casinos you'll receive 'free' drinks if you sit and gamble for a little while.
>and pinky activities that take money?
I don't know what pinky activities are. It's true that the number of things to do for free in Las Vegas is limited, but it can be good for surrealist people-watching.

I am not crazy about Vegas. I personally always wind up drinking too much and spending too much money while I'm there, so my experiences correspond, I think, to your meme ideas. And the no-natural-light airlessness of a casino gets claustrophobic for me after about 24 hours.

If both gambling and drinking are repugnant to you in general, you may not like Vegas much.

But despite my mixed feelings, there's a lot there that I do appreciate. It's a great restaurant town. Lots of live entertainment (music and comedy most obviously, but other stuff too). The Pinball Hall of Fame. Some interesting stuff oriented more towards locals (weird thrift and record stores, dive bars with local bands, etc.).

If you want to get outside, the Hoover Dam is interesting to look at and less than an hour away; the Grand Canyon isn't much more than two hours away and it's pretty spectacular.

Vegas is cool, but only for a couple of days. It gets old quick.

Last time i went to Vegas, i got our room for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at IP (The Linq now, i believe) for under $200 through the Harrahs/Caesar's rewards program.

There are plenty (or was) places where you can get a beer for $1. Most cocktail waitresses never cared about the comped drinks for players rule as long as you tipped. We made friends with a waitress at IP playing craps, every time she'd bring us a beer, she would also put a shot down for my buddy and i on that ledge below the craps table. We got shitfaced for probably $50 worth of tips.

If you want to get loaded for cheap, sit at a 2/4 limit hold em table and fold everything but premium hands. That counts as gambling and you can get all your drinks for a $1 tip.

People watching is fun too. I like(d) sitting at Diablo's cantina, drinking margaritas and people watching.

I'm kind of an alcoholic, and drinking makes it worse for me, so i used to do Vegas pretty hard.

Like i said, it's fun for a few days, but it gets old quick.

Considering going on a working holiday from Australia to Canada.
I'm almost 19 and I think it would be a great way for me to get some work experience whilst also making some new friends.

If you've been before, did you go through a company? Is it worth it? Which one?

What are the best cities to stay in/near?

Well, is there something about Canada that particulary attracts you? I know the grass is always greener but Canada isn't this dream destination. Montreal/Quebec city is fun in the winter, British Columbia has some amazing outdoors, but the rest is mostly forrests or shit cities such as Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, toronto, etc...
I assume you don't have much experience or diplomas either since you're only 18 y-o... so I doubt any company would ''want'' you, so to speak.

That's true, but I don't think I'd have much trouble getting work. Getting anything above minimum wage, that'd be the hard part.

how feasible is it to do regular international travel with a doggo?
15 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
It greatly depends on the destination and where you're gonna be sleeping.
>>
>>1213469
Depends where and which airline. It's not so bad with small dogs but I wouldn't want to go with a German Shepard.

Pic related are my doggos; they have flown intercontinental with no problems. Baggage handlers love my dogs and make jokes about them, again these are heavily medicated 2kg chihuahuas so YMMV.
>>
I'm curious about this too.

Interested in getting a belgian malinois or similar dog in a few years. I was wondering what the regulations were on traveling to/from between different countries with the dog.

I have heard horror stories about lengthy quarantines, and do not want this to have to happen at all.

I will be going to chile in april and be there for around 2 weeks. What do you recommend doing? Any routes? Should I stay in Chile or go to Peru/Bolivia?

Actually this is of pretty use to me, I started planning for a trip to either Chile or Bolivia less than a week ago.

Any advice for me being I'm still in the infant stages if planing, I want to go during August.

In otherwords: Bump
>>
>>1212264
If you're staying just for 2 weeks, then I reccomend you just stay in Chile. From Santiago you could go to Valparaíso, enjoy the view, have some drinks and party a lot. Then I suggest you go either south or north. To the North there is San Pedro de Atacama, a very beautyful city that just everyone goes to. To the South there are plenty of places but the most beautyful is Torres del Paine, search it on google it is a group of mountains surrounded by a very nice landscape.

Have in mind that, if you wanted to visit all these places, you would have to traverse the whole country, so I suggest you make a little research and make some decisions.

Been to India seven times and lived in Delhi for about a year and a half.

Where are you flying into and what sorts of places are you interested in visiting?

You can see a lot traveling along the western coast. Karnataka and Kerala both have tons of natural beauty, whereas Goa is renowned for its crowded beach parties, cheap seafood, and local liquors. If you're arriving in January then I would recommend starting south and making your way north. By the time March comes calling, the temperatures will begin rising across the subcontinent. I would recommend seeing what you want to see in the South before then.

I would suggest being north of Delhi by April, unless you plan on acclimatizing and getting used to the heat. The Himalayas will have perfect weather in May, June, and July. If you know how to rent a motorbike and have a decent enough budget, you can purchase or rent one and drive north from Delhi to Manali to Leh in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. While I've never done that journey, I've been shown pictures by folks who have - it's on my to-do list. You'll pass some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world and have a handful of adventure stories to boot.

India has two distinct seasons for tourism: people go south in winter and north in summers. Follow that pattern. Visiting places like Srinagar, Manali, and Rishikesh will be impractical in the colder months, due to the abundance of snow and closed roads. Similarly, the South will get too hot and humid as time chugs along into summer.

FYI, the monsoon will be hovering over the country by the beginning of July. You won't have to worry too much about heavy and regular rains until then, but be prepared to get wet.

Pic related from Manali. Met some random German guy who had no idea how to ride a motorcycle (he only fell once!) and took a trip up towards the Rohtang Pass. From September 2016.

I'm a third India goer.

I'm interning in Delhi in July this year. I'm hoping to get into the country via Bombay mid June, then go to Kerala by train, then train to Chennai, then Hyderabad, Kolkata then Delhi.

I have a few questions:
1. Where is good in Kerala?
2. Is train a viable form of cross country travel or should I just plane places?
3. In Delhi, is airbnb a decent 1 month+ stay option? I want to real traveler and live in with the locals.
4. I've heard there's an app I'm supposed to get for uberlike services?
5. Water: is it ok to use on my toothbrush?

Arrived Laos few minutes ago. What should I expect?

Malaria and lady boys.

On a serious note: go tubing in vang vieng, take a slowboat from houay xai to luang prabang and see if you got the budget for a zip lining tour of 3 days through the jungle. Then head to the delta in the south and stay on a river island for a few days and spot river dolphins.

Have fun

It's super easy to get drugs there. The mountains and the nature in general are simply breathtaking too. Very chill country overall, but more expensive its than neighbours.
>>

I just left.

Vientiane isn't that exciting, though you could spend 2-3 days there.

Vang Vieng is way better than the internet makes it out to be, drugs kinda easy but its a gamble because the police will go out of your way to 'fine' you.

Didn't see any visible prostitutes in Vang Vieng, maybe one, but i doubt they are that hard to find.

Go to Sakura and Viva for loose Norwegian chicks and free drinks. Live by the motto, i did and i wish i could have stayed longer.

I'm going next week! Again. I was just there last summer.

SK is one of those places with all 4 seasons. I've usually only been during the summer, and summers in Korea are hot and humid, but not unbearable like Florida. I heard its quite chilly right now. In the winter, it gets extremely cold and it snows. Rainy spring... Leaves changing in the autumn. You get a bit of everything.

There's SO much to do and visit... what.do.you.like. What are your hobbies?

I like art and animals. Last summer, I went to
>bunch of animal themed cafes where you order/pay a fee to drink coffee and hang out with cute animals
>i've been to sheep, dog, cat, raccoon cafes
>Hyundai Card Music Library, where they lend you vinyls and you just chill and listen to music (super cool, loved it)
>leeum samsung museum of art, modern art museum. I saw a Korean woman straight up punch a painting there. bizarre place with bizarre pieces
>I chose a busy neighborhood and explored
>for example: hongdae (aka hongik university) its a subway stop and once you get off its filled to the brim with young, trendy people, all sorts of drinking wells/bars, restaurants, street performances. Just walk down the area and get lost (you can't truly get lost because the subway system is so nice)

Get ready to sink a ton of piss. Drinking culture there is second only to Australia, and it's cold as fuck, so get warm clothes.

reminds me of Tokyo with a small town feel

Planning a journey of a lifetime for this year.

I plan on going from British Columbia to Patagonia. I plan on either biking or possibly motor biking. Not sure yet. I know it's extreme but I've already motor biked from British Columbia to Quebec and back. I've gone up to Alaska and done some serious hiking. I've also biked from Paris to Split Croatia. I'm a bit of a survival nut. I've survived Canadian winters outside in our territories camping. I've don't mountain climbing. Did the macchu picchu hike. Anyway.

I know I can do this trip. I just don't know how to go about the Darién Gap! I don't just want to ferry it or fly over it..it's just not me. I've researched it extensively. Also it's been done numerous times. I'm fluent in Spanish so that will help. I've heard of indigenous groups in the region that will show you the way to Colombia etc.

My goal is to leave my home on April 1st right after I quit my job.

And advice?

Sorry gap's closed.
>>
The problem with the Darien Gap has less to do with the extreme elements and more to do with the people you might possibly encounter within. Drug traffickers and paramilitary groups make extensive use of the Gap. Several travelers have either been kidnapped or murdered while transiting between the two countries in recent times. I believe the skeleton of a Swedish fellow was just found a year or so back.

Good luck. It's "not me" to go around either, but I'd probably opt for a ferry just to save time. I have no desire to spend sixty or seventy days bogging through the jungle.
>>
>>1212610
Pretty much sums up my research. Thanks man. I've found it pretty hard to find which parts of the gap night be less dangerous. Do you have any info on this? Perhaps part closest to the coast might be etc.
