How do I get good at fighting games /vr/? I love the idea of the old Capcom fighters but when it comes to playing them I fucking suck.
I'm using Kawaks to currently play through X-Men vs Street Fighter on a keyboard and boy is it hell. I can only win by cheesing with Storm.
I just don't play fighting games that require retarded inputs on the D pad to do anything special.
The skill should be in timing your hits and dodges, not hoping that the game recognizes your quarter circle before your foe wrecks you.
>>4089953
The first step is practicing inputs, keyboard can be really good, but it's a whole different set of muscle memory so only focus on it if you plan to play like that a lot.
Supposedly people are beasts with keyboard and even make fingerboards instead of arcade sticks but consider getting an arcade stick. X-Men vs Street Fighter is pretty slut-easy even on its hardest difficulty against the computer.
Also, playing against the computer can get you into some bad habits that will be exploited when you play against good real players.
Are there any old Rpgs that are easy? Or not much grinding or even fast?
Didn't we just have this exact topic?

Are there any first-person real-time dungeon-crawlers worth checking out besides Ultima Underworld and FROM's games?
>real-time
Dungeon Master
>>4088990
This. It's fantastic, and the map really feels like the inside of a castle. Dungeon Master II was crap where the map felt full-on videogamey, but the first game's expansion, Chaos Strikes Back! was still pretty good.
Also Arx Fatalis was pretty cool.
Might and Magic 6-8
TES 1 and 2
Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2
What's the best way to experience FFVI?
Also, general "Best ways to play retro vidya" thread
get cartridge, put it on a snes, play. grind at the dinosaur forest. drop a few economizers, kill the dragons, chill and kill kefka.
been looking for this & no one's been able to answer me
which is better for PSP. using the component cables or the USB & CFW? assume money isn't an issue
>>4087829
The best way to play FFVI is the ios/steam port, but only if you can stand the terrible sprite work.
What drives people on this board to hate this company?
>people on this board
It's just one shitposter that has a hateboner for them because they made games for Nintendo and a few /stg/ contrarian hipsters.
>>4087534
too popular
>>4087536
>they made games for Nintendo
You mean Sega, right? 80% of their retro games were for Sega consoles, so I can see Nintendo fanboys not caring for them much.
How do the MM7/8 demakes hold up?
MUCH, MUUUUUCH superior to the originals, doesn't even compare.
butchered music
Wasn't a huge fan of the MM8 demake, but I didn't like MM8 to begin with.
love this game. about to play through it for the first time in ages. what do you guys usually cap your hp and fp at? i've never tried it with most of the levels in bp, but I figure that's the best way to make it fun going in as an adult.
>>4087123
Wut?
I usually just up each one every third level. So basically HP at the first level, FP at the second, and BP at the third. Then back to HP.
How do cope with the first hour or so of Paper Mario, it's such a slog. Every time I turn it on to start a new file I get so bored.
I'm playing through now and I'm using badges that let me do more damage when hurt. I'm going to try to finish the game with 15 HP total and put the rest in FP (and fully upgrade badges which I do every playthrough).
Who here likes their yellowed SNES?
mine is still white after all these years
My golden SuperFam is special to me. Thinkin' of sellin' it tho, for a lot
Once again this game shows up here, i bought my usa copy for 600. I feel like i paid too much but other copies complete are reaching the 800 mark. Is this game going to continue to skyrocket or what? Im really hoping its price plateaus soon because its getting crazy.
>>4085271
Paying 600 for that is just retarted.
>>4085273
I agree, but i got a ins check recently and i had 2k left over to spend on whatever and this was a once in a lifetime purchace. I was hoping it would be like 350-400 dollars but with all this recent sega hype old saturn stuff got more expensive. Every day people are waking up to panzer dragoon and since there is no way to buy the game digitally or emulate it, i figured it was time to finally get it before it becomes stupid expensive
It's a legitimately rare great game and its source is lost so no source ports, hd remasters or any of that shit is going to happen. I probably should have kept both my copies.
Confess your sins anon, and be free of guilt.
Mod is crazy, that thread was perfectly on topic. I'll repost the replies:

I've destroyed countless retro shitboxes, from Amigas to Macintoshes.

I cannot stand Sega.
I cannot fathom why anyone thinks the Sega Genesis is better than the Super Nintendo. Everything about it is awful. The controller, the sound, the graphics and colors, it all makes me want to burn everything.
I also have 30 sega genesis games (including "must haves" like Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania Bloodlines, Beyond Oasis, Landstalker, and a "holy grail" of Crusader of Centy) and I haven't played any of them for more than 10 minutes.
I have a Core Grafx with a flashcart but haven't played anything on it.
Forgive me padre.

I use Retsupurae to watch play throughs of really old games, especially cinematic ones, that probably aren't worth playing now. Just so I can get a sense of what they were like. So far I've done:
>Dark Seed 1-2
>Alone in the Dark 1,2,3
>Mystery of the Druids
>Galerians
>Clock Tower 2
>Earnest Evans
Very interesting that Alone in the Dark ends up tracking the same path as the Resident Evil series. Starts as a spooky mansion horror game, then goes full action, including zombies with guns.
Which model Mega Drive is better?

Was the shit battery life of 90s non Game Boy handhelds solely the fault of the backlit full color screens, or was it also in part due to batteries back then being worse than they are now? Like if I got some of these expensive ass duracells with "LONGER LASTING THAN EVER!" printed on the packaging, and put them in a Game Gear, would I still get the usual sub 2 hours of battery life? Or would it last significantly longer because of the allegedly better batteries?
>>4094350
>"LONGER LASTING THAN EVER!" printed on the packaging, and put them in a Game Gear, would I still get the usual sub 2 hours of battery life?
Probably. Because those last the longest on devices with a low power draw that can milk every last bit of power. Part of the reason Game Gears and the like are so terrible on batteries is that they need so much energy that when it gets down to 50% there's not enough to draw on so it may as well be dead.
>>4094350
The problem with the game gear is the way the screen is lit. If you replace it with an LED backlight kit then the batteries will be pretty comparable to a game boy.
>>4094350
batteries are significantly better now and you can ues the li-on alkaline compatible batteries that hold much more charge than standard nickel batteries.
