Helped inventory my grandfather's collection. Some good bonding time with uncle and dad. I had no idea he had so many. Brought stuff back from the war and some passed down the family tree. Hoping to buy or inherit some, but most will probably be sold. I have pics if anyone is interested.

Good shit anon, that's a neat collection.
>>33697982
Thanks! Yeah, it was definitely an education. There's not a lot of high-end stuff, but I think that's cool. It's like my grandkids seeing my S&W9 and Mossberg500 and getting all nostaligic cause they're used to shooting laser guns.
I'd get the Ithaca, Mauser patrone, savage pump, rem pump, Luger, all the colts, and the rem army and model 1

Hi /k/
I have plenty of experience with guns, but I don't actually personally own any. I've been having a bad time and I need to see a therapist/psychologist for personal issues regarding bad memories and depression (no anger problems or psychosis etc) but I'm nervous to go in case it blocks me from my right to own funs.
Has anyone here ever had to see a therapist but still not have their guns taken away? If I do see said therapist, how do I avoid being recorded as a potential loose cannon?
>>33697651
you most likely will never see a gun in your lifetime.
>>33697667
not true,
HIPAA is pretty legit
You should be fine as long as you're seeing them voluntarily, and they don't end up actually diagnosing you with anything or medicating you. I've been going to one since last year and I still pass my 4473s
I went to the Air Force Museum at Wright Patt yesterday for the 75th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. It was pretty awesome.
In honor of that, let's have a WWII plane thread.
I'll post some of the pics I took.
Dat gun
So I recently purchased a glock 17 gen 3 and I'm not a newbie to pistols but I have had some difficulty connecting my shots with the glock (roughly 60% hits at 20 yards on a 6x6 steel plate). Any tips that are glock specific? I have the fundamentals of pistol shooting down but this one causes me issues.
>>33697322
https://youtu.be/G8JX2hZR_6g
you already did it wrong by expecting to hit with a glock.
>>33697537
This. Anyone who's not a glock fanboy thinks the trigger is ass. It takes some getting used to is all. That and the trigger pull smooths out slightly after 500 rounds.
Things your first gun would say to you today.

"Why did you sell me you traitor?"
>>33697131
Why the fuck did you drill the swivel stud hole in front of the barrel band?
So, how many of you faggots are /k/ontractors?

Top kek. Link pls.
That's a high scope.
link fag i want to call
Tell me about the last time you went shooting. What did you bring? What did you do? How was the atmosphere at your range? Was it fun?
Now that sunset is getting later I can go after work. I was the only person at my club last evening. Shot some satisfying groups at 10 yards with my P07.
Best 5
Went to ouydoor range and magdumped (at) other peoples old targets. Prob didnt hit shit. Cleared the range and went home.

Do you think it's ok for a 16 year old to buy knives and have interest in them? he wants to buy a knife like "Cold Steel Recon 1"
Of course, knives are a valuable tool and also look cool so it's perfectly normal to want one. Most kids get their first knife when they're 9 or 10, and if you trust your kid with access to your kitchen, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to buy a knife.
>>33696974
t. 16 year old trying to come up with arguments for why he should be allowed to buy a knife
nah, buy him an AR platform and send him to school
Tell me about the FN Five-Seven, /k/. All memes aside, in favor or against, is this a viable weapon?
>"Glorified .22Mag"
>Double digit body count in Fort Hood shooting
Also meme gun/caliber general I suppose.
Trigger takes some getting used to.
Pretty accurate, also at longer distance.
High capacity.
But most people won't trust it to put a junkie down.
>>33696970
Marisa.. is that you?
>>33697020
I've heard that .45 ACP is a useless round. Is this true? I've been looking at the CZ 97B vs the CZ75 SP-01 and a friend of mine is telling me to KMS for considering a pistol that chambers .45 ACP.
I feel like I'm posting in a meme thread where I don't know the meme, but just in case it isn't: Not a bad cartridge, just that a lot of people are finding that 9mm offers more advantages. .45 used to be believed to have better lethality but most testing supports 9mm being just as good, at higher magazine capacities.
>>33696817
>>33696817
It still kills things dead. You just have alternatives with more capacity.
So when are the Russians going to field this thing? They've been working on it since the early 90s.
Shit even China already designed, tested and prepared 2 fifth-gen products in less than half the same time period
>>33696639
The Russian one is legit. The Chinese ones are just 4th gen with 5th gen visual. Just like when you buy a Nike or Iphone replica from China, they just look like Nike shoes or Apple Iphones, but functionally they're very basic and cheap.
>>33696639
They have been announcing that it will be operational "next year" for half a decade now.
>>33696639
According to Russia? In the next couple of years.
Realistically? I'll be surprised if they ever field more than a squadron of them. Russia's in really bad shape in terms of long-term strategy, and it's increasingly looking like they won't be able to keep up with the next generation of hardware.
As for China, they're coming from the opposite end of the spectrum that Russia is. The Chinese have the resources to produce competitive modern fighters, but they've lacked the industrial base and expertise until very recently. They've been working on maturing their industry since the '70s, and they're slowly catching up.
For reference, China had to cancel development of what amounted to a frankenstein of parts from a MiG-23 and F-111 because domestic industry couldn't make electronics as small as they needed. They're past that roadblock, and the next big one for them seems to be engine development and metallurgy.
CCing this.
Say for instance I live in a cold environment or just during winter and I don't live in a gay liberal area where everyone will call the cops over the slightest print.
How realistic is this. If you ever had to use it would the courts fuck you? What if it was used to stop an obvious mass shooting attempt? Could one wear even remotely normal clothes while doing so?
>>33696561
It's literally the worst firearm to ever try to carry concealed. Kill yourself
>>33696561
well first of all i have to congratulate you on using a fucking 1+2 pump shotgun instead of just getting a sawed-off double barrel.
second of all just get a pistol chambered in fuddy five or a deagle if you're so worried about effectively killing rood doods in fantasy situations. you can carry more ammo and be less retarded that way.
>>33696608
First off. Rude
Second. When were talking about 12ga theres a clear benefit to having three shells instead of two.
>The U.S. military has been talking about it for years, but now the stars may be aligning to force a closer look at replacing the standard military rifle issued to most American troops.
>The Army is reportedly exploring how it might outfit all its front-line troops with a rifle chambered in a larger round than the 5.56mm M4 and M16 for the current fight in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, insiders claim. Service officials are increasingly worried that that soldiers are being targeted by insurgent fighters wielding rifles and machine guns that can kill U.S. troops at a distance, while staying out of the effective range of America’s current small arms.
>“A Capability Gap exists for 80 percent of US and NATO riflemen who are armed with 5.56mm weapons,” weapons expert and former Heckler & Koch official Jim Schatz stated in a recent small arms briefing. “The threat engages friendly forces with 7.62mmR weapons 300 meters beyond the effective range of 5.56mm NATO ammo.”
>“These 5.56mm riflemen have no effective means to engage the enemy.”
So does this mean the SCAR has a chance at being procured in large numbers now?
https://www.wearethemighty.com/articles/the-days-of-the-us-militarys-obsession-with-the-5-56-rifle-may-be-numbered
>>33696522
>So the service is considering options to outfit soldiers with a true “battle rifle” chambered in 7.62×51, a more powerful round with a greater range than the 5.56, analysts say. It’s unclear which system the Army will pick if it decides to go this route, with rifles like the Mk-17 SCAR-H, M-110 and now the M110A1 CSASS either getting set for fielding or already in the inventory.
>But military planners aren’t stopping there.
Multiple sources confirm that the service is also looking at fielding a so-called “intermediate caliber” round that can be used in both machine guns and infantry rifles that deliver better range and lethality than the 5.56 but in a smaller, lighter package than the NATO M80 7.62×51 ammo.
>Dubbed the .264 USA, the Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Georgia, has been shooting a prototype intermediate caliber round for years. Similar to the 6.5 Grendel but with a case sized for use in a standard M4 magazine, the .264 USA has an 800 meter effective range and better terminal ballistics further out than a 5.56.
This could be interesting. Won't they just go right back to 223 after they decide it isn't worth the weight???
>So does this mean the SCAR has a chance at being procured in large numbers now?
NO
>>33696522
>take potshots from mg position
>try to take him out from posititons that might as well be on Jupiter for all they're doing
>not shooting and scooting closer to the target
>not calling in CAS
Shoo shoo tax money gremlins. You just want them to spend more money on shit they don't need.
I'm no military expert but these Dutch guys look like absolute shit.
>stationary shooting at a tank/APC with 240s for a minute or two
>crouching in a field with no cover waiting to get shot up

>I'm no military expert
You should have stopped right there.
>>33696441
yeah well get wrekt kid it's /k/time
That's a M113 by the looks of it, any decent round goes trough it like a knife trough butter.
> I'm no military expert but these Dutch guys look like absolute shit.
Clearly not, these marines and members of air assault frequently beat out international competition.
So I shot my first round that isn't .22 but 5.56 to be exact and the things that I noticed was causing me trouble were breath
>breath control
>stance
>trigger pull
>flinching
What are some ways to get better and tighter groupings so basically a thread for marksmanship help and anything related is welcomed
>>33696358
Put a gip on your front sight. It works.
What exactly IS the correct breathing method when shooting anyway?
