What is your opinion on Smithy?
Not Exor.
>>3797831
Exor doesn't have Sledge though.
Seems like a more compelling villain when you're a kid who wishes Mario was deeper than it is.
Sonic was made for 2D and no 3D version will ever be as successful or fun.
How is that an unpopular opinion? People generally tend to dislike the 3D Sonics, the Adventure games excluded.
>>3795248
I think the general opinion in this board is that "Sanic" was't really made for either 2D or 3D bro
N64 is a shit console
N64 is a good console

I think what went right would be a shorter, more manageable list
Haven't seen one of the in a while, so let's make a Baldur's Gate general!
I'm about to start playing BGEE for the first time ever. Is it friendly for someone who has no idea of the rules of D&D?
Do you recommend to play vanilla unmoded or EE unmoded? Or in case I just have to use mods, which are the must have?
>>3788663
>Is it friendly for someone who has no idea of the rules of D&D?
Read the manual. Seriously.
>>3788663
Vanilla. No mods.
Yes, it's friendly unless you are braindead.
Give me interesting suggestions for multiplayer games that are easy to pick up for someone who's never played. (SNES, NES, or Genesis preferred.)

Do you agree with these 1991 video game reviews, /vr/? They appeared in an issue of "Zillions" magazine, aka "Consumer Reports for kids."
Also, here's a report on "video game violence" from that same issue. You might find this amusing:

1. Megaman 2.5D
2. Megaman Unlimited
3. Megaman Project Zero
right /vr/?
>>3804485
>no megaman 4 minus infinity
>>3804485
I dont fucking know what any of those games are but i dont want a mega man thread to die
Megaman 2.5D wasn't even that good, the controls are slightly off.
Humorous listings thread

Is that your auction OP? Are you trying to shill here?

Why would he brag about typos?
I am still convinced that there is a secret left to the running man in OoT. I know that sounds absurd, because it's been so long, but I still believe it. I was wondering if anyone here had any possible things to try, or things I might not consider. I think you have to do something during the race.
Here's an interesting thing I didn't know; if you go back in time, the race is still on. The clock keeps ticking. You can even talk to the running man, as young link, during the race. He doesn't say anything different though
I feel like if there was a solution to that mystery, it would involve doing something as young link, but that's just a guess.
Other things I've tried: going to the bridge in the forest as young link (nothing happens). Going to dampe's race during the race (simply replaces the timer with Dampe's timer.) And, as adult Link, getting to the lost woods from the warp in zoras river (I assumed that if you do that, it might not load the running man in the same way. But it does).

I think even with hacking it's impossible.
He literally exists to troll people like you.
Ocarina Of Time has been dissected probably more than any other game ever created. People have combed through every single line of code. There is no congratulatory text in the game's code.
Hey /vr/,
I am thinking of making a project that involves NES cartridges and magnets as a storage solution, and I wanted to ask if the Cartridges themselves could be harmed in any way? The roms are probably safe as far as i can assume, but what about the savefiles or the batery inside? Would it interfere with these components? Would it have bad juju in the cartridges that if you stick them into a console it would zap it? Don't want to mess up the ol' piece of hardware, it has survived so long.
Being on this topic, how about with other cartridges?
>Pic not really related, best I could find when googling nes and magnets.
>>3803438
It makes mustard gas.
>>3803501
thenk you jeebus
>>3803438
Don't use magnets that are too strong. Prolonged and repeated exposure to permanent magnets can still fuck up magnetic properties of ferrous material. I don't know much about the makeup of the circuitry in most cartridges, though.
Hey /vr/. I am taking a quick census regarding 3d platformer collectathon games. If you could take a short minute to answer the following questions and share your opinions I'd be most grateful. Please feel free to answer in as much or little words as you want.
>1.What do you enjoy most about the genre? What do you think improvements could be made towards it?
>2. What is your favorite collectathon game? What is it you enjoyed most about said game and how it was implemented?
>3.What was it that made the genre fun for you? This does not limit to gameplay, visuals/sounds, or mechanics.
>4. The genre has changed and aged, just as any does, since the dawn of the 3d era. Has it changed for the better or worse, why, and how?
>5. There has been a resurgence of the 3d collectathon genre, particularity with indie devs and kickstarter programs. Based on what you've seen of these projects do you like the direction of them, and would they possibly better the genre or worsen it?
>6. What are some bad elements of collectathon games that are overused/unneeded, and examples of such? How do you think these elements could be improved?
If anyone also wants to elicit any discussion on the subject of collectathons, I would be more than happy to talk about mechanics, design, or other elements. I figure this would be a great place to discuss them seeing as most popular collectathons are considered retro. Thanks in advance for your time.

Happy to help.
1. I can resell the games for a profit.
2. Conker's Bad Fur Day is a consistent moneymaker. It's surprising how often they turn up at garage sales or public storage auctions yet the online price is very high. Also I can put +++RARE GAME+++ in the buy it now listing without upsetting my conscience.
3. It feels like I'm rescuing a small piece of people's childhood. Many 30-somethings feel a strong nostalgia for the genre. Teens and 20-somethings like to jump on the bandwagon too which keeps the games in demand.
4. The genre becomes more and more rose-tinted every day.
5. Don't care about indies. I deal in carts.
6. Outside of the Nintendo stuff, the games can start looking pretty cheap. People constantly trying to low-ball.
>>3803297
Ah so you deal in the retro market. Do you run a shop or just sell out of the house?
>>3803312
No need for a shop. These type of games are in high enough demand that people will seek them out themselves. I sell the carts online under a few different names.

Tom is a goddamn treasure
It's not portrayed by the English voice actor version but he is as cliché american import foreigner straight off the boat as they come in the original Japanese version.
Choose.
SNES is less cheap. MK64 fucking cheats.
I like em both
snes. but i admit it's for pure nostalgia reasons. i never spent a lot of time with mario kart 64. i'm thinking of getting it on virtual console. how has it aged?
Hey /vr/ I absolutely love video games, but it's hard for me to sit down and actually play one. I noticed my problem a couple years ago. I list slowly gotten worse. I mean if I force myself I can usually get into a game and feel the joy I used too, but it's rare that I try, despite wanting to play numerous games I haven't played yet!
Does anybody else have this problem or should I just kill myself?
>>3802668
You need to find a way to focus more on particular games.
>Read vintage gaming magazines and rediscover a game you'd forgotten wanting to play real bad
>Dig more deeply into your favorite genres of games for more obscure examples that you might particularly enjoy
>Learn how to know the point at which you've really seen what a game has to offer and don't allow yourself to drop one you've chosen before that point
>Consider buying real physical games or even just repros at a modest rate, maybe one every time you get paid and play only that game until next time
>>3802668
Stop being sad, anon. Stop it.
>>3802678
Hmm I haven't bought a retro game for a long time and sold all my old systems... perhaps this could work. I've already done the obscure thing...
I want to play the resident evil code veronicas. How cheap is it to buy them plus a ps2 or whatever system they are on. I'm a broke fag!
I'm looking for some obscure PC games (DOS is fine too). Things sort of like Pink Gear Collection, Eastern Mind, or LSD Dream Emulator.
Any suggestions?

Eastern Mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks2PwtTGyig
LSD Dream Emulator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jGwGGZR5CA
there are the obvious games like chu-teng and garage
Yeah I know about them as well. I actually can't find the DL link for Garage though
Do you know about Deathtrap Dungeon?
