so, what I've been gathering from every tutorial out there, "rendering'' means "mess with it until it looks good"
>>3071410
I guess?
I think it's more like adjusting and perfecting something (like a shiny, leathery appearance/effect on a tight skinsuit or something) until you achieve the desired effect

I recommend RC cars as a hobby for you.

Color, shading, texture, etc = rendering
>>3071525
why RC cars?
>>3071610

>>3071800

Very good, grasshopper.
I also do /3/ so i think i can give some insight. One you have the line are out there or color comp, you have to fill it in with lightning. That means you you have to paint in the light source, bounce lights (which you should also consider as light source), shadows, shadow rims, reflections, refraction's, materiel The list goes on
Pic related, it's for a project.

rendering isn't even a proper art term, rendering is a computing term.
so perhaps think about why they never needed a term like rendering during the previous 500 years of art history and you might realize something about how to art.
>>3073044
whats the proper term then
>>3073044
>Rendering in visual art and technical drawing means the process of formulating, adding color, shading, and texturing of an image. It can also be used to describe the quality of execution of that process. When used as a means of expression, it is synonymous with illustrating.
