what are the laptops with the best displays on the market right now, I'm looking for something sub $2000 with great color accuracy, wide gamut, and decent brightness. i found this laptop which looks like the best screen on a sub $2000 laptop that doubles as a gaming machine, is this my only option? http://www.gigabyte.us/Laptop/AERO-15
i won't be using it for gaming specifically, but id like something with high specs since ill want longevitivity from it, a minimum of 5 years i want to keep this laptop.
also general laptop thread without thinkpad elitists please

Uh, I don't think OP is that poor… Laptops with 4K displays exist.

yeah, no
There's nothing wrong with killing off the headphone jack. The benefits are worth it.
>Smaller bezel
>Better water proofing
>less autism to deal with phone cases & aux cord compatibility
>More room for a bigger battery
>Force audio industry to improve Bluetooth headphones
This is where the mobile industry is healing like it or not, and it's the next step of innovating phones and accessories.
>>62250003
>Better water proofing
Galaxy s7 had IP68 and a headphone jack, how clueless can you be
>>62250017
Yes but it's still not perfect. With one less port the water proofing would improve simply because there's is space for water to get into.
>>62250081
Water getting into the headphone jack isn't an issue because of IP68

where do all the antergos users come from???

Their moms.
What are some good vim color schemes?
I'm tired of monokai and its variants.
I need something clean and readable with a dark background.
What do you use, anons?

Now that GNOME is not even subtle in trying to deny user productivity there remains no difference to it than autistic shit like i3
What DE do you suggest?
Cinnamon?
Budgie?
KDE?
Deepin?
>>62246072
what exactly is wrong with gnome's approach? Modularity seems like a good idea, means if not everyone likes the current implementation (TopIcons), people can reimplement it however they wish without breaking everything else.
>>62246072
They're removing that shitty slide-out bar in the lower left corner. How is this a problem?
>>62246258
>>62246201
If they were going to remove it they should have their alternative to status icons.
Instead they chose to get rid of responsibilities and make (FORCE) users to use unofficial, 3rd party extensions that
- is not necessarily compatible with all GNOME versions
- slows down shell performance by a large degree
>Large German eTailer reports AMD processors out-selling Intel products
>The news comes from and ever since March 2017, when AMD launched Ryzen series, AMD processor sales have seen a from 28% (vs. 72% of Intel) towards now a proper 56% by the end of August 2017 of that sales pie. This of course is targeted at the DiY component market.

rip intel
The next dieshrink will cement AMDs dominance
Germans are RETARDED what else is new, they don't value stable technology like Intel but experimental crap AMD shits out
Thankfully Americans and Japanese are way smarter.
>>62245741
>DIY
There are still OEMs.
Then again, AMD won servers over, so it might not matter.
Why don't you fags like Arch? It's the patrician OS.
>Newest version of everything
>Actually justwerkz
>Only people who hate on it are winfags who don't know how to into linux and ubuntufags who also don't know how to into linux
>Best OS for ricing, not even a competition, second best is gentoo if you're really autistic
>actually stable as fuck, anyone saying otherwise is a liar or a shill
>free systemd
all linux distros suck but arch sucks the least

Only edgy kids use arch

Damn dude, I like your colour scheme.

I liked the design shown here quite a while ago with a moon watch using the profile of Saturn 5 for the hands. Elegant.
Anyone here have new design ideas? Or complications?
Let's make this a more appreciating thread.

You can be a genius but if you're socially awkward nerd who cannot communicate properly with other human beings, you're useless in a team. And programming is rarely individual in enterprise jobs.

How does /g/ watch anime?
I have a samba share network drive on my home server that I connect to with VLC on my fire stick and it works really well, i didn't even have to root or sideload anything.
It's also 100x better than "HTPC" garbage like kodi or plex which invasively start caching cover art and movie posters and ask where your "media" folders are and end up doing sneaky shit over the network when I just want to watch video stored in folders.
>>62243380

Can we talk about this sexy piece of tech?
I simply love everything about it.
Hell, if i could install Gentoo on it i'll probably fuck it
it was cool back when "multimedia device" was a more novel concept
nowadays it's worse than a shitty old android phone
ignoring the games of course
>>62239735
Best emulator machine in existence.
Emulators on it are great, any gba games or snes games run really smooth along with others.
Hell, it could somewhat run n64 games on it
Fine. I give up. Windows 7 on Ryzen is insanely unstable. How do I pirate Windows 10 Enterprise?
>>62237478
It baffles me that you people don't know how to pirate proprietary software. I blame Loonix for this.
You can still upgrade Win7 to Win10 for free

Can someone tell me why I should use this over vlc or parole?
I've switched to barebones debian with i3 and am now manually selecting all my applications for a comfy experience instead of just using whatever the distro came with like before.

I remember some 40 year old chink who owned an auto shop show me his "awesome" new phone in 2008 or 2009, where it was some no name brand smartphone where he could click the entire screen, because tapping was too difficult for him.
I thought it was the gayest shit then. Glad it didn't catch on.
