There's a lot of porn on it but also an even larger amount of just games where 80s style computer gaming and Japanese gaming overlap which isn't something most Westerners are very familiar with so it's pretty easy to have a wtf kind of experience with it. I'm sure it'd be much better if you were fluent in Japanese so I prefer MSX myself but it can still be quite interesting.

Well, as opposed to something like Famicom or even MSX it has no built in scrolling capabilities or even sprite hardware iirc so games are screen-by-screen affairs and any animation is manual and painstaking though there do still manage to be some action games. The number of colors is also very low but the resolution is very high so art for it makes particular use of dithering which gives it a distinct look. Games are on floppy which offers a lot more storage so the tend to be deeper as you'd expect from computer games but probably haven't experienced with such a Japanese... flavor.

I've tried getting Neko Project to work but it won't accept my romset (all files are .FDD) even after I reset

There's a mostly complete patch for the MSX2 version, but nothing in works for the other versions yet. I just know someone's got this idea already though.

Give Tekkou Kikan Atragon and Freewill Knight of Argent a try, man. Former is an RPG where you control a battleship, latter is a pretty open world RPG where you can recruit or kill practically anyone.

This one also includes CD images when others generally don't. You can get CD audio working for some games in some emulater configurations, or even just better versions to install as well.

Also, this includes pre-installed HDI files for most games alongside the install floppies.

It's just a better curated set, though it only goes through publishers starting with up to H, currently.

Nah, I'm with him. I have no interest in eroge or VNs either. There are actually quite a few non-eroge on the PC-98 that are damn good, just waiting to be discovered. No one wants to dig though.

Unfortunately, no. The best I can do is say to check out the PC-98 database at refuge.tokyo and see which ones are our aren't eroge the before grabbing them.

I do, if anything it's easier too dig through the library if you get rid of the games I mentioned ealier.
