Neither. The W540 has no physical mouse buttons because Lenovo fell for the cancerous "clickpad" meme. I had to set up some custom Xinput config to make certain keybindings emulate the mouse buttons, just to be able to use the trackpoint properly.

Are you me? My laptop is essentially a portable workstation, at home it's docked and connected to a proper bigger monitor, proper keyboard and mouse.
If I have to choose, I use keyboard shortcuts exclusively. If I really have to, I tap reluctantly.

Just make sure you buy a variant with a LOT of SSD space so you can keep the thing for 7 years without needing to delete anything. A full TB should be worth it.
If you're buying a 2016 or 2017 you might need to buy a hub to go along with it but you'll probably only use it for a few years as more and more companies start making USB C compatible accessories.

It honestly completely fixed the 'touch screens are hard to type on' problem. Too bad the OS was slow as balls to boot and the browser sucked. The email and phone functions were perfect though
