Stop using online filters to do the work for you
great thread op
This board is dead.
>want to be an artist (illustrator) my whole life
>learn that you have to be dedicated as much as a surgeon but at the same time earn less than 20k a year per average
P-passion will fill my stomach, am I right my fellow artists?
Where did you get this 20k a year per average meme number? Illustrators make just as much as any other normal wage cuck. 60k and up.

>Illustrators make just as much as any other normal wage cuck. 60k and up.
>The IO surveys show, that most artists with an income level of 1000 Euros a month or less are beginners. They make up at least a third of all survey participants. The survey also shows, that from the age of about 35, the number of artists in the industry drops and dramatically at that. Many don't make it past the first years, because they didn't earn enough, which is due to a lack of luck, lack of customers, lack of contacts, lack of business and marketing skills, lack of artistic skills or because they may live in a place where business is slow or because their chosen branch just doesn't offer enough jobs and they may not be capable of artistic diversity or stylistic versatility to compensate that.
>In turn, companies know of the hungry artist. Some keep their money offers low because they know they can get away with it and because many artists will be glad to get any work at all. Poor financial backing and a lot of cheap competitors weaken their ability to negotiate good conditions. In many cases this will only add to a low income.

FUCK YOU. Fuck You. fuck you.
THANK YOU. Thank you. thank you.
HELLO. Hello. hello.
ECHO??? Echo?? echo?
So basically I'm new to art, I've never drawn people seriously before and I've come across this kind of style that is in a spot between realistic and cartoonish, it really interests me and I'm wondering if there's some kind of process that I have to go through to learn how to draw like this? I kinda tried today, but I think the clean lineart made it look too cartoony, and I'm still figuring out the eyebrows and the hair since I don't think you can get the same look on digital. Here's some examples of the style I wanna recreate.
>inb4 style theft
I made a comic page traditionally, now that I scanned it, im unsure how to get it to be clean black and withe (or something that works)
I already know how to go about toning, it's just this dam step... I tried umbral and it messed up the lines and how it looked in general, small lines dissapear.
What do I do?
>>3069218
Go back and properly erase the pencil lines, rescan, and adjust brightness/contrast.
>>3069222
Mmm, alright, after that, some blacks are way less blacks that others (In a noticeable way), with contrast at max.
How do I fix this?
>>3069225
use the magic wand to individually select the less-black blacks, then increase brightness/contrast as needed
Is he the black Kim Jung Gi? Steven Wiltshire, artist with autism who can draw a panorama of an entire city from memory
>>3065100
heard of him yeah. Pretty neat desu.
Kim Jung Gi doesn't have autism.
It's a cool skill but the end product isn't really that appealing, especially compared to the stuff kjg does.
Okay faggots, we are more than halfway through the year but there is still time to fulfill those new years resolutions. Writing down your goals and having a concrete plan is key to achieving your goals. Alright, I'll start this off:
Title: Hobbyist
Daily Practice Duration: 1-6 hours
Art goals:
1.) Complete Bridgeman front to back
2.) Complete Hampton Front to back
3.) Complete Marshall Vandruff Lectures and draw 50 backgrounds
4.)Complete Peter Han dynamic bible front to back
5.) Improve writing skills and finalize three scripts. Choose 1 script to work on for 2017 and refine all the character designs, Backgrounds and props
6.) Complete art of animal anatomy(If the script contains creatures)
7.) Study animation
Title: Hobbyist, hopefully soon to be student
Daily practise: Anywhere between 1 hour and 4, depends on the day, my mother broke both her legs so I have to help around the house a lot which cuts down my practising time
Goals:
1: Be able to translate skills I learned digitally to traditional without the wobbly lines and inaccurate perspectives
2: Work my way through animator's survival kit, or at least a portion of it.
3: Come up with a personal project for a tiny portfolio
4: Pass the entrance exam for an animation class
I still have one and a half month to do this, time may not be my ally but I'm keeping my spirits up and I try to make the best of it
Title: professional artists
Duration: 6 - 12 hours a day
Art goals
1) drawing what I love
2) draw everything
3) drawing what I love
4) draw everything
5) vilppu
6) drawing what I love
Title: NGMI
Daily Practice: 2 - 4 hours per day
Goals:
1) Increase daily practice to 6+ hours per day
2) Improve anatomy and figure drawing from imagination
3) Learn to use value and color at least to some degree
4) Make some fucking finished pieces already you cunt
5) Make art blog
thread of my work.
Post and draw basically anything in your own way
Heres an quick archive for classic memes, its obviously not complete since theres a shitload of those, if you can find some other on the archive feel free to post it ( also if anyone actually has the threads of those drawings share with us because most of them have good content in it )

>when your suggestion to start a general gets taken seriously
fuck it, keep it all here

There's no stopping these threads. Maybe this really is the best option, so I can autohide these threads
Does anyone else here draw inside their head sometimes?
you mean procrastinating?
>>3070873
Zing!
Yeah and I suck at anatomy even in my mind
I want to make some concept art. However I'm too lazy to learn anatomy or how to draw objects using grids etc.
Can you use models as a shortcut? Draw outfits directly on naked bodies, draw spacecraft using angles of aircraft wings as reference etc.
>>3070831
Even if you want to draw over models you still need to know how drapery works, perspective, fundamentals of light and shadow and color. So yeah there are no shortucts
>>3070831
A lot of concept artists use 3D as a shortcut, it does not mean you can just skip out on fundies though. Even they learned it properly first before they started using 3D
What's up with these painting meme on 4chan? I've see a lot of artists who primarily draw and get heckled because they don't "finish" aka paint their works. It's like you guys assume painterly works should be the end goal of all artists...
And there is this whole "Artist A is stagnating because he doesn't paint enough" How can you stagnate by drawing too much? There is always so much you can learn by drawing
>>3069880
All I catch when I post here is that I don't draw enough. Do what you want and set your own goals. If you're trying to get into graphic design or animu or whatever focusing on technical drawing is probably better. If you're trying to sell art, nobody gives a shit about your doodles.
Does /ic/ take supplements for increased focus? If so what brands to you recommend?
adderall, L-theanine, coffee, weed, LSD (microdoses). Sometimes the flow state ain't enough to keep one awake and running smooth.
Nowdays nothing, but when I was in my teens I was really into surrealism and I tried all kinds of shit to alter my consciousness. Occasionally I would just smoke weed or take a shit load of caffeine, but generally I tried to stay away from drugs instead I would do stuff like try to stay awake as much as possible, set my alarm to 3 am and start drawing immediately, I tried Dali's slumber with a key and I would just do all kinds of stuff like that.
i take zhou neuro-peak. works for me op
Last thread: >>3057987
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies, however, all forms of stylization is welcome here. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, you should have fun!
Fresh off the Mayflower? Then do yourself a flavor and read /ic/s supplementary sticky HERE:
