While I can't recommend any specific titles, I haven't had significant issues running ps1/saturn or earlier games on my 2008 craptop. Most demanding i can recall was Panzer dragoon saga having slowdown in 2 boss fights during the game. I figure most of your specs beat mine, so if you pick from that era or earlier, you should be fine.

It could be anything, tho desu, parents divorcing, being bullied at school, any feeling of worry or concern that you used the game to "escape" from.

The game helped you ignore reality, while your brain blocked all that shit up, compartmentalized it and hid the memories from you. Now as an adult, you get a bad feeling when you think about it. It's weird how kids heads work.

The sequel went for a more normal look with simple textures with smooth shading and really boring flat 2D stages.

Just quoting my other post before passing out. Here's some berserk life leech. You leech 1-5HP per punch up to 80HP currently. It's not a whole lot, but enough that you can use it to make a recovery if you're careful. I might increase the health gain a bit based on my testing.

there's a trick to it involving tricking the hardware into thinking the disc lid is closed and hotswapping discs but that's all i remember

Nitwit. It's a matter of androgynizing the chip that detects NTSC and PAL discs. Learn to solder. It's not difficult. The fact that consoles do this is purely a licensing issue between continents. The hardware can still detect the disc. It can still be played. A PS1 disc is a PS1 disc. NTSC and PAL are invisible borders that bare no relation with how any of it works. It's business. Learn to androgynize the chip reader. I never had any issues with my imports after I did it.
