Hey /b/, I currently live in France, but it never felt like home, and so I want to move to another country. I'm planning on buying a house with a bit of land, and want to become autonomous, food (and maybe energy)-wise. My heart always told me that Japan would feel like home, but from a survivalists point of view, it doesn't seem like the safest place to live (earthquakes , tsunami and the like). So where would be the safest, most pleasant place to live in Japan? Akita prefecture seems beautiful.
OP here. Sorry for the /b/ thing, I tried posting it on there then realised /trv/ would be the better place for it.

Check out Nova Scotia, Canada. Cheap land, lots of unforested area, nice landscape.

You could try the pacific northwest of the US, it's very beautiful, and there's lots of fertile land that you could potentially start a farm on.

Do you mean self-sufficient or actually anonymous because they are different things.
