Same here. When I do partake I like the old Resident Evils. The jump scares seem that much more breathtaking. Same goes without, but it's greatly enhanced since it's rare of me to smoke as well.

Not retro, but Hotline Miami definitely does the trick, especially for these moments when you just stop thinking and kill shit, enjoying the cool soundtrack and feeling like some kind of hero from a John Woo movie.
Hotline Miami is cool 2, but doesn't really allow the frantic style of gameplay, as it's more "puzzle-y" and unforgiving. (By the way, what does /vr/ think about Hotline Miami ?)
Otherwise I just stick to what I usually like to play, mostly fighting games and shmups.
Outrun and Crazy Taxi are nice picks too, now that I think about it.

I did an Earthbound playthrough while drunk, half a bottle of whatever per night until I was done. I don't really recommend it unless you have your reasons. It was nice from an emulated innocence and joy perspective, though.

IMO Alcohol is really terrible. Its expensive, most of it tastes like shit, and it makes you feel like shit and get sick if you drink too much. I do enjoy a beer. But hard liqueur just makes me sick because I dont know how to mix it properly.
