Have you guys ever heard of this game called the legend of Zelda I just found out about it today... It looks really fun
>>3802000
Never heard of it. Tell me more about the game, anon. How would you classify its genre.
>>3802000
Try the sequels. They're great!
>>3802023
You mean you haven't played it yet?
We can play it on my Nintendo Entertainment System!
What are some games with endings setting the course for a sequel but never got one
I would kill for a sequel.
I know there's a fan sequel
>>3801001
Xenogears set itself up for 5 sequels. It's gotten lots of spiritual successors but no direct sequel
>>3801001
How does this sets up a sequel?
I'm gonna need a thread of only your classiest /vr/ music covers and remixes. No shitty techno, synth or dubstep need apply.

Do these fuckers really work to allow US and JAP games to be played on European SNESs?
What do they supposedly do, bypass a lockout chip or something?
>running games slower on purpose

Enjoying Terranigma Yank?
>>3799241
Yes, and I'm enjoying it with the patch that makes it run at 60fps.
Im looking for good and weird games with those bastards. I always thought it was amazing how special some of those titles were, featuring a lot of b-tier characters in different genres instead of the classical platform games/karting route that most cartoon vidya usually takes.
So i´m not looking for ultra-polished games, just fun and bizarre titles.
I post this on /vr/ since those guys didn´t show very often on modern days, but you are welcome to post non-retro titles as well
Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday is probably the most solid. There are a lot of kart racers which are pretty hard to fuck up.
If you're willing to include Tiny Toon Adventures under the Loony Toons umbrella, the NES, SNES, and Game Boy games are all solid.
Imo, Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider on PS1 is the best one. It's basically a Wile E. Coyote episode as a game.

I'd rather be doing the mario.

left is the hero we deserved but never got
right is gay cunt
I like how Lou absolutely hated working on the show, and said he'd spit on any fan who'd approach him about it.
Tell me about the Framemeister!
is a Compact Up Scaler Unit worth over THREE HUNDRED american dollars?
>>3798015
For that cost you could build a PC with an analog capture card.
>>3798018
Analog capture? You on crack son?
The 'meister is specialized hardware similar to a good scaler chip in an LCD or previously found in DVD/hi-fi systems prior to widespread HDTV adoption. It accels in taking an RGB scart signal and upscaling to HDMI. But its analog DA chips are also some of the best for cleaning up an inherently bad analog signal possible.
The BEST analog capture cards are absolute dogshit. They crush black levels horrible, don't scale, and need tweaking to remove adverse combing, etc. Also, if a cap card was intended for realtime MPEG2/4 capture; it usually has buffering delay built in and can be difficult to disable.
In short, apples to dogturds.
>>3798015
>THREE HUNDRED american dollars
For that money you could get a bunch of nice CRTs
So I'm playing Donkey Kong Country 2 and I get to the first level of the last world. I drain like all my lives on this section before looking up and learning that there's a roll-jump technique where you jump after rolling off an edge. Wtf? I never learned that through gameplay and did the whole game without it. This is just bad design, to never require a player use a technique (that's never taught!) until the VERY end of the game. Not impressed in the least.
yeah get good faggot
Alright, jump... Get over there! C'mon! Get... OVER THERE!!! UGGHH!! Why can't I clear this jump?
Oh, wait. You mean there's a ROLL jump? A ROLL JUMP!? How was I suppose to know how to do that? The *game* never told me anything about a stupid roll jump, I thought the bananas were just there to tell me to leap into the bramble and kill myself, a game designer's "fuck you," if you will. What a shitload of fuck! I mean, a ROLL JUMP? What were they thinking!?!? Did a human being even playtest this monkey turd?
I'd rather eat a mongoose's rancid fuckfarts with a side of seagull caca than play this shitty game!
Such a nice looking game though.
What are some /vr/ games based in ancient China?

/vr/ is my favorite board but it's been negative as fuck lately. Everyone just needs to chill and remember that retro games are fun.
What have you been playing lately that you've enjoyed? Made any recent acquisitions that you're excited about? What's your favorite /vr/ item that you own?
I've been really excited to play Thief Gold again. It's fun seeing new things that I haven't seen before, it feels like I'm learning or experiencing new things.
On a separate note, I do agree. I think some of /v/'s toxicity is leeching onto here. We need to remind ourselves that we're not a cool variant of /v/ and never will be.

Been playing Link to the Past on the Wii since I got my classic controller pro. I haven't played it since I got it with my Super back in the 90's and it's funny the little things you forget and remember.
>>3796181
Yeah man, LttP is the shit. Its probably my favorite 2D Zelda, though I've never gotten around to actually finishing it, I've been debating picking it up for 3DS VC and finally finishing it.
ITT: Good Mega Drive games that are also easy on the wallet. Pic related.
EA Hockey is great fun for all, and Madden's alright when you get your head around it.
Plenty of fun EA games iirc. The Immortal is chock full of bullshit deaths, but it's got a black sense of humor about it.

Is this thing worth owning for any reason besides completing a console collection? I don't mean that in a bait sort of way, I'm serious; are there any worthwhile games, any cool thing you can do, or something like that?
>>3782768
>all the Sega arcade games
>Shenmue
>SoulCalibur
>Power Stone
>Phantasy Star Online
And you could play online in the 90s.
ChuChu Rocket!
Crazy Taxi
Crazy Taxi 2
Daytona USA
The House of the Dead 2
Jet SET Radio
Phantasy Star Online
Shenmue
Shenmue II
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Virtua Fighter 3tb
COOL? it can STILL go online, and play online games.
Shit was light years ahead and revolutionised online console gaming
It was so far ahead of its time, it was already dead on arrival.
PS plebs couldnt comprehend.

tl;dr should moving a 14inch sony pvm around just a little bit while its powered on be enough of a problem to blow out a display circuit or did i just have bad luck?
I just got a SONY PVM14 (manufactured in 2003) from a guy on craigslist, he was super chill, only paid $100 for it and it has RGB ports and everything.
He used to work in post production and actually had about half a dozen 14 inchers and a few 20 inchers in his apartment, just got them through connections and was selling some/keeping others for personal use.
Anyways, I tested the monitor at his place, he even included the BNC to RCA adapters in case I didn't have a direct scart connection/for my convenience and he had his Famicom running mario 2 plugged in and it looked great. Just what I wanted
So I secured the TV in my car and when I got home, I plugged it into my surge protector/power strip and after a few seconds of being turned on, I slid it to the side to plug in a game console and as I moved the monitor a spark flashed from inside and the display no longer turns on. I'm guessing a fuse was blown or I potentially knocked something out of place while moving it
I messaged the guy I bought it from and he also does repairs, he told me to just bring it back and he'd give me another one simple as that, so thats fine and all taken care of and ill have it done next weekend
What I want to know is, while the monitors are powered on, is moving them around known to cause problems? I've never had that sort of problem with any TV, I know they are different than a commercial type of TV but I figured they were built just as sturdy. Did I just have bad luck? Has anyone else had a similar problem, I just want to make sure I take proper care of the replacement the guy gives me, he was really nice about it and didn't even second question me so I'm just thankful I'm not losing my money or anything
Anyone with good advice please respond
Thanks
>>3802629
My 14's a bit different from that one does yours not have a speaker? I remember giving my dad a brand new VGA monitor and him tipping it back onto the plug while it was on and frying it. I pretty much never move CRTs around while they're on. You probably broke the power jack off from the board it's an incredibly common way that electronics get damaged. It seems like more modern stuff allows some flex in their power jacks but old stuff really doesn't that's one point in favor of thinner, more flexible AC cables.
>>3802649
Noted, I'm definitely gonna be careful with the replacement, the guy had done one or two mods to it (there were some switches on the back that could flip/reverse the picture, clearly for studio use) so maybe that could have play in why it shorted out
But yeah, I'm just gonna be super careful, and I know, I have some very basic knowledge of circuits and how to solder but I'm not even going to chance opening it, again, the guy was super chill and nice enough to just say yeah come switch it so I'm gonna take it while I can get it
>>3802658
its in the bottom left, the color blends in with the casing so its harder to notice
More good to know stuff, I was barely moving it but I guess I just didn't think much about it because it was so small, I would never move my normal sized CRT I have around, its typically stationary, I'll treat it as such from now on

Is the OSSC officially the best upscaler on the market now?
>>3801942
All I'm seeing is out of spec video out, so it's a gamble for whether or not any given TV will accept it.
This thing seems like a finicky mess and I'm never sure about what benefits it actually brings.
At least with the framemeister the benefits are clear. This thing has basic troubles with SNES and the line multiplication modes don't like any better than a 1080P upscale to me? just don't see the point.
>>3803114
Wow all those words with so little meaning. It does the same thing as a framemeister, which also has issues with certain setups.
