What a thrill

Tangentially related trivia:
"I am the Wind" and "Snake Eater" are sung by the same person
>not cheesing it with Grant
FUCK THIS GAME ITS TOO HARD
>>3777553
The only 'hard' part is Welcome to the Machine.
Git gud.
>>3777553
I'd say its about mid range difficulty for a genesis game.
>>3777553
You must first learn to think as a dolphin.

>All this hate for EarthBound
>claiming it's only good because "le hipster" and you're "le contrarian"
I thought this was /vr/, not /v/
>>3776278
I played it
Didn't like
Moved on with my life
I suggest you do the same, OP
>>3776278
I don't have to like your faggoty game.
You'd see the same level hate for Super Metroid if it cost $300 a copy.
What are some new insights you gained on the games you loved as a kid?
I've gone around the twist. MK is so over the top that you just take it at face value.
>>3776065
Same than OP.
Also: most 3D games from the 90s look like total rubbish man
>>3776065
As a kid I never understood why there was so much blood or why everyone had to be mutilated when it was just a martial arts tournament
Happy 20th Anniversary Final Fantasy VII! Here's to hoping the remake doesn't completely blow ass.
I wonder ifit'll usher in a new wave of Tifa hentai.
>>3770690
I doubt it.It'll probably usher in more SFM porn though.
It will. Sorry.
For Ultima IV (SMS), the white stone doesn't seem to be in its usual place in the Serpent's Spine mountains just south of the ankh. Is it just somewhere else, or is this a bug of some kind?
If it's a bug, does anyone know a way to edit the Fusion emulator save state files (or save files) to add in the white stone?
I've already scoured the internet with Google search, and nobody else seems to know a solution to this. It's also a show-stopper, since not having the white stone prevents you from finishing the game.
For that matter, maybe one could patch the rom with something like Lunar IPS, to put the white stone in an accessible location? Or maybe even read the existing rom to find out where it's supposed to be.
IIRC you don't get it if you teleport and search, you have to search while in baloon
>>3789710
That so? Weird. I've been using Blink to try and get it because the balloon was too much of a hassle. Gonna go back and try the balloon again, then.
>>3789715
Well how 'bout that, using the balloon worked; see pic related. That's just bizarre that you have to use the balloon to get it. Well, thanks for the advice anon!
I can see why this was never released.
>>3789418
hangzoself
It's a trashy game like most of those unreleased betas. If it were actually good it would have seen the light of day.
>>3789426
>if it were actually good it would have seen the light of day
I'm still bitter about conker 64 and starfox 2.
Why the hell people say that Dracula X is a bad game? Sure it's not as good as Rondo of Blood but still a great game on it's own.
Magazines back in the day bashed it for no reason whatsoever.
>>3789221
People got pissed it was not a 1:1 port of Rondo of Blood.
Ah, you mean Vampire's Kiss?
Does anyone know why in SNES era games, snake enemies, especially bosses, were always made of a bunch of balls?
Not just snakes, but any enemy with long body parts. Robotnik's machine in the Green Hill zone, The first stage boss in Megaman X2, the two headed dragons in Secret of Mana...
Why balls?
>>3788226
Devs were homos, so they liked balls
>>3788240
Fucking this. It's all because of sprites. Go play Space Harrier.
>>3788226
Easiest to program.
The easiest way to make a snake is to copy an object over itself several times, then you just have to let them move corresponding to each other and you got a pretty good snake body for relatively little effort.
But which tiles for the percieved 3D body to take? Let's say you take cylinders, then whenever your snake moves you'd have to make each sprite tilt individually so the body does not visually break up. Cubes- meaning squares in 2D don't look really organic- A chain of spheres is the optimal solution.
Use a bunch of sphere sprites and the circluar outline in shape is unaffected by rotation- so now to have your snake move you can just make the chain of balls move around EACH OTHER without having them rotate or tilt saving work and being less taxing for the machine while still making a pretty convincing snake body.
Is this game responsible for the fart noises meme?
>>3788143
I dunno but when i think of the genesis: fart machine i generally think of DOOM for the 32x
Also semi related but why didn't SEGA america just use the sonic 2 engine to make sonic spinball with modifications? That's the sonic pinball game i always wanted as a kid, not the... semi okay game we ended up with
>>3788156
It wasn't supposed to feel like the pinball in the casino zones from the mainline games, it was to feel a little more like actual pinball, albeit with the gimmick that you can slightly control the ball.
Sonic Spinball was pretty fun, okay?
BRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPP
What games have the best spritework?
SNK games
cpsII/III and neogeo, take your super nintendo and go home sempai

So I've got the following games on N64 right now:
>Banjo-Kazooie
>Smash Bros
>Diddy Kong Racing
>Goldeneye 007
>Super Mario 64
My friend is lending me DK64, Star Fox 64, and Ocarina of Time.
What games should I try to get next? Considering pic related or maybe Conker if I get enough money.
Looks like you're missing F-Zero X, Wave Race 64, Mystical Ninja, Mischief Makers, Bangai-O, Sin & Punishment, Rogue Squadron, Tetrisphere, Wrestlemania, and Bomberman 64.
Custom Robo V2. It mixes RPG and robot battles but you don't need to know japanese to beat it.

What was the reason to develop Quest 64?
Was it literally just
>WE NEED AN RPG FOR THE N64!
>PROGRAMMING AND TESTING ISN'T GOING GREAT, RELEASE IT ANYWAY!
This is probably the first game I thought was bad and didn't want to play anymore.
>>3787739
Yes, anon, it was exactly that.
((Quest)) 64.... Basically ((RPG genre)) 64... the only representative from the RPG genre on the N64.
>>3787741
I didn't have a memory card for my N64, so I thought it was one of those games that would get massively better if you got farther.
Whats the best Aladdin game, /vr/?
>>3787716
Genesis and SNES versions are tied for greatest
I didn't even know there was a Master System version.
>>3787729
It's not the best by any measure, but it's a damn beautiful game for an 8-bit system and worth a play.
>tfw no infinite continues
>tfw you go all the way back when you die
>tfw long password
>tfw power adaptor is too big
Hey now, there are some big power adapters.
>>3787680
For Jew.
>>3787662
unless you're playing with a keyboard if a game's only method of saving is a password i can see the password being too long as a legitimate complaint
