How did people who owned a Neo Geo AES go about purchasing cartridges? Were there games specifically sold at retailers, or did they have to order from a commercial catalogue?
>>3790937
I remember Sears and Fred meyer stocking Neo Geo and TG16. There were Atari stores still though and iirc lynx and maybe jag was sold at Radio Shack
>>3790940
Where in PNW are you? I only vaguely recall Neo Geo at freddys. On a very high shelf.
>>3790937
For rentals, there was a place 12 miles away that had all the early Neo Geo games.
For purchases, Die Hard Gamefan.
Am I wrong for being kinda done with this game?
I've beaten the first Fallout and loved it but this one is kinda feeling like a chore or a drag.
There's a lot of playing delivery boy, going from points A to B to C to A again being too slow and lots of encounters and slow fights.
I didn't want to feel like this but I'm not having fun anymore, I don't know what did the first game have I actually loved it.
>>3790317
it had an objective and was more linear, i liked it better too. oh and it was quite a bit shorter
where are you? it definitely takes off a bit once you hit vault city or new reno and are able to get some decent gear.
>>3790348
this, quest design is pretty Fed-Ex at the beginning (from Klamath to Vault City) but once you get to Broken Hills or New Reno quest design improves massively
The great debate
Secret of Mana > Chrono Trigger > Final Fantasy VI > Super Mario RPG
I love them all, and on any given day my order might change -
Final Fantasy VI > Secret of Mana > Chrono Trigger > Super Mario RPG

I would argue that Doom is a contender.
And Star Fox deserves mention.
Otherwise, no shit DK wins.
>>3793046
Compared to other Doom ports the SNES version looks like shit, but the fact that it's running on the system at all is still really fucking cool.when I was really little I thought it was the only version of the game
This is actaully pretty impressive.
I have over 10,000 copies of this game. When the price of the game hits $600, I'll have a net worth of 6 million dollars. Suck it Saturn fans.
Who gives a shit?
haaha nice
I have over 10,000 copies of your moms sex tape lol wrekt
Are we allowed to have a thread about homebrew games for consoles that are considered retro? We had a thread about pic related, but it was nuked.
>>3780378
Yes but posting straight-up lolicon is not.
>>3780383
No one ever posted screenshots with explicit material though.

>Master System was more popular in Yurope than Japan.
>The FM Sound Module was only released in Japan.
Was there any reason why Sega of Europe never bothered bringing it overseas? I'm guessing they probably thought the gaming audiophile market was not big enough for the west to justify making a Master System-compatible version of this add-on.
>>3791747
With sega's infamous cockiness, you'd expect that they wouldn't appreciate how inferior the master system's standard sound was to the NES.
>>3791801
PSG is pretty good if the composer has skill.
>>3791801
I can understand why they wouldn't in 'murrica, but the NES was never competition in yurop.
>Be younger me
>Always love obscure games for some reason

>never find games for it in stores
>parents won't let me order stuff

>I hate it solely for this stupid reason
>trade for a shitty pda I only ended up using to type up and store song lyrics to like 3 songs
Not like it's super rare or valuable but I didn't even give it a real chance, now I want one.
Also had a gamecom
Wasn't the worst but it wasn't great.

I wonder how the NGPC would have fared if pokemon hadn't swept up literally every single kid with it's retard friendly "rpg" gameplay and cute fuzzy animals...
>>3788453
It would have still failed. I love the NGPC but it doesn't have enough variety compared to the GBC at the time. If Sega failed with Game Gear then SNK couldn't have done better.
>>3788357
Did you trade it for a slim SNES? Because you sound just like the guy I got my CIB NGPC from.
Sup /vr/ first tiem i post here since i dont really know where to ask.
Im looking for an old famicom/nes adventure game wich features a baby on a blue suit that shots coins from his forehead.
I used to play a lot this game in my ness with a famicom adapter and i could never defeat the final boss who was another baby on samuray suit (?) that shoted lighting from his sword.
All i can recall is that you could summon some kinf of magic arrow if you left button pressed for enough time and then you could throw the arrow forward to damage enemies or use it as a jump step or something.
You could even buy upgrades for your forehead shots with the coins that enemy dropped.
I have been looking for it for like 20 years and i would like to know if anyone here has played it or has any vague idea of the game tittle
>>3794114
Mario
Sounds like Tetris to me.
>>3794114
forgot to say that the baby was bald.
Did normies ruin the N64? The few good games the system actually has go for $40+ despite being really common.
>normies
fuck off and take your /r9k/ buzzwords with you.
>>3793317
Yeah, pretty much. It's absurd to me how much Ocarina goes for, in spite of being insanely popular at the time and very very common.
Doesn't help that the emulators for the thing are so shit, either, but it's prices are better than the snes at least.
Hold up Lil nigga. Most good n64 games can be had under 20
Not every popular retro game appeals to everyone. Post popular retro games you hate and why. I'll start with these games.
Earthbound: Its too silly and simple for a jrpg. I prefer fantasy themes and mature stories in jrpgs.
Zelda OOT: i find it boring, empty and easy. Without the music its a mediocre game.
Sonic / Mario: Gets boring after an hour or so.
You forgot to include MGS and FF7, but still a good recipe for a completely shit thread that will probably get 100+ replies
>>3792975
Just my opinion, chill. I like MGS.
I've never really liked Mega Man, I just don't find it very engaging or intuitive. Might be to do with the difficulty I perceive from it. I generally like platformers and don't have a problem with bullet hell, etc. I think Metal Slug or Gunstar Heroes are good, it's just Mega Man I don't really care for so not really a sub-genre thing either.

What were the most popular consoles for each gen in your country (NES/SMS and up)? They might not be the one you liked but I'm curious.
I know in the US it was mostly Nintendo all the way, atleast where I lived. NES, SNES, N64.
I personally like nes, Genesis, ps1 but atleast from what I saw those were the systems everyone had. I don't think handhelds should be counted unless you want to because atleast here in the US Nintendo basically held a monopoly over handhelds.
>>3791697
google is your friend
>>3791697
seriously can you not even handle baby-crawling over to wikipedia yourself
Russia
Dendy (Famiclone), Megadrive, PS1.
Dreamcast was fairly popular as well.
She's going to die again..in glorious HD.. T_T why must they kill my waifu again?!
>yfw it's some protracted sequence where Sephy bumps his head on the way down and drops his sword which you acquire and then upon fleeing Sephy casts Stop which makes you fall and trip and she falls onto the sword

If they actually do that then, it would look like an accident rather than a murder

RRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
That whale stage in SA where I can't tell where I'm supposed to tilt the joystick. . .
SA2 perfected everything wrong with the original. All the Shadow stages were God-tier.
I know it's not retro (and neither is Heroes for that matter) but the ps2 port of SA2 is the greatest Sonic to this day. In my honest opinion desu.
>>3792557
>ps2 port
What?
>>3792557
...SA2 wasn't on the PS2?
