I have a Magpul X-22 Hunter stock. I like it a lot and just put a Green Mountain bull barrel on the other day. I also have a BX trigger which is also pretty good. As far as ammo I would just get a few boxes of different brands and see what works best. Mine shoots real good with CCI but hates Remington Thunderbolts.

The guns are so easy to work too.

Getting any kind of replica .22 is autistic as fuck. Get a dirt cheap semi auto .22 or an sks. Your other two gun options aren't bad, but make sure you're aware and comfortable with the cost of ammo

I just think it looks neat + I like the larger mag. I'd love to get the lever-action but it seems a bit steep for my first firearm. Ammo would be expensive, which is another reason I'm considering rimfire.

Surplus 8mm was all over the place after WWII. You could go to K Mart and pick up a butchered Mauser and a case of 100 rounds for $20. After the UN Un-Nazified everything and NATO decide 7.62RFN was the law of the land mass ammo production for niche calibers stopped. And thus supply began drying up.

I've carried a Walther PP above my pp for about two years now. You get over it after the first week.

>stand ~10 yards away
>fire at center
>observe where the shot landed
>adjust scope to match where the shot landed (e.g. if you aimed center and the shot landed high, start adjusting your scope downwards)
>repeat until shot is hitting where crosshair is aiming
>move to 25 yards, repeat process
>move to 50 yards, repeat process
>etc etc

Put the gun on something to stabilize it. Put a dot on the wall with tape. Look through bore and align with dot. Keep gun still and adjust scope to be in the center of the dot.

Once at the range prop up the front of the gun with a sandbag or something and the rear as well (important). Fire a shot into the bullseye of your target. See where it lands on the paper

Keeping the gun still and aimed on the bullseye look through the scope and adjust it until the scope is aiming directly on where your last shot just hit.

After youve done that fire a three round group on the bullseye to confirm you're zeroed.

theyre more maneuverable and lighter. they are sometimes closer in appearance and function to their foreign or military counterparts, like krinks or SMGs for example. lastly, being cool is a big factor i think.
as far as cost, like anything else its worth it to some, not to others. such is life.
