thoughts?
Good music, good story, good dialogues, challenging. Better than 2D zelda games in aspect of presentation and narration.(duh, the story in first Zeldas is nonexistant). On the other hand gameplay in some parts could use some polish(desert level was shit if i remember correctly). In some parts music and sounds are annoying or start to be depressing.
Overall 7-8/10, very good game but wouldn't say it's a "must have". Liked it more than SNES Zelda, becouse i put more emphasis on characters in my games.
Brown
Better than Zelda. Some gilded falcons were stupid garbage however and so was getting the strongest sword.
I felt like sharing my mame HLSL settings. This is as close as i can get to replicating my 90's trinitron crt on an 1080p LG ips panel. Despite the absence of pre-scaling and up-scaling, when the games scroll really fast you can tell its not real scanlines but a bogus overlay. And even with bloom its impossible to replicate the sheer luminosity of a real crt. Fun as it may be, emulation isn't the real thing. You get pretty closer but emus never nail it 100%.

The ini goes into the INI folder. Prescale.fx goes into the HLSL folder. The aperture.png goes into the artwork folder. Have fun and let me know if it worked for y'all emulation niggers.

Whats your point dude. You don't have a more worthwhile hobby other than typing "autism" into your keyboard a couple of times a day?
>>3839835
Why even ask?
>>3839828
>>3839851
If you shitpost atleast put more effort into it. Why do you even trouble yourself with solving the captcha just to tell someone on 4chan, of all places, that he is autistic? Go jump off a cliff you cockgobbler.
Alright, I'm about to play this one for the first time ever. Should I play the US release or the patched MaternalBound Omega version?
on original hardware
Neither. Play the original.
If you don't get the original cart then technically you aren't playing it.
So now that Mike Matei has been exposed pressing buttons over recorded video, who's a good player that actually plays through retro games without emulators and doesn't use memeshit? Besides Bootsy?
Here's the evidence by the way:

cool story bro
I have to be honest.... I love how much hate that this guy is getting. He deserves every second of it. I hope it never stops and I pray that he fades into obscurity

Find a more punchable face. I dare you.
I never owned or played any Neo Geo stuff but I want to get into it. Starting with emulation because I have other money concerns right now, does a good Neo Geo emulator exist? Also, what are some games I should look into besides Mark of the Worves?
There's less than 200 games on the system. Just eliminate any genres you don't like (but don't you dare skip Neo Turf Masters) and go down the list.
>>3839320
I didn't know the library was that small. Thanks anon.
Now, about that emulator? Any good shit that isn't MAME?
>>3839310
>does a good Neo Geo emulator exist?
Neo Geo games are just arcade games. MAME and Final Burn Alpha work perfectly.
There are only 150 or so Neo Geo games. I once took a weekend and played all of them. I'd recommend just doing that. You'll find a lot of gems and stuff that might appeal to you despite not being very popular.
Also Neo Turf Masters is the best game ever made.
>everyone keeps saying how this game is good
>always like to recruit everyone in games with a bunch of characters
>saw that some characters have bullshit means to recruit
>can't get the good ending without all of them
>my autism is keeping me from playing this game
I loved the first one, what exactly I'm losing here?
>>3839048
None of the characters are hard to recruit, dude. The only "hard" missable is the Clive quest since it forces you to rush the beginning of the game.
>>3839048
Stay away from Chrono Cross. You need to play through the game 3 times to get all the characters.
>>3839048
One of the greatest games of all time.
Just make sure you play the PAL version. It has some bugfixes
Can someone recommend me a good flashing service for EPROM chips?
I got burned by Gamereproductions.com-- I got one order from them fulfilled, but I put in another last October and they never shipped it. They stopped answering my emails so obviously I'm never ordering from them again, but now I need to find an alternative.
buyicnow offer to program any ICs you buy from them for 50 cents extra.
I've never had them program any ICs i bought from them myself since I have the tools to do so myself.
Since I've never had any problem with what I ordered from them I'd say it's worth a shot though.
>>3838726
I too was burned by Game Reproductions. I have been waiting on an order for 2 Months now. They haven't answered my e-mail.
>>3838726
Dude, just buy a WIllem or something. Shit's like $50, works on a huge number of chips, and is reusable indefinitely. It's really, really easy.
There's a song that Sympony of the Night shares with Bloodlines. What is it? I can't remember off hand.
you sure you aren't thinking of Circle of the Moon?
iirc all of sotn's ost was original music

Why is it that so many games on the NES, and even into the SNES era, had no way to continue playing the game from where you left off? So many NES games must be completed from start to finish in one sitting. I can't beat many of these games on original hardware, because I'm so busy with work and often have to stop playing for long periods. Instead I emulate and use savestates so as not to lose progress.
What's the point? I know it was expensive to implement a battery save system, but it's not like implementing a password system was difficult.
>>3838391
just leave your system on for weeks like a normal person so you can resume anytime.
>>3838391
Many games were arcade conversions with scores and stuff like that. But also, a lot of NES games were short as fuck. At the time, increasing game's length was a big point. No passwords = more game hours.
Most games didn't need passwords or saves.
Best music. Best Mega Man?
>that cover
Mommy, why is mega man holding a pistol?
If best music makes one best Mega Man, than Turrican 2 is best Mega Man.
Please tell stories about this mysterious device.
Go play Night Slave.
There's a lot of porn on it but also an even larger amount of just games where 80s style computer gaming and Japanese gaming overlap which isn't something most Westerners are very familiar with so it's pretty easy to have a wtf kind of experience with it. I'm sure it'd be much better if you were fluent in Japanese so I prefer MSX myself but it can still be quite interesting.
>>3838891
>where 80s style computer gaming and Japanese gaming overlap
whadda ya mean
How did Nintendo manage to make a CGI-inspired 2D game uglier than Donkey Kong Country with 50 times the hardware power and 3 times the ROM space?
Also what the fuck is with the gameplay?
Was this farmed out to the interns? The ones that would later make Skyward Sword?
And the annoying Yoshi's voice. Don't forget that fucking voice.
>>3837827
> CGI-inspired
U Wot
The game is crap not because of the graphics, it's crap because of the concept, the gameplay and the level design.
We all know the game is downright unplayable if you just collect any fruit since you finish the level like one third into the level because there are so many fucking fruits.
Recently I tried the recommended melon only run and gave up in the first level because Yoshi's ability to detect secrets with his nose ruined the entire game. You seriously need to use this ability in the entire level to find all melons, you need to press the button go a few steps and wait to see Yoshi's reaction and this the entire level. This is when the melon only run died for me.
So how are you supposed to play the game to have fun? There is no way. Even if you go trough the entire level before finishing it it isn't much fun.
Has anyone had any experience using USB arcade 'fightsticks' with MAME on Retropie?
I've been looking at these QanBa sticks which look very nice.
https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/categories/QanBa/Fight-Sticks/
I've also seen some cheaper Mayflash sticks which are upgradeable with Sanwa sticks and buttons.
http://www.mayflash.com/Products/FIGHTSTICK/
They all seem to be plug and play so should work with Retropie out of the box but I was wondering if there are any others that anyone can recommend?
They're called arcade sticks, faggot.
>>3837609
It's cheaper to get a PCB and build your own with quality parts from Sanwa, Seimitsu, or Industrias Lorenzo (HAPP parts are no longer quality).
Of course, if you want to save time and effort and get a pre-made stick, go with either the Mad Catz TE sticks, HORI, or Eightarc/Qanba. You always want to make sure they use Sanwa or Seimitsu parts, or that they are compatible with them.
Mayflash is generally not a good brand to go with in terms of arcade sticks, since they use cheap parts and are more or less incompatible with quality parts.
A good, cheap solution is to grab the Qanba Q1 (now known as the Carbon for some reason, pic related), as it's only $60. And then switching out the Qanba buttons and stick with Sanwa buttons and a Sanwa JLF stick (buy from Focus Attack or Paradise Arcade Shop).
You can find countless videos and guides for modding this particular stick, and it'll work flawlessly on PC (ie your RPi)
You can also spend $20 more and get the Qanba Drone and the modding procedure is the same, but at that price point (Drone + buttons + stick), you might as well grab a used Mad Catz TE on Amazon and clean it up.
>>3837636
>grab a used Mad Catz TE on Amazon and clean it up
I meant eBay, Amazon is terrible for used products.
Im 27. I played Dune II for the first time yesterday and I am not coming out to tell you all that it still rules. This game is better and more challenging than anything else I've played this year. People should make games like this like they used to.
What's so good about it anon? Big fan of the books but never played the game.
>>3837723
Nothing special IMHO. Sure, it's the first RTS but nowadays it kinda feels bland. Play 2000 instead.
>>3837597
If you havent played it on Sega you've lost a lot of feels.
