Why is Mega Man 3 the best Mega Man game and the best 8-bit platformer ever made?
what came after six and before x?
>>3833534
It's okay though because 3 really is the best Mega Man game. Adding Rush and sliding was the perfect addition of flexibility that the series needed before gimmicks starting getting out of control with 4. Also the best soundtrack of the franchise.
How hard is this game compared to Final Fight 2 and Streets Of Rage 2?
Harder. Also you have more moves to learn. I'd say the skill ceiling may be higher too.
Great game
>>3833360
I beat Ninja Warriors and Streets of Rage 2 on my first plays - so it's definitely not harder.
It took me several attempts to beat Final Fight 2 though.
>>3833332
Much easier than either of those.
ITT: Shit that terrified you as a kid.
Seriously shit my pants when I opened the door, heard a loud 'GUTEN TAG!', and he opened fire with those massive machine guns. He pretty much raped my ass in a matter of seconds. I had to have been about 9 years old. My heart was beating so fast afterward.

I've actually never made it this far in Wolfenstein, but that story is fucking hilarious.
>be youngfag
>grow up with star fox 64
>finally decide to try the original
>kind of jarring, but i get into the hang of things
>it's actually not bad, it's not bad at all...
>suddenly, slippy isn't doing too well
>he makes a horrifying sound
>"NO!! NO!! CRROOAKK!!"
>he crashes and burns
>doesn't come back
>he's fucking dead
>mfw
I DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS SHIT
Slippy is the worst, who cares if he dies.
>>3832637
>OP shares an amusing and interesting story about his experience with a great retro game
>LE SLIPPY IS SUCKY MAYMAY XD LOLOL
Fuck off
>>3832687
I don't really see how his anecdote was "amusing and interesting" but if you want to seethe at your monitor like an autist because of an offhand comment then it's no skin off my nose, I guess.
Get we get a motherfucking Duke Nukem thread started up in this bitch? Y'all can talk about any Duke Nukem game. It does not have to be Duke Nukem 3D.
Duke Nukem Zero Hour was the best Duke Nukem game of all time.
I'm going to pour a sip of my beer onto my rug to honor the dead franchise after it's official death upon release of Duke Nukem Forever.

Manhattan Project kicked me in the dick with awesomeness when I was younger. That game was amazing.
Whats the most expensive video game you own? For me its my sealed copy of soldier blade for the turbografx 16. Ive seen it be sold for over $400 in ebay. The american version goes for over $1000 sometimes.
Better pic.
Probably my old PS2 games in the attic from when I was 14
>>3831862
Most ps2 games arent worth anything
What's the big deal about this game? Why do Sega fans always act like it's a timeless classic?
>>3831815
It is a classic, kiddo.
It just has that retro feel.
>>3831815
Launch title, fun arcade game with memorable setting.
Hey,
So this turned up in my place of work. Just wondering if anyone knows what the deal with the weird blue label is? People over at /V/ seem to think it's just discolouration but it doesn't have a faded look to apart from where the Nintendo logo should be. Someone mentioned you guys might have a better idea with this thing.

>>3831663
>>3831671
It looks like it's been on display exposed to the sunlight for years.
What retro games deserve the 10/10 label?
And out of those games, do you think they still stand on their own today, or has their success become so magnanimous that their mechanics were completely picked apart and ripped off by future games that they now just feel mundane to a casual observer? Similar to the Seinfeld effect.
>>3831451
Pic related.
Also, Space Harrier, Puyo Puyo and Tempest.
Metal slug 3
Crazy Taxi
House of the dead 2
Star fox 64
Outrun
Windjammers
These are games you can pick up anytime. Games that will last you forever. Also I'm fairly certain that they stand the test of time mostly because almost no other games have even tried to top them.

Dune 2000
I do not have nostalgia for this game I'm playing for the first time ever at the age of 27 and this game fucking rules oh my God. I wasn't smart enough as a little kid to appreciate it when it was released and playing it now after suffering the past 8years of modern and progressive games this title Dune 2000 is like nothing else. I'm happy to be alive so that I can experience old games for the first time
Vintage game magazines!! What were the best ones? Post images and covers too!
>>3831249
Posting some comics from Nintendo Power.
Ive got access to all 8 and 16 bit consoles, as well as a PS1 and Saturn.
EDIT: in other words Im looking for a game that will get me into the RPG world and that wouldnt be very difficult
>>3831181
just look up the most popular RPGs for those consoles if you're not looking for anything obscure
Doom Guy is the ultimate moralfag
>Kills demonic evil, including "The Icon of Sin" aka Satan
>Never hurts anything pure
>In Doom 1, he has been sent to Mars after assaulting his commanding officer who ordered his men to fire on innocent civilians.
>Sacrifices himself to save the final remnants of humanity in Doom 2
>Decides to stay in hell in Doom 64 as a shepherd of evil, "and ensure no demon ever rises again." (Quote from the game)
Truly the Kenshiro of vidya. Does anyone even compare to his level of goodness through sheer ultraviolence?
>>3828774
> fights evil for 1 generation
Step your game up, kid.
Can someone tell me why his commanding officer ordered to fire on civilians? I can't find it anywhere
>>3828882
>because one fag made a general for every pre-2000s FPS out there means everyone should post in it exclusively
epic
what is the best affordable retro game delivery mechanism that ISN'T emulation?
>>3823434
Burned games.
Probably a Genesis and an Everdrive. Depends on your definition of affordable and what kind of experience you're trying to have.
I'm a big fan of the Genny and I'd like to learn a bit more about her retarded little sister.
>Which games/ports (including multi-plats) are actually worth playing?
>Is it truly a bad piece of hardware, or was its downfall due to poor marketing/strategy?
>Is there any sort of homebrew scene for it?
>Any chances of finding one in the wild these days? What would be a reasonable price to pay for it?
>Can you actually use it with a CDX? I've heard that there's some sort of electrical hazard.
Without exception there is a better version of every title that would be worth emulating over running the 32x version even on real hardware.
>>3836959
What about that Star Wars game?
>>3836959
Tempo and Kolibri.
What game has the best use of Mode 7? I really like this gimmick and pic related is one of my favorites.
>>3836683
is this one worth playing if you already have n64 one
>>3836683
my answer is mario kart tho
>>3836697
Pilotwings 64 is much better and has more personality but the original is a good early release on SNES imo.
