What are your thoughts on this game?
It's ok
>>3866682
It was a Sonic game.
It's shite.
>tfw the perfect game will never truly be ruined by a shitty sequel because the rights are sitting in legal limbo
Looking on the bright side of life, my friends.
loving this game. And loving the description of new technology.
>>3856687
Not loving it is a sin
>>3856629
what dies game feel like playing, I'm talking about the interface, pace, etc... more like civ 2 or 3?
Metroid thread? Metroid thread.
I'm currently playing Super Metroid, which I've still never finished despite starting it numerous times over the years. I just got the Ice Beam, and I need to say what's already been said countless times: this game is incredible so far. I just hope it doesn't drop off in the final hours likePrimedid.
What's your favorite Metroid game/weapon/ability/romhack?
What are some other good retro Metroidvanias (other than SotN, of course)?
>>3856343
I thought Prime was all around fucking amazing, but after I replayed Super, I reconsidered some things and I think Super beats Prime by a bit for best control in a vidya ever, and very high replayability.
Metroid 1 I had a hard time with at first, but if you dedicate yourself to it, it can be a very exciting experience. Especially if you use as little outside help as possible.
And that's my Metroid knowledge thus far. (Except Prime 2, but that's not-retro).
Return of Samus is underrated
>>3856368
why?
What are your favorite DOS computer games, /vr/?
What are some obscure DOS games you've enjoyed?
>>3852076
Spent many hours playing Genocide.
Even to this day i go back and play it.
Graphically it holds up nicely.
Mechwarrior 2 is the best DOS game ever no contest
this is the only one i remember playing that wasn't some form of edutainment. i thought it was great, though.
What was his problem?
Autistic neet
>>3892424
He's half Zora and neither society will accept him and his has a host of health problems.
>>3892424
he's not a filthy normalfaggot like most of 4chad
Which NES game is the closest to Sonic the Hedgehog?

>>3891858
Dr jekle & mr hyde
That road runner name
Why isn't it on Steam?
>>3891796
Because Treasure is dead.
>>3891796
probably because steam sucks
>>3891796
why arent all Saturn games rereleased?
Alright /vr/, time for Desert Island Discs.
You know the rules:
>1 book
>1 luxury item (inanimate, and cannot help you escape the island or communicate with the outside world, and cannot be relate to vidya)
>8 retro games, you're assumed to have the appropriate consoles, accessories and display for it.
What do you pick?
Sega Waterski
Tower of Druaga
Crazy Taxi
DDR
Gran Turismo 2
Rogue
Fallout
Orange Box
Ka-Bar
SAS Survival Handbook
A suicide note, 20 grams of secobarbital and 8 Nintendo World Championships cartridges.
Blockbuster Secret Codes
A Surfboard
Smash TV
Quake
Unreal Tournament
Super Metroid
Smash Bros. 64
Time Crisis
Metal Max
StarCraft
How do you guys decide which game to play next? I'm doing this thing where I only play games that existed up to a certain year and then move on to the next year when I clear my backlog, I do this with movies and series also so it is like I'm time traveling, planning on expanding it with pron and comics as well to really catch the feel of the year.
It's really great, because I always know what to play or watch next and I discover a lot of shit that I missed over the years. As you can see in the pic right now I'm in 1994.
I think that's a really good method. Check out some periodicals too.
>>3890884
>/pol/
So that's why /vr/ has so many shitposters.
>>3890975
It's time travel friend, too. As if we didn't know already.
I'm in the mood for some spooks. What are some /vr/ approved horror games? Any platform or genre is fine.
Sonic the Hedgehog water levels.
>>3890771
I'm sure they're scary, but probably not in the way I'm looking for.
>>3890765
Splatterhouses. SH3 especially feels like a proper slasher flick.
Medievil 1 is comedic gothic.
X-Com makes you wanna kill yourself.
are these the ugliest kiosks in /vr/ history?
They're fine, they're just dated now. They scream of a post-Matrix 90s aesthetic.
>>3890761
they seem like a terrible strain on a person's neck though ;----;
I don't see anything wrong.
As someone who owns unmodded consoles and can't into modding myself, is it worth it to buy a PVM/BVM? The video output is absolutely superb but I wouldn't know where to begin connecting consoles. Is there a way to connect things like S-video etc for those consoles which don't support RGB natively (N64, NES)?
Most consoles support RGB, N64 is a trivial 15 dollar mod that's easier to install than a PS1 modchip. NES really isn't worth it, just emulate or run composite.
I've yet to see a PVM that can't do composite (older models may not do S-video.) With a BVM you'd have to make sure it has the NTSC card (that second input from the right) because that's what handles composite and Y/C. That said quit being a baby and learn to solder it's not hard.
>>3890619
Alright so maybe I'll be able to mod my N64 but how do I hook things up to a monitor like this? Do I need RGB-BNC adaptors or what
Also no idea about sync or any of that
why did nintendo film a game boy printer commercial on top of a heaven's gate cult member?
This is an esoteric question.
>>3889121
I don't follow, more explanation?
>>3889121
What? I know about the Heaven's Gate cult/suicide, but what does that have to do with the GameBoy printer?
What's the best rpg on replayability value?
>>3889006
Roguelikes blow every normal rpg out of the water for replay.
Ocarina of Time
>>3889010
Dwarf Master Race
Fuck me, I didn't know about this.
>>3888860
Whaaaaaat?
>>3888860
That you can escape the castle?
>>3888892
No, those secret rooms I circled. In the reverse, there is a Katana in there. It's a nice weapon and not super broken like the end game Katanas.
