Can intelligent people enjoy JRPGs? What is the appeal?
Please only constructive discussion.

I enjoy the simple gameplay and graphics. As a highly intelligent person with an IQ well into the 190s (test administered for psychologist), sometimes I need a distraction from the things I think about regularly (quantum physics, geo politics).
>>4071824
Go for the ones with complex stories. I can't enjoy the vanilla "normal kid saves the world".

>As a highly intelligent person with an IQ well into the 190s
yeah kid sure i bet u solved the clock puzzle on ffvi in 5 minutes
Can you be legally pursued for using copyrighted sprites on a non-profit project?
For example if someone decides to make a fan Zelda game using the 4 Swords Adv. sprites and release the game for free, can you get sued?
I think you're still infringing the IP and using copyrighted material, so yes?
Just look at the fanmade non profit Zelda/Metroid projects that got a C&D upon release.

Give credit to everyone, make sure you use sprites from games that have been discontinued/not re-released in the past 4 fiscal years, make ENTIRELY SURE that your game is 200% free in every sense of the word.
Additionally you can also e-mail a representative from the franchise holder to ASK if said use of their sprites is agreed upon and to send you a written and signed confirmation that it is, just to be on the safe side.
Yes. It doesn't matter if your project is not commercial, it doesn't matter how old the games are, it doesn't matter if you give credit.
>dude lets make the towns more nonsensically designed and harder to navigate than the dungeons lmao
Why was this allowed?
I couldn't get past the bat during the tutorial.
That is all I have to contribute with about this game.

What is this faggotry?
>>4069213
It's from before your time.
ITT: games only you played
>>4048723
No I played that too, anon. Nobody to use my Lucifer and Baal and whatever the two other Gaia masters were on in the link arena.
Also Kishe is a dick.

Qix Adventure
Contains some of the best Engrish you'll find in a Gameboy game.
Which Simpsons game do you think was the best and which one sucked? Personally, I think Space Mutants was okay. Pretty meh. I mean were these even worth playing?

Outside the arcade game, most weren't that great. I did play Bart vs. the World a bunch as a kid though.
She will never drive you into the cyber dive. Also this game is better than Mega Man Legends.
You're just baiting. It plays NOTHING like megaman legends.
How about telling us the name of the game first, OP?
she's pretty
I want to play her game
Any other games with nice elevator music soundtracks?

Elevator music soundtrack? Mega man is rock/electronic. It's called Rockman in Japan
Are those prices legit? I've never sold or purchased "retro games". I've just bought games when they got released and never sold them. I have all my games with manuals and boxes. 70 USD for a manual alone seems very over priced to me. Just like 100 USD for Kid Dracula.
Keep in mind that a non-negligible portion of the market today consists of show-off collectors and investors, so they aren't really buying it for what it is (a game that they want to play or own for the joy of owning it), but rather for some trophy purpose or as a moneymaking opportunity.

Online prices are out of whack due in large part to pricing by software. I use a program called Monsoon to sell records and CDs on Amazon; there's no way I could list and sell thousands of items manually (I have over 3000+ at a time). Basically, the algorithm looks at other listings of the same item and bases the current price on that; it's more complicated than that, and you can set various rules, but basically that's it. I monitor my listings and occasionally notice prices that are too high or too low, but again, it's hard to manage hundreds or thousands of listings individually.
The problem with this is when lots of sellers are using similar methods to price items, and when Joe Fleamarket looks up those prices, over time it leads to artificial inflation.

You see kid, there is a thing called capitalism and free market
People are free to sell their shit
Is this console good?
I am collecting consoles that didn't use disc as main way to play games
Already have atari, nintendo and sega stuff
Never seen the console in my state stores back in the day
>>4082839
Better than SNES and SMS, not as good as Genesis or NES.
>>4082839
Yes it is, and bigger / better library than its North American localized version, the Turbografx-16. Get a Coregrafx with AV out and start hunting for games.
Off the top of my head I recommend:
Ninja Spirit
Valkyrie no Densetsu
Genpei Touma-den
Splatterhouse
R-Type
GunHed / Blazing Lazers
Super Star Soldier
Soldier Blade
New Adventure Island
Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu
Son Son II
Bomberman /93/94
Street Fighter II Champion Edition
Gradius
Salamander
Parodius
Air Zonk

Well yay, another product which will be sold out nationwide in five minutes and never restocked again.
Everyone knew this would happen and those fanboy faggots are still throwing a fit on Twitter.

House of the Dead 2 and Virtua Cop 2 are on ported to PC. But you should really learn how to setup MAME and use that.
>>4082027
Silent Scope

>setup MAME and use that.
Will they work with a LCD PC monitor?
why was rolling turtle cut for nightmare in dreamland?
>>4079841
It was problematic
>>4079841
It wasn't that spectacular of an ability. It's right up there with 'Ball' and 'Sleep'
>>4079841
if i had to guess, it's because Rolling Turtle is a really boring design compared to the other bosses.
>>4079861
Throw is still in the game man. Phan Phan gives it out now
Yesterday I picked up Doom Classic Complete, but I don't know which source port should I use. Prehaps you have any suggestions guys?
>>4079426
There's a Doom general for a reason. Go ask there.
>>4079426
Just use gzdoom
>>4079487
>There's a Doom general for a reason
This thread is here for a reason too.
>first game is good
>second game is great and ends on a cliffhanger
>third game is never released
why does this have to happen
>>4079264
You mean a third game with the original creators story/intentions?
>>4079264
Sleep it off, Gilbert
HL3 is never coming out so just forget about it.
Just got both of these games today and I'm liking the turn based style of the game. Any tips though for a complete beginner?
Currently playing through 1 and I heard it's possible to completely fuck yourself over if you don't know what you're doing and the time limit for the main quest is a bit worrying.
>>4076395
What a coincidence! I was about to begin my first play through of FO1 and would also like character build advise. Is sneak/non-confrontation/charisma a viable build style?
>>4076397
From what I remember, speech is the strongest skill in the game if you play your cards right. Combat can be avoided 90% of times, but only in the main story. Don't expect to do all side quests without getting your hands dirty. Also get yourself a bit of repair and science for some key points in the game. If I remember correctly, you need a bit of both if you want to finish the game as a pacifist.
Endurance is important, I think that's the stat that gives you AP. Unlike the later fallout games, AP can make or break your gameplay, so make sure to invest an adequate amount in that, 7 or so. Anything else is up to you. Also, bartering and wildlife aren't that important. Some of the really important skills are repair, science and lockpicking. but seriously, just pick whatever and have a good time. It's a solid game. 1 that is.
