This is honestly one of the most immersive games I've ever played. Just something about the low-poly graphics and the big areas, the pleasant medieval setting is just profoundly atmospheric and absorbing. This game gets shit on, but honestly when I play it I feel like I am playing one of the few games that really nails the feeling of being on an adventure. I love going into the towns and all the buildings, there's a surprising amount of interesting dialogue.

Anyone else know what I mean? Something about the graphics and the environments just totally draw me in.

I feel the same playing this game. I know about the flaws, I know it is unfinished, I know it could be much better... but I actually enjoy every second playing it. It's really sad the sequel got cancelled.

Talk about racing games from the days when getting a behind-view racer was a big deal.

I'm curious, can a PS2 USB wheel (like the Logitech Driving Force GT) work on a PS2 with PS1 games? If not, what's a good PS1 wheel? I want to play more of this but I'm not fond of using a gamepad. If I can get one that supports the extra Ridge Racer port disk that's included then that would be a definite plus, even if I realize it will still be digital input only.

I have a tiny bit left over on my Steam account from the summer sale and I have just enough for either one of those, which both have the same price (NiGHTs is also on the same 'Dreamcast' collection for some reason). Which one's a better buy?

Nights if you want comfy flying through rings and collecting balls, a dreamlike experience with soothing music.

Jet Set if you want a game with controls that have not aged well but a groovy soundtrack and clean art style that may help you overlook it.

Would it improve the base game as much as Thief Gold did? I get the feeling looking at the mission solicits that the story contribution of the missions was pretty barebones and they didn't seem all that fun.

>>
>>4081470
Thief Gold didn't improve much at all. The Gold levels are not well designed, look empty with repetitive textures everywhere, and being way too long for their own good.

Depends on what content Thief 2 Gold would have added.

Thieves Guild is easily the worst.

-Sewer level is never the good one
-Glitchy servant Ai gives them superman perception
-Bad NPC placement and RNG incentivize aggressive approaches by making full stealth nearly impossible
-Made worse by the fact that the mission's theme is to get two factions to blame each other instead of a third party
-Mission critical item closely guarded by an NPC that can't be snuck by in a fully lit room that you can't darken
-Another mission critical item is literally a secret
-Yet another critical item is a secret
-The main objective is a secret
-Expert loot requirement is unreasonable because most loot is low value and hidden
-Several loot items are impossible to get without a literal full frontal assault

Was talking with a friend of mine a few days ago and got to wondering, what was the gaming scene like in Eastern Europe? Of course I know that Famicom bootlegs were big and so was the PSX, but what else? How about PC games? Were Doom and Duke Nukem big things in that region? Are they now? Dunno.

>>
From my understanding, PC FPS gaming in Eastern Europe during the 90s, for those that could afford it, was pretty damn huge.

I don't have any sources and my memory is a bit fuzzy, but it went kind of like this:

Piracy was massive in Eastern Europe simply because poor people couldn't be assed to pay so many rubles for an operating system. So some genius-ass Russians managed to pirate Windows 95 really quickly after it came out, we're talking like a couple of weeks, mostly because there's nothing else to do in Russia. These cutting-edge pirates then put the bootleg Windows 95 copies on CD's, and along with that, they threw in some pirated games while they were at it, like Doom, Duke, and Blood. Specifically, Blood was extremely popular in Russia compared to other 2.5D FPSes: Most of the fansites for Blood that are still around today are in Russian, not to mention the various Russian-made games made now like Lifeweb that are directly influenced by it.

So you'd have these bootleggers passing around and copying CD's with Windows 95/98 on them, selling them for a pack of cigarettes a pop, all of them bundled with Doom or Blood or some other FPS of that type, meaning that pretty much anybody who had a computer then also had one of those games on there.

Of course, everybody was poor as fuck then, so not everybody could own Doom, but those who did have a computer very likely also had some FPS installed with it.

Not everyone wants to strictly play original consoles with a CRT. What LCD monitor are or Tv's offer the least amount of lag? Does PSP or 3DS have lag when emulating? Is the amount of lag caused by emulators acceptable?
