Is the Super Retro Trio any good? There's supposedly a new version with HDMI out coming in May.
Total normie apparatus

It's actual hardware and it works with flashcarts so it sounds fairly decent to me. I'm looking for legitimate criticism not buzzwords you ass.
The wife and I are content with our pic related, but I just might have to pick one of these up for her son. It reminds me of his father.
Solar Winds was great but far too short.
I only ever played the shareware portion but it seemed pretty cool
I can only ever find the shareware version of solar1, was this the way they released it and only 2 was the full game or has solar1 just never been "preserved" online?
>>3787030
Pretty sure Solar Winds 1 was only ever released as Shareware.
Solar Winds 2 was probably what you got for registering Solar Winds 1.
I'd be happy to be proven wrong though.
What was the best year for video games?
My vote goes to 1983. The ZX Spectrum was hitting its stride with the beginnings of a great library, the C64 was hitting British shores with a bang, and arcade games like Star Wars and Tapper were released. It was a great year. 1994 was also great with games like Super Metroid, Doom II, Sonic 3, Jazz Jackrabbit, and Killer Instinct being released, as well as the Sega 32X and, in Japan, the Saturn. What do you think, /vr/?
1998, 2001 or 2004. No other years can compare to those three.
>>3786693
1983 and 1994 were better.
>>3786696
Nah
>Every game is a bootleg from Mexico
>Despite this, everyone asking $100-$200 a game
>Try to buy home carts & they're $1000 each
Is there any reason to own a Neo Geo if you're not a Billionaire?
>>3786491
My local arcade has an MVS.
With two games, Samurai Shodown 4 and kof 98'.
It runs like a fucking Rolls Royce, you just can't replicate the performance emulated.
>>3786509
>you just can't replicate the performance emulated.
What issues do you run into when emulating? What's the difference?
>>3786491
its kinda cool sometimes.
Otherwise just use fightcade.
Maybe someone here can help me find a lost game.
Google searches turn up nothing, but I remember that it was called "Tales of Bowdain" or something very similar. A top-down RPG with minimal tile graphics and no real animations, where you controlled a single character exploring an over-world and dungeons, but encounters (always with a single random monster) were handled in a text-only interface. It was a bit of DOS/Win95 freeware, and I never managed to beat it; but I'd like to, given the chance.
Do we have any grognards here that might remember such a thing?
The first thing that I thought of was Castle of the Winds, but that's probably not what you meant by text interface.
>>3786478
>lost game
Did you check in the sofa? That crack where daddys keys are sometimes? Google is great but probably not gonna help you find a game you lost.

The only thing worse than being a pedant is being an incorrect pedant. "A lost work of [media]" is idiomatic English.
I have $60 to spend on PSN, and looking to DL retro/retro style games. I'm looking at Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, and Shovel Knight so far.
Need recs, genre is not an issue
get megaman legends 2 if you want to get comfy. Kind of short but if you do all the extra shit its not too bad
Double Dragon 4 is neat (and reasonably cheap). I'd also recommend Fuun Super Combo, and Assault Suit Leynos.
>>3786045
You can use Fightcade to play Chronicles of Mystara, OP. Third Strike Online is a lot of fun, but you can play regular Third Strike through Fightcade as well. Third Strike Online, however, does have more features.
sexy huh?
Finally a way to see chip rot in real time. Deniers are gonna get REKT.
I'd cum on that

wtf i love shilling now
I remember figuring out you could "win" the opening fight by cheesing the enemies attack range (or something like that).
Nothing happens of course. More enemies outside and no way to leave the map.
So i'm playing through the original trilogy again.
Last night, began resident evil 1 (Jill) and finished it early in the morning.
My time was just under 4 hours.
When I was younger I always considered Resi 1 to be the hardest of the 3, by far. But having completed it last night, I realized just how easy it actually is. I finished the game with something like 12 magnum bullets, 25 sg shells, 100 beretta bullets, 10 acid rounds, 10 grenade rounds, and 5 flame rounds.
This happens everytime I play the resi games,
I try my best to dodge everything, conserve my ammo like crazy, and by the end of the game realize I could have killed practically everything.
I'm about to play resi 2 (Leon), and this time I'm going to kill everything that gets in my way.
i'm tired of having to use up my grenade rounds on the last zombies of the game, purely for the hell of it.
Which resi would you guys consider the most difficult? (including cv)
Also, god damn do i wanna play remake.. Is it a tough game?
>>3784734
Wow, good shit anon. I still fuck up burning the bastards so they don't get back up!
REmake is a must
you can change difficulty
>>3784734
>Which resi would you guys consider the most difficult? (including cv)
From hard to easy CV > RE1 > RE3 > RE2
>Also, god damn do i wanna play remake.. Is it a tough game?
Remake is way harder than RE1, but you can choose the difficulty (easy and hard for GC/Wii, plus normal in the HD remaster)
What are the best Game Boy / Game Boy Color mods?
I have a couple stock ones and thinking about getting a modified one for a daily driver, suggestions?
Also, Game Boy General, post your Game Boys.
GB Boy Colour seems pretty cool, you can mod it with an original GBC D-Pad
Cut a couple inches off the sides so you can fit it in your ass
>>3785129
Doesn't GB boy have the wrong aspect ratio?
I only have a Pocket and a GB Light. If anyone wants to trade the Light for a AGS-101 modded pocket I'm game. Light is a cool novelty but the ghosting is too much.
The healer fights with a crossbow and the offensive caster fights with a gun, how comfy is that?
Sounds pretty fucking stupid, why do they have guns in medieval times? Mages are weak and close range to offset their healing power, giving them ranged weaponry is utterly retarded as well.

>What are Time Travelers.
>>3783456
>muh realism in a fantasy time travel JRPG
They had hand canons back then.
The stages in kickle cubickle are supposed to represent drawings of real world objects.
>what did they mean by this?
Feet?
Scissor?
Golf clubs?
This game seriously has the best modding community of any other game and the game itself is awesome. What do you think, /vr/?
Post favorite mods/maps.

Wizard Wars was my jam, along with ARG: Pirates Strike Back.
I still play Master Sword occasionally by myself on the deserted servers but I'm at a point in the progression where most of the maps my level are too bugged to complete.
