Im 27. I played Dune II for the first time yesterday and I am not coming out to tell you all that it still rules. This game is better and more challenging than anything else I've played this year. People should make games like this like they used to.

Nothing special IMHO. Sure, it's the first RTS but nowadays it kinda feels bland. Play 2000 instead.

Love the Sega version. I remember nearly everybody coming into contact with the game being hooked... similar to Doom - a total classic.

Yes. It's okay. I am not sure if you should play it.
Basically, mechanic-wise it was something like C&C 3. I remember that I had to gather my starting army and quickly rush the enemy base to destroy important structures. Otherwise, the enemy starts producing too much units, and your defenses won't hold.

Emperor is fucking awesome. It's like if you had Command & Conquer based on the David Lynch Dune movie. And the single player campaign is insanely cool, and somewhat open ended up to a point.
