I have some experience with drawing. I've studied perspective, anatomy and gesture but I don't know where to start with animation. Do I do walk cycles? Where can I find a list of basic exercises to practice? I'm so lost...
Begin.
>>3070480
Try the animation thread that's on here, it has a lot of resources and exercises to do.
>>3070480
>I want to be an animator
thats a really shit decision, you will live the rest of your life slaving away repetitively lining out someone else's creative vision for not even good pay.
Why are asians so good at art?

Read Les Miserables
There is a possibility that mystics are right and mechanics of sin/karma pervade reality on the deepest level. Its just that you cant see them at work because you look at reality from the perspective of an ant, not an anthill.
>>3063535
read Nietzsche and Schopenhauer
I've been having neck pains from bending over and drawing on my desk.
I can't really fit a drafting table in my room, is a table top easel the best solution for sketching? Or is there anything else I should look into?
I've mostly just been working on a4 paper as well if that makes a difference?
I got this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adjustable-Folding-Laptop-Netbook-Computer-Office-Table-Desk-Stand-Tray-Bed-Sofa/361451738408?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=630815297530&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
it is a godsend, use it with my Artisul 13D (cintiq alternative) and inking
angles adjustable and it is strong and sturdy.

Hey m8s! Few weeks ago I made a post about my first animation short (/ic/ers made over 200 views, thanks for that!), so now here is my new animation loop. Im interested in any construstive feedback!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E49zYHlwokk
Animation-wise: The timing and spacing are kind of boring
Design-wise: The outlines are a bit too thin, you can't really see them clearly. That yellow is too much for me, makes me not want to look at the animation at all. And why this aspect ratio?
i'm planning to install linux mint on my win10 laptop and i've been using sai(2) my whole life
is there a way to have sai on linux? if not, what are some other good alternatives?
krita is kind of uncomfortable to use
>>3073171
GIMP is pretty comfy.
Mypaint has a more powerful and easy to configure brush engine, but I don't care for the UI.
The answer you're probably looking for is to just dual boot Win10 for Windows programs.
>>3073171
>i'm planning to install linux
Why? Are you a masochist?
>do still life studies and photo copies my entire life
>cant draw anything from imagination at all
Where do I start? I really want to do cool stuff from my head
>Do a study of something you want to learn.
>Draw it from imagination applying what you learned from the study.
>Fail
>repeat for a few years.
>>3072804
you have the wrong idea of what an imaginative drawing should look like. I have a very simple imagination, but I make paintings that work around that simplicity. If your imagination is symbol drawing, then symbol draw, but do it well.
>>3072806
I want to draw people, its not that easy.

How to render + how to draw by scot robertson.
loomis and / or scott robertson
that image you posted is pretty shitty btw
IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
OLD THREAD: >>3069822
so, what I've been gathering from every tutorial out there, "rendering'' means "mess with it until it looks good"
>>3071410
I guess?
I think it's more like adjusting and perfecting something (like a shiny, leathery appearance/effect on a tight skinsuit or something) until you achieve the desired effect
>>3071410
I recommend RC cars as a hobby for you.
>>3071410
Color, shading, texture, etc = rendering
So I decided to get back into art after half a decade or so and drew for 100 days. I stopped for a couple of months or so and now am getting into using a tablet. Holy hell it feels so alien, I can't tell how big or small to make the image or even the line thickness, it always feels too thick. I'm sure the broken bamboo drivers aren't helping though with the cursor lag and no sensitivity. Is this normal? I feel like I'm worse than before practicing for 100 days, anyone have advice? Can't find anything about getting used to tablets in the sticky.
pic unrelated, it's a quantum tunneling water absorbing rabbit stolen by a half demon and blessed by a retarded cleric used as the logo for a greedy gnome's potion shop I drew before the 100 day faffing about. it's garbage yet somehow better than my digital shit.
>>3073112
Draw more. If digital art is uncomfortable to you, just draw more digitally and eventually you'll get used to it. Or spend 2000 on a Cintiq like I did, your choice
>>3073126
oh god, why is it so expensive? The hardware is worth a few hundred at most and is constantly depreciating.
>>3073138
monopoly
How /ic/ earn it's money with freelance?
Are there any good sites to make money from illustrations, logos, porn or etc?
>How /ic/ earn it's money with freelance?
we don't
>>3073110
>Are there any good sites to make money
All of them, if you're good.
Think of it like a tournament. The only people you have to worry about are people equal/better than you. Mcgregor or some other professional athlete doesn't have to worry about being outclassed by someone who's less capable than them, so they always stay near the upper level. What they do in their daily activity is enough to BTFO 99% of their competitors.
Most people who call themselves artists usually spend their time just not making anything because they're only competitions are normies, who're at the base of society in terms of everything that requires practice/effort.
In these circles, making an attempt is no different than being the real deal.
If you're a nobody like me, the best thing to do if you want quality work is to have multiple portfolios.
a general rule is 5-10 pieces of relevant work per project. There's a huge difference between knowing how to do something vs. also having it in your portfolio. If someone wants sketches of orcs and you don't have sketches of orcs to show as samples, you're sort of fucked a lot of the time. Think of it like a google search. most of the time is spent scrolling past stuff to get to exactly what you're looking for. A lot of clients are just normie consumers with money. You sort of get used to what they mean by the words they choose.
Fantasy = Game of Thrones, World of Warcraft, or Dark Souls.
Sci Fi = Halo, Destiny, or Mass Effect
Mobile = Clash of Clans, Farmville, etc.
MOBA = Riot Games
New IP = Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted,
FPS = Call of Duty, Battlefield, or Sci Fi (above)
Animated = Pixar/Calarts
etc.

You should try posting to beginner thread and not creating your own thread for trash like this, autismo.
Depends on what kind of art.
