>Current (decaying) king of all mini wargames
>Best detailed miniatures for the new stuff
>Worst rules. Absolutely no balance.
>Decades of fluff, very cool setting

X-Wing
>Strong dark horse, Might be the one to unseat both GW and warmahordes
>Reasonably detailed miniatures. Prepainted, so its a plus.
>Very simple, yet very strong rules. Not as combo-rific as warmahordes, but there are still plenty of combos, imperial aces, fat han, brobots. Very fun. Balanced if you combo-up

Infinity
>First in line to the sci-fi throne
>Interesting and solid ruleset. Unforgiving but not very list dependent.
>Extremely good, highly detailed miniatures. Would be king, if not for lack of large centrepiece models, and wonky older stuff
>Fluff is only more interesting on the AI/aliens side. 'murica VS China factions are lame.

Warmahordes
>First in line to mini wargaming throne
>Sub-par models. Poor details, poor design (tiny jack legs), no clear boundaries for colour separation. Cool beasts though.
>Possibly best rules? Its almost MtG in mini form. Very unforgiving. MK3 has made it possibly the best balanced miniwargame. Lots of fun and interesting combos.
>Poor fluff. Basically post-9/11 murica permanently in post 9/11 mode VS muslims, russians, Chinese, undead, demons, left wing hippies. Entire fluff is centered around 2 mary sues from 'murica (stryker and hayley)

>Zombie king
>3rd party smattering of miniatures from all over
>Rules are what the players like, but is very crunchy. Will not attract new blood
>Decades of fluff. Too bad the old world died.

Battletech
>Ghost king. Was king when it first came out, then died straight away.
>Worst miniatures, period. It was bad in 1970, and it hasn't changed one iota. Illegal stuff is much better. Legal stuff is literally pewter turds.
>Extremely crunchy ruleset, almost a simulator. People use the rules to bitch about MWO more than to play the game. Extremely daunting and unappealing to new blood.
>Worst fluff. mary sue 'murica beating up Chinese people, Japanese people and assorted Asians. Later become 'murica beating up communist negros (CSJ), communist red indians (CJF) while the scandanavian-red indians get absorbed in. Very 1970s centric, very racist, very out of touch. Its like something your drunk, redneck, racist uncle will come up with.
>80s wargame about the 70s, stuck in a mindset and mini style that is 30 years old.
>>
Disclaimer: I'm sorry about how many of the ex. WHFB players feel about AoS, but I try to be as neutral as possible. I agree a few models are bad, like wrathmongers and fireslayers, but the vast majority is really the new GW standard, and they have got that going for them. Just look at the new sylvaneth range. Asthetic is one thing, but their detail is unbeatable.

Main Rules are very basic, but warscrolls gives it much more depth, so the game really is driven by unit special rules. Balance is good, because the game is simple, and currently small. I know a lot of you remember the glory days of the 6th, but lots of us remember the terrible days of 8th with its unbeatable daemon army, elf rampage, and terrible unbalance.

Fluff is OK, and by that, I mean it's mediocre. Very generic fantasy, but not horrible. By horrible, I mean battletech horrible. It's like a general fantasy novel you fish out of the bargain bin, it's not wheel of time, but at least it's not twilight.

Also, someone do Malifaux writeup please.
>>
>>49332308

Should we lump small contenders into the mix? We've for Malifaux, everything Spartan Games does, Imperial Assault is pretty popular, old and niche ones like Full Thrust...

Actually, I find it odd that Battletech is in this list. It does have a consistent General thread, so I suppose this list is more reflecting /tg/'s resident game Generals, so that's less odd.

To kill a Space marine is to kill a guardian of man-kind. To watch a hero die a dishonorable death. To see them fight valiently, yet die all the same. To see a champion vanish under a volly of plasma, his passion scorched away. To see a Astartes recoil in shock, as he feels a knife plunge into his heart, like as if death had caught him by surprise. To see their wounded, fighting on, despite their limbs hacked off, and their guts spilled, their only weapon their, booming, hate filled voices as they are crushed under treads.

One does not take pity on Space Marines; but one must ask, how does a flock turn on its shepards?

>leonidas isn't a stand up fight ship

It's the most stand up fight ship that the PHR have that isn't a battleship. Everyone else is vastly inferior to it. It's a good metric for the upper end of broadsides power

>youre missing a huge strength of PHR for easier tactics

No I'm not. The huge strength of PHR are 3+ save (hopefully) BTL & ECM frigates, great prolific carriers and terrifying battleships.

The broadsides for cruisers are not the factions main point anymore than stealth missiles are in DZC.

It's pretty obvious that unless there were major changes to some of the mid weight cruisers, they're going to be the Janus and Menchit A1's of DFC
>>
>>49330248

The Achilles might see use although if it shares a limited slot with other heavy cruisers it might be in for a benching.

That torpedo is a big deal and having a reliable 2 damage per turn per arc on HC's, BC's and BBs could be good

It just depends how much it costs. PHR is going to have to be pretty points efficient unless there's something else to them that we haven't heard about
>>
>>49330341
>It's the most stand up fight ship that the PHR have that isn't a battleship.
If that were true, it'd be outfitted with full mediums or with mediums and heavies. It's for gunning down smaller ships.

>The broadsides for cruisers are not the factions main point anymore than stealth missiles are in DZC.
It's literally a design element shared by the entirety of the fleet! Every single combat ship except for the Pandora has broadsides, each side having firepower roughly equal to that of a comparative UCM ship.

Not utilizing that fact, and planning your tactics around it, is wasting half the firepower of your fleet, and even then you're not losing out that much since PHR can fire a full broadside on standard orders, and are only outmatched when the enemy goes weapons free.

Really? I really like it. Powerful draw or damage effect for red, I'm considering it for both my Rakdos and my brion decks. Mostly Brion since it can still use a bit more card draw, and it fits the direct player damage theme as well.

Discussion of the Towergirls CYOA, RPG, Setting, or Video Games welcome here!

Everyone welcome.

FAQ:
Q - What is Towergirls?
A /tg/ creation. Read more here.
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Tower_Girls

Q - How do I play?
A - It's a CYOA, there are no established mechanics for the rescue. All the pages to the game are in the imgur album linked in resources.

Q - Why aren't/are we we working on; Fan Gen III/Knights/combat mechanics/etc.
A - We recognize that spreading out our efforts is part of what originally killed the project after Gats left. Accordingly, we're focusing on just one thing at a time and finishing them out.

Q - Hey, can we make a princess about X fetish?
A - It generally comes down to what people like. Propose the idea and see if others want it.

Q - Is there a map/unified setting?
A - Nope. Though proposals have been made, nothing concrete has been created.

Q - Can I post fanart/fanfiction here?
A - Go right on ahead. Just make sure it's within the global rules.

Hey /tg/, wanna read some fantasy eurocomics?

Percevan follows the adventure of a young knight in a fantasy version of the middle ages. It kinda reads like a geste or medieval tale.
Despite its cartoony looks it's pretty dark at times, especially in the later books. What begins as a fairytale setting becomes more corrupted and decrepit as time goes on.

Beginning of the first book:
