What sort of art just makes you stare at it for long hours /ic/?
Cookie Monster leading this band of pirates is just so engrossing to me, and I can't explain why.
>>3074002
It's called "narrative" - it's telling a story visually, and sometimes the right combination is extremely compelling to some people.
There's no way to cheese or cheat or work specifically to guarantee it - it happens randomly, and some people just have the right perspective and talent to produce them more frequently.
There's no formula to it - if there is, find it, you'll be a billionaire exploiting it.

>Cookie monster leading this band of pirates.
Nigger that's a picture of one of /k/'s meetings. Not sure if was when that dude made sperm-brownies.

What are you on about dude, /k/ meetups consist of overweight pale neckbeards and skinny gook manlets, not African pirates.
Hey /ic/, I'm a sculptor and need some help with technology.
I've seen these sites where you can look at sculpture in 360 degrees and I'm wondering if I can do that at home with a cellphone or normal camera for building a virtual portfolio of my work.
Do you have any direction about a software or other method I can use with relative ease for achieving that?
Here's what I'm talking about
http://www.germanexpressionismleicester.org/leicesters-collection/sculptures-360-viewer/despair-wood-by-margarethe-klopfleisch/
I'm aware of 3D scans, but these seem much more complex and altough you can view from any angle (not just horizontal) it is actually a virtual model of the piece. While it's interesting, it loses so much detail in contrast with a simple 360 photographic view. But if there is a method of getting a full 3D photo around the piece (which I imagine it's hard, since I would have to spin the camera around the model in a seemingly impossible precision) I'd be interested too.
Thanks in advance.

This is conceptually very simple. You can do it with a stationary camera and a turntable. Mark the edges of the turntable every N degrees. Put the statue on the turntable. Rotate it to every mark and take a picture at that angle, keeping the lighting setup identical. It's a bit of work but only 20-40 shots per sculpture.
What does /ic/ think?
Bully at your own risk.

I don't know about the effect of blue splattering. It's looks like you didn't know how to finish the piece and did that to cover it up.
The shells look a little bit scratchy, and the red sand is a little questionable IMO.
>>3072037
Not the worst watercolor I've seen. I'd go further with the values, overall it's a bit washed out, and I'd work the details more. A personal landscape like this (that's what you'd call this, or a still life) should be all about the detail.
And, for the future - the spattering technique is legit, but you need to plan it out, and the paint used should not be darker than the actual painting. They make liquid latex just for this kind of thing - you use the liquid latex to cover the areas you don't want the spatter on, applied by brush, and when the spatter is dried, you peel the latex off. You can also use low-tack drafting tape for this.

it looks nice. id buy it if i was into that kind of thing.
what are some good book to learning an anime art style, are there any good ones in english? does anyone have any of the japanese ones as translated pdfs?
pic related????????
>>3070795
learn anatomy then copy anime faces until you can come up with your own ones. Anime is hardly an art style, it's more like real bodies + abstract face.
there is no "anime art style." the only thing thats "anime" are the faces.

no, cell shading and lineart included too.
This is a drawing that my brother made. Its old, Because this was a drawing he made years ago, like around the time he was a 5th grader, and had a thing for Pokémon. He's now 20, but when he left the household when he was 18, he left this. I like to hang it up and use it to help remind me about him. I barely see him anymore, especially since he took off across the country. Just wanted to share this, we what you guys think
it's shit. proportions are way off, lighting is boring, composition is boring, not balanced, etc. etc.
Pretty good for a 10-11 year old, I guess.
Better than half of the stuff in /beg/, too anyway.

Kinda cute desu
How do I make this look more like a crow? Any suggest?
>>3073808
Birds particular features are what makes them recognizable. Best bet would be to look at references of crows and compare them with other birds (like the blackbird) to see what makes them stand-out.
The beak is particular and most recognizable, but pay attention to the rump, mantle, tail... basically what makes it a crow and not just a bird. For example, your crow doesn't have crow eyes. Same for his toes, crows have toes which would put a pigeon to shame.

Thanks mate. I already improve my draw.
I want to start drawing
But before I jump into it
Is it a good or a bad idea to start digitally (because that is what Im interested in) and never do anything the traditional way?
Or doesn't matter, you should always start with paper and pencil?
I already have a draw tablet, not mine but still
Just do it
Fuck
>>3073142
I don't want to learn bad habits right at the beginning that I have to unlearn later on
>>3073143
Just pick up a pencil and paper and look up a guide for basics, try drawing every example the guide shows.
Am at the Zdzisław Beksiński exhibit for the first time in the US. Ask me anything

what's it like being a fag?
is there anything particular to seeing them live?
Okay which one of you did this?

Is getting a job as an artist just about having connections? I see a lot of /beg/ tier professional art.
>>3071363
lol
1. no one in /beg/ can make anything close to that.
2. quit being a cherry picking retard
>>3071369
I am sure Nosebro would be able to surpass that.
>>3071363
You shouldn't assume that concept art is meant to be polished.
that said it was a stupid choice for a promotional image.
I'm struggling with adapting the loomis method of constructing the head to various types of head shapes... yes, I have read the entire book, not just looked at the pretty pictures... I know there's several pages on different head styles, but only final products... he doesn't actually show what he changed in terms of the construction.
In other words I can't get loomis to work on every ref I practice with. I don't really know what to do. Question thread is always dead and nobody in /beg/ seems to know what they're talking about
>>3071192
Bump for op
>>3071192
then don't loomis every single head. there are other ways of constructing a head, some just sight-draw or whatever.
restricting yourself to only loomis is a handicap
Jaw shape and chin length
Does anyone know of any artists with work similar to Cliff Sterrett?

a nigger stealing?
tell me something new
Is it better to
>constantly look at the bigger picture and think about everything when you make a single painting
or
>dedicate a painting to a certain thing like getting better with colors with this particular piece, or composition etc. ?
What is more efficient?

>you will never have an art friend who inspires you and dares you to be better making you both ascend into art godhood. .
as you are learning you should usually be doing the second one.
both my nug
Is it true for drawing, where a single year of decisive learning is enough to overcome the work of a couple of years from your peers?
>>3070562
unfortunately yes
>>3070562
i do believe so, although some people will disagree and i respect that.
>>3070573
checked his devianart, his work is a lot better.
I think you could make all the improvements in the pic within just 6 months of diligent work. 4 hrs a day, 7 days a week.
