You can be a genius but if you're socially awkward nerd who cannot communicate properly with other human beings, you're useless in a team. And programming is rarely individual in enterprise jobs.

To be fair in IT you must have severe autism to be rejected. Mild autism is acceptable and even normal.

But I can communicate fine anon, it just has to be over text chat. I can still work in a team online through a messenger program. Why won't anyone accept me?

>>62246527
t. not op
>>
>>62246527
This, i cannot understand why Normans prefer verbal communication, through text chat not only the information remains there for future reference, but other factors like accents, stuttering, etc. will be eliminated
Those faggots are the worst who aren't even autistic but mumble under their breath when they have to part information, i'd paint the walls red with their face

I think I can share some observations based on what happened to me and my friend in this setting. I'm the guy that has ok looks and is communicative. I went to Germany to one research institution, not even applied online before, talked with the boss of IT department (actually I talked with his secretary because he was away) and got a 2 months internship just like that. They prepared one for me. On the other hand a text book example of a nerd friend. His looks are bad, communication so-so, but we call this guy The Phantom. So now you see, that when people really call someone like that AFK, something's going on. So the phantom didn't complete his BSc in CS, _however_ he went to a programming competition organized by one of big airline companies around, won it and got a job. Without any degrees. Right now he earns very well and everyone there consider him as programming guru. So no, even when you're a nerd, if you're really good and not just think that you're good, then you'll get the internship or job. Otherwise it just means that you have an ego problem.

this is one of the harshest truths to being an adult

>people hire to expand/enrich their social circle not on skill alone
>>
>>62249178
Why is that a bad thing? You may not have all the necessary skills but people will hire you because they like you. Sounds like a good deal to me.
>>
>>62249258
how do I become more likable?
>>
>>62249258
personally it works out for me because I'm fairly good looking and can fake outgoing personality but I end up ruining it by being bipolar idiot.
>>
>>62249277
I'd have to know you personally to tell you that, maybe think about situations when you made someone annoyed or sad and analyse them, try to come up with a reason in context of your personality on how that happened? Also try to hang out with your friends more, it's a practical way to develop social skills. There's one thing that is common to many computer nerds - they have a too high ego, think they know too much. Check if this is the case with you. Good luck :)

>>62249316
I don't even get this "bipolar" thing, don't fake anything, it's enough to be nice to people lol
>>
>>62249348
well its a medical condition. It makes me have extreme happiness or depression or both at same time. it doesn't effect how I interact with people really just fucks my own life up.

>>62249277
Stop leaking your autism everywhere, plenty fat fucks look like cool dudes and have good jobs or positions.
>>
>>62246527
Because it would be hell to other people on the team if thay would have to write to you over a text chat if your sitting right next to them.
>>
>>62250168
Then your interviewing skills suck.

If your school offers a business speech course, take it.
>>
>>62251558

>>
For internships it doesn't matter what you know, because we know that you don't actually know shit regardless of your claims. We look for people who are trainable and naturally we will pick people who we are able to talk to over losers. Just come in next time with more confidence be more social. Being a good asset to a company isn't about writing a bunch of code. It's about delivering business value. Learned this shit the hard way.
>>
Do you have a portfolio OP? Some of these companies are too lazy to look up your work if its across different platforms.

if you can't get an internship in IT, you should work on your hygiene.
Everybody i ever worked with was happy to bring in cheap new locals, regardless of existing skill, just because it's much easier to bring them up to speed than Pajeet.
And pajeets aren't even that cheap anymore, especially the "technical experts"

>Ask recruiter what I need to know for an internship

>Well our interns must have 4 years experience coding in c/c++ , java, and python which should be a given. They also must know JavaSCRIPT, not java, HTML, CSS, Angular JS, Perl, and a little bit of PHP. They need to be comfortable with SQL and R. They must must have a mastery of data structures and Algorithms. We expect them to know the basics of maintaining Linux servers. It should also be a given that they will have used different OS systems like redhat, opensuse, etc etc. Potential interns that want to be competitive will have exposure to agile style of programming.

>Ask HR person at another company they say the same ridiculous shit

>Repeat infinite number of times

This is why I'm still working at a shitty burger place instead of gaining valuable work experience and connections. It's so fucking hard to get an internship. That was an actual thing someone told me at an intern fair btw it's not fake. I've never felt more discouraged in my life. I can't imagine what applying after my degree will be like. I'm so fucked. How will I ever find the time to learn all that shit while taking classes and working??

Autism spectrum disorder is not the only reason to be rejected.
What if the applicant is schizoid?
Many possible reasons.
>>
>>62252579

I thought most of those job postings were made by HR peeps who, knowing fuckall about programming, just slap buzzwords onto the job postings. If you meet even half of those qualifications, you should apply anyways
>>
>>62252579
They are keeping you down on purpose, you have to wake up to the fact. Qualifications don't mean anything to them.

Lol. The life of an uglet
>>
>>62252579
That's more like some senior position, I doubt they actually find interns like that when they can be getting a job with such qualifications under their belt.

Try to find some smaller company that's fine with any type of intern, many companies would get clueless college students as interns, don't see why they wouldn't get someone with a few skills.
>>
After a year of experience in da biz I can tell you being likeable is a more demanded trait than being skilled. Skills come with time anyway and if you apply for a programming job you're already ahead of people who don't know shit about computers so you will probably learn.
>>
Getting through interviews is a skill as well, it's almost a thing of it's own where your actual tech skills actually don't matter that much. Keep your head up OP, we all were there once.

Where I'm at nobody know what the fuck it is, and no software they use or make, will use Python.
Not saying other companies won't use it, just that it must be hard since everything is already in other languages.

If you know what the requirements are, just add them to your resume and be done with it. If they're asking for that kind of shit for an intern position they're obviously just slapping buzzwords in there, and as long as you don't go full autism during the interview process there should be no problem

Even if you get caught lying so what? Then you can just try again at some other place. It's better to at least try, rather than just giving up before you have even gone anywhere.

If you do get hired then just do what everyone else does and become a pro googler and read books appropriate to the project in your spare time.
>>
>>62264263
I once heart a trick that when you see ridiculous requirements, you need to ask "what exactly do you want me to do with X", to which ghey probably will say "nothing yet" and will lose a reason to slash your salary.
